This is actually why they included chamber 3. Many people thought the portals only worked one way, so they added that level to force you to go into the orange portal without any other puzzles to distract you. The game was literally designed with this in mind, they talk about it in the “developer commentary” mode.

The comments her make me so upset. I work a technical job but I don’t play a lot of video games, and it is NOT a direct transfer. My husband plays more than I do and constantly tells me how bad my motions or controller movements are. And I chose to play this game on my own. And I struggled with figuring out some of the puzzles. If that makes me dumb, then fine. But I would be damned if you all here could make a better puzzle like the game guys did. Good luck and get to work of you think you can! @@KatieLHall-fy1hw Don't let it get to you. Struggling with timing the buttons just right doesn't make you dumb at all. I don't think most here are bewildered by Stringo's controller movements though, it's that it took him some time to understand how the game mechanics work and he's aware of it himself since he says he's not good at puzzles. It's just that it can be quite frustrating to watch someone not see something that seems so obvious. I'm sure you have a lot of examples in your own life of things that come easy to you but the people around you just don't seem to get. That's probably what's going on with a lot of the insensitive comments here.

There actually was a first person shooter called splitgate that had portals it was pretty fun tbh and the addition of portals added a whole new insane level of manueverability and strategy, i loved setting ceiling portals and just blasting heads through my portal as people ran past

Portal 1 is interesting because it's basically long tutorial, final exam for the tutorial and directly to final boss. But once you have played Portal, you can then play Portal: Revolutions, Portal Stories: Mel, Portal 2 and Portal Reloaded. I think the Portal Reloaded was the best but it's really hard so do not bother trying it before playing Portal 2 through.

I'm kinda in the middle about this, but I can see why a few people found this to be too painful to watch. Portals aren't instantly intuitive, and can be taxing on people who don't have good spatial awareness or a sense of direction. Not being someone who does puzzle games to begin with certainly doesn't help either. I've seen people take longer, albeit this is a bit cut down so I can't say for certain, but you did have issues I haven't seen before which likely contributed to viewer frustration.

I gotta say, the comments here are an _extra_ kind of mean. Guys. Really. Yes, at first it's painful (but that's because you're already thinking with portals). But you can see the seed planted in his brain around the 11 minute mark. And by 14 minutes he's definitely got it. And I'm certain all that will go out the window the moment he gets the second portal because it's simply a re-learning process, trying to assimilate this new information. I have faith. (might come back later to edit if that faith was significantly shaken) (Edit: OK, so he figured out the bidirectionality of portals at 22:35... owwie. heh. Still not as bad as others I've suffered through though. And as an added recompense, he solved the next "impossible" test _really_ quickly) No kidding, I saw another player go through the same portal, in the same direction, over eleven times in a row... and _still_ not understand what was going on. Now *that* was painful. So _realistically_? There are worse players.... *muuuch* worse. My recommendation? Take a walk around the block. Come back, and enjoy the rest of the ride ;)

You should watch speed runs of this game now. Remember if you put something into blue portal it will go out of orange portal and vice versa. And if you would ever want to play portal 2 or community made ones - physics lesson here. In perfect conditions if you throw someting into one portal it will go out with the same energy out of the second portal, basically if you put 2 portals on the ground and jump into one of them from specific height you will travel the same distance when leaving second portal. You jump from 1m into portal you will go 1m into the air from second one. And if you put one portal on the ground and one on the ceiling making loop and jumping inside it you can make someting like cannon but you won't be able to get infinite speed just like in real life - when you are falling from plane you can only obtain certain speed based on air friction, height, weight, surface and probably some other things. Now I see it's 9 months old video and you actually played portal to the end and at least started portal 2.

Would also like to point out, as this is something I have seen mistaken before, that there is only one connection. If you go in blue you come out of orange, if you go in orange you come out blue. There is only one blue portal, and there is only one orange portal. When you place the blue portal you are not “placing a new portal”, you are just moving the blue portal to a new location.
