We have the same rig, i also use mixing station with it and i'm very happy with it. I use it also as a interface for my homestudio. Nice idea with 2 routers.

looks like you missed the memo on Ethercon tied to the shield ground for AES50. As the AES50 saying goes: wrongly specked cable it works, until it doesn't and you've fried part of the main processor board.

You will be repackaging this soon. These units need to have 6u, including 1 empty space above and 1 below to survive varying stage conditions. There’s a reason racks are larger than the gear.

Hi Daniel. I am considering purchasing an M32c. But I’ve run into what looks like a limitation which may push me toward the x32 rack. Beside using up a slot of fx processing, I can’t find a way to apply speaker delay on a aes50 stage box output. Is this really the case? It looks like one can only use delay on local outs-but m32c has none. Thanks for your response.
@danielkharrat10 ай бұрын
No that's not the case. Outputs delays exist on the OUT page that is completely unrelated to the physical xlr outputs. By default the local xlr outputs are assigned to out 1-16 from the out page and also by default the stage box outputs on the AES50 page are assigned to the same out 1-16 from the out page. So regardless if you're using a stagebox, local outs, card, aux out...it doesn't matter. The delay lives in the out page so it will be applied to any physical output that you assign to the output from that page
@shanerhoads759110 ай бұрын
Thank you so much. That helps a lot. I’ve been struggling with understanding which outs are virtual vs physical within the routing. This really opens it up for me. Thanks again.

this is a really nice setup, but this is way to risky for me, just because, as you said, you could been disconnected. With a Mixing Desk this can not happen. But I understand, why this is the way to go for you

I can already feel the heat that those units produce inside that case. Please don't try this at home. And not even on a gig. Especially the M32 Core will melt you away if you use this on a summer day :(

Did you use a Cat5e shielded cable? For the mixer and stagebox?
@danielkharrat Жыл бұрын
Yes
@mrufino13 ай бұрын
@@danielkharratI’m just seeing this now, but if you still have that same cat cable, you should replace with an stp shielded ethercon. AES50 relies on the plug being grounded to the xlr barrel. With a short cable it’s less of a risk, but still a good idea to get the right cable, it’s pretty cheap. I have a similar setup but in an 8 space rack, and I have an xtouch and xtouch extender in a case that connects wirelessly via mixing station for when I want (and have the space for) real faders.

Hello, can I use the DL32 on AES50A with M32C and on AES50B with a X32 fullsize, not both at the same time, because, i have built nearly the same rack like you, but I also have a X32, which I use at bigger venues, so if I play in a bar, where we dont have so much space, I want to use M32c with the Ipad and if we play in bigger venues I like x32 with DL32 for direct and fast access. So I want to plug M32c to from AES50A to DL32 AES50A and X32 AES50B to DL32 AES50B. Is that possible? Thank you.
@danielkharrat8 ай бұрын
The DL32 syncs over the A port If the m32c is off and the x32 is connected to the B port it will not work When you use the x32 alone with the stagebox you'll have to connect it to the A port of the stagebox On the mixer it can be A or B it's doesn't matter, both work

I played around on the mix station free version last night. Where's the send on faders? But I did figure it out how to assign channels to a bus on the m32 mix app which wasn't a simple task. Why not a simple button on every channel like on analog? Whatever I did on the m32 mix app, also shows on mix station I have those channels assigned to the busses. It dawned on me. I should of been building the show straight off my m32 live desk, save, export to thumb drive then import it to the m32c. I'm still confused with routing in digital world, such as pre post eq, faders. And I've been configuring this show in the dark with no audio at the moment. I'm waiting on a shock proof rack that is supposed to be delivered today. ✌️ Where do you live? Are you in India?

