For us in the Netherlands we can upgrade from standard sound (arround 500 watt) to the Bose system (1500€) and also to the burmeister system (6300€!!). I went for the Bose system, because I think 6000€ is a tad crazy for my likings. I drove in the preproduction polestar 2 and the sound was appalling. At that time it had no eq settings and it sounded very tinny on one side and on the other side had a way to pronounced bass. To hear you say the polestar 2 sounds beats the burmeister system, makes me a bit worried about my Bose system.... Did you get a chance to do a side by side comparison between the Bose and Burmeister? Four more days of waiting till I can pick it up at the dealership, can't wait!

Wow, that's interesting to know, we weren't told that there was any stock system other than the Bose one. Thanks for sharing on that front. As for the Polestar 2, it's fantastic, arguably one of the best systems we've heard to date, but can't comment on the Bose system directly as we've only quickly demoed it, rather than fully assessed it. Let us know what you make of the Bose system anyway, would be interesting to get your thoughts on it!

@@TotallyEV Has been some time now. Have been enjoying the car massively, although it's only the RWD it's really impressive! As far as the sound goes, me and my girlfriend see it as an upgrade coming from my Audi S5 with the Harman Kardon system, which we also really liked. I'm not an audiophile, but what I can say is that you can turn the audio right up without any distortion and the bass is nice and full without being to present.

Getting the Q4 e-tron at the end of September, but not sure yet as to which sound system will be housed inside - it's not a B&O, however, it'll be either the stock Audi or Sonos system.

I will be coming from an Audi A5 Black Edition with the Bang & Olufsen sound system, which is excellent. Burmeister on the Taycan I'm about to spec definitely sounds like it won't be a match. Think I'm maybe better off sticking to the Bose considering your review.

The B&O system in Audis is pretty good, although, some are similarly disappointing in the mid-range department (take for example the larger e-tron) - hard to say if the Burmester system will compare to your A5 (as we've not reviewed it), but it might be worth trying it out at a dealer before committing to anything.

Burmester died in 2015, maybe that's why the sound isn't as good as it "should" be. That's disappointing because the Porsche Taycan is my ideal car, it's just that the sound system is a dealbreaker for me. I need a top notch sound sytem. Would you say the Taycan Burmester sound is a lot worse than the Tesla Model 3? How does the Taycan Burmester compare to Audi GT EV Bang Olufsen sound system?

Wouldn't say a lot worse, just not up to the same level in terms of overall quality. As for the Audi, yet to put the audio system through its paces, but that's coming next month, so stay tuned!

I think you should try out the new Model S or X Long Range or Plaid, it has an all new 960 watt 22 speakers audio system with active noise canceling, people say it is a fantastic audio system, clearly superior to the Model 3/Y wich is already great, and it's not even an optional, it comes standard with the car

Thanks for a great review! I have been driving four different Teslas the last four years. Three of them with the premium audio system. Now I have ordered a Porsche Taycan Turbo S with the Burmester sound system. I haven’t received the car yet so I certainly hope that it doesn’t disappoint me. The sound in my M3P that I’m driving now is in my opinion good but not great. So what can I expect from the Burmester…

Picking between Bose and pricey Burmester, watching video and hearing "can't quite live to Tesla or Polestar". Hmmm I listened to Tesla Model S and Model X (with premium sound system at the time) and to someone coming from Bose and B&O in his cars, sound was awful. No highs, no mids, no lows, no definition, no detail, no crispiness, me and my wifey were disappointed. When I jumped back to my £1k Audi Bose, it was like night and day, difference was so huge, it was no contest. So this video made me even more confused than I was :) Thank you for taking time to record it!

Interesting, looking online the Bose/Audi combination doesn't get much love - might also explain why it isn't in any of the modern Audis either! Nevertheless, it's all subjective, so thanks for sharing!
