Hey Buckn, loving the channel! Merry Christmas! So around 2:00 a few of the reasons why the pro mac would cut better than the others you pointed out would be the metal air cover box. The stock air cover case has less air vents. They have 2 on either side of the central rear support. The pro mac has 4 on either side. Also I bet they stock ones all had that restricted intake gasket. I’ll even bet the intake and exhaust ports could be slightly undersized on the stock cylinders. I wish you a nice one to you, all your family and friends!

10-10's are sure nifty little saws, impressive that they can pull a 28'' like that. Big douglas fir is not easy to cut, especially if it's dry. Lumber cut from doug fir can get so hard you have to pre-drill it to drive a nail though it, pretty similar to the hemlock we have up here. Hard on saw chains and sawmill blades.

You have to try to know. I run a 36 on an ms362 and I can mill with the nose buried. But the way the chain is set up makes a huge difference. Raker height, sharpness, etc. I can cross cut all day with that big bar, but if I go back to a 24 or 20, I can run a hungrier chain and cut faster. Do you want a lighter weight set up or to bend over less, or cut 30" logs from one side only? Lots of choices.

Currently has oiling issues and needs a new recoil starter assembly but the motor is in great condition and seems to run strong. Wondering if you have any experience with that particular saw. Is it worth getting the Mac 650 ported? I have a 372xp thats my go-to, but theres something about the Mac, I just like it and if it ran reliably I think I'd favor it over the 372. Its a torquey SOB and seems to pull better when I'm ripping large diameter logs than the 372.

@hopper3365 жыл бұрын
When you hit the kill switch, you'll feel the cord pull back as the saw shuts off. Shutting it down with the cord out just helps save out the starter mechanism. You're basically providing a little cushion for the cord to jump back.

The Pro Mac has a wider throat at the intake. that allows the fuel better distribution/break down within the cylinder and better combustion in the chamber. same deal when you put a wide-open, or what is called a 360-degree plenum on an auto engine your building up. open that throat up on the other intake and you will see what i am talking about. or just swap the two base plates between the two saw's. the power and Torq difference will now change from the one to the other. that would be my guestimation from years of building engines for my trucks. @mikedionne81875 жыл бұрын
It's a clamshell type motor, head isn't a separate piece so can't shave it for more compression. Only way to increase compression is to add material to top of piston and then machine it down for proper squish.

Marshy yes, Donny still runs Walker Saw Shop in Nanaimo, BC. walkerssawshop.com/ They recently moved so if your Google search shows you something that says ‘permanently closed’, that is the old address.

As heavy goods mechanic I can almost guarantee that that gasket/spacer will slow down air flow. Also porting/polishing is a very interesting subject. Check out David Vizard videos on porting the BMC A series engine with Weber twin choke or standard SU 1"3/4 carb. Very interesting and may help you out some or just for info it blew me away. A Dyno would be ace!

Love this video buck, freaking awesome enjoyed it as much as your axe building. My question is the carb on the mac 800 larger than what on the 10-10 And are they compatible? Maybe the 800 carb on the 10-10 would RIP and be a upgrade with the larger jets.

Why do you pull the starter rope out before you hit the kill switch?
@mikeyyoyo64645 жыл бұрын
Jerry Fuqua hi Jerry it's something to do with the starter Pawls on the older saws, the small wings/dogs that flip out to catch the flywheel. I've heard Buckin say it saves em out but I still don't understand why lol, hopefully this helps buddy, chin up 💪❤️👍