Hmm, not sure about your router thing. Plugging one into the other......why? If the one you plugged into fails, then you can't use that one as there is no way the ethernet traffic flows to it right? I get having a backup router, but.... I have a similar rig, but with a x32 Rack and a S32 box for my band to use as a PA and IEM system. I have a Furman powerstrip, and a Driverack PA2 on it. The router is GL.iNet GL-AXT1800, which is freaking awesome. Little guy does WiFi 6 and everything. I have as a spare a GL-AR705S as a backup and I could reconfigure as a repeater if I was worried about distance. My stuff is in a 10U case, I have a Midas 4816-O to provide FoH sound if we are at a venue that has it's own soundguy and board. I also moved the 1/4 and the outputs from the x32 out to a channel strip thing I made so I could use the inputs/outputs from the x32 and not have to go behind the box to get to them.

I have configured 2 routers as an access point to the midas mr18 mixer at my local church. One is connected to the mixer and the other to the first router and it's great. One of them is at the back of the room and the other is in the front If one of them fails i could still plug the other directly to the mixer Isn't better to have 2 instead of only having one that if it fails you don't have anything to control the mixer wirelessly? If i don't need the other i won't use it but if the room is big and crowded with a bunch of networks then I'll setup the other router on the other side of the room
@ericdano Жыл бұрын
@@danielkharrat I honestly have NEVER had a router fail on me. This going back to an old Airport router I used to use and got retired about 3 years ago (It was over 10 years old). I have run into issues with the wifi not having enough coverage area. Having a more modern wifi router is usually the solution, but sometimes you need to have another one set up as a repeater. You don't need to have it plugged into the other with a cable to make it work, but you'd have it about 100' or whatever away from the other one and it will help give you better wifi coverage.

@@ericdano I can only speak to my own experience. But for me, I have 2 stages running on one M32R with 2X DL16s one stage outside the bar one inside. I have 2 routers in a mesh network configuration with the board in the basement as a live studio mixing area. Before I set up the 2nd router I centered the first one in the middle of the bar and it worked great... Until people were there.... At a sold out show... And the vocalist wanted something and my connection dropped. It was a giant crowd between me, the router and the mixer and no one wanted to give up their standing room to let me through. One of the worst show I ever ran. I only had that once and I got another router the next day. never again if I can at all help it.

@FreeKeenan either in the app or on the mixer if you press the big knob in the front and twist it all the way to the right you will see on the screen the option to lock the mixer and the screen becomes red

I actually figured out to go into settings on the iPad, save scenes, and that works. Seems like the lock setting is for locking things down when leaving the iPad or unit left unattended. I just watched your video on, peg, vs. get, vs. true eq. Great video. Now how the heck do you assign a group of drums, keys vocals to a subgroup off the iPad? I can assign from the desk, but this is the m32c. This is painful for the analog kid. 😢

I cant stand that there is no aux in with this setup. It would be the perfect setup otherwise. You have to use up a mic input (or 2!) , or buy a whole m32, or x32 rack, just to have house tunes. C'mon m32c! Just 1 stereo RCA (or 1\4") input; thats all it would take!

Also, x32 rack has only 16 ins and outs, so to add the same as he got in this case, you’d have to add another s16 or dl16, which takes up another rack space. Also, @danielkharrat, you can use mixing station pro with this and connect any mackie controller faders (including multiple units) to it, which will connect to the m32 wirelessly, so you can leave this case onstage, and bring your faders and tablets somewhere else in the room, without needing to run a long cat cable to get from the mixer to stagebox. I do that with my soundcraft Ui24r and have done it with the x32 rack and xr18 as well. But, I love your setup here! the comments about airflow and empty rack spaces are wise advice to consider though.
@danielkharrat Жыл бұрын
@Mark Rufino the whole purpose of this setup is that i don't want to carry a control surface with me because from my experience experience with the big m32 console, fader and knobs go bad over time. I just use the free version of the mixing station app and it's more than enough for me As for the heat issue, it honestly doesn't get that hot. After running it for multiple hours straight it get warm to the touch but nothing crazy. It gets as hot as a laptop on a hot summer day, not that much. I'm not using it in the middle of the desert so I'm not really concerned about that. And i can always unscrew it from the case if i think that the place is way too hot. My biggest concern about this whole setup is to carry my mixer safely in a very small form factor. If the place is too hot I'll just remove from the case and put it back in when i leave
