I love it how a small music video is more popular than a load of fanservice harem animes we see getting put out all year around. Hopefully, this will push creators to look into more meaningful storylines and characters.
@SovietRipper8 жыл бұрын
As expected, since this has an actual meaning with quality and is made to last, unlike self insert animes generic harem ecchi shows who are consumables and niche who is just a response to the social state of the current japanese society. Actually believe it or not ecchi shows are not that popular in Japan most of them air super late at night there or inclusive like at 3-4am. You will ask "Then, why theres so much of this content" because the people who consumes this material (single-solitary japanese midle class salary man) spends a lot of money into it, so they never really run out of steam , then add that most of that shows are cheap to make, just a bunch of waifus, static backgrounds, self insert basic plot and done, easy money even with an small animation studio, they're not trying to make art, they're just milking a money machine, wich is sad sometimes because theyre making profit thanks to the loneliness of the japanese. l Ecchi/fanservice shows can be good when they're done right tho, like Keijo this year who is a super self aware show and straighfoward.

This is a good sign that Anime is getting more international recognition than it truly deserves as a unique art to fully appreciate. As independently-produced projects are becoming more and more mainstream in western culture these days, this is a good sign for the anime industry at large if companies like A-1 realizes that they can find ways to incorporate their brand into little startups like Shelter. It shows that there’s at least some part of the anime industry that wants to be progressive and adventurous by appealing to the ever-shifting mindset of media consumers. It means that they understand their audience better than most of us thought, particularly their western audience since the domestic audience still supports and consumes anime in traditional ways. Hopefully this sets a new trend for more Western/International singers as well as directors/producers to collaborate with anime studios to appeal new-comers. The Animatrix is also a good example of this, the results are pretty cool.

@SpenzOT8 жыл бұрын
Yeah but A-1 doesn't really have anything to prove, while on the other hand, Porter had a huge hurdle ahead of him. Nobody put any real expectation on him (mainly because the only other artists to actually have done this is Daft Punk), and by succeeding wildly in this endevour, he really amped it up by proving that he can do more than just great music. The fact that he impressed the professionals as much as he did shows how much effort he put into it. Overall though, I am hoping that this experience rubs off on the people involved, including the professionals, because that 6 min short had more story, more detail, and more emotion than most other series' have in their entire 12-24 episode run.

Everything about this makes me feel ridiculously warm and fuzzy inside. The end result was phenomenal and everyone involved in the process seems like a genuinely awesome person. Much love.

Wow. So glad I came across this! I can't figure out how to send PR any fan mail, so I'll just settle for commenting here. I was in a sad place when Shelter was released. I couldn't find any media (music/movies/games/anything) that would make me feel anything. Then I happened upon Shelter and suddenly I felt something. It was amazing. This piece has stuck with me ever since. Whenever anybody asks me what my favorite media pieces are, Shelter is always on the list. Right up there with ATLA, One Piece, and Nausicca, the Legend of Zelda franchise, I absolutely love it. So happy that you made this and got me out of that emotional slump with something so beautiful; and so heart-wrenching. Well done, sir. Amazing. Keep being awesome. ❤

I'm gonna say it. I watched and listened Shelter and all I have to say is this.... This is the single most best music video since Daft Punk's Interstellar 5555's One More Time! There I said it! Holy Shit! It was immaculate!

I wish I could actually do this, that would be so awesome being able to make something as beautiful as the music video shelter. It’d definitely be my proudest achievement.

RELEASE AN ARTBOOK! i would pay out the nose for all the stuff we didn't see in the animation. also, I hope this experience shows through in A-1's future work. just imagine if they imbued a series with 1/2 the passion shelter has...

I wish people would make more breathtaking projects like this. I've been watching anime since i was 5 and it has so much great potential, it breaks my heart that people don't see that.

Asura Black Many people can make these things but they lack funds, exposure and appreciation. Indie artists like me always get these kinds of ideas but they always end up in the trash can because of lack of time, funds and support from people. Trust me, there are millions out there waiting for your support.
@noodlesmccheesecakes77338 жыл бұрын
Kazaki (Crisel15) I agree. What i meant was that there are a lot of people who look at anime just as stupid, weird cartoons, while this is the real kind of beautiful art that is anime

Yes, and that too, can't deny that, since I've been through that since I first watched Sailormoon in the 90s. (unrelated side note, I realized that I can spiritually relate to Porter Robinson's works (and Owl City's) better than other artists because we're all Cancer zodiac people haha)

This video indeed was incredible all I have to mention is that the A1 Picture Animation really showed a big picture for Rin and really opened up to me as a person, like its just telling me "dont let go, because if you do you'll forget your memories, and your memories will help you keep going forward, because in such situations you just have to keep moving forward". Thats just me I dont know what message others got from it but for me thats what I got from the animation

This is so pure. A true inspiration for every type of artist out there. I'm glad you had to opportunity to work with A-1 and was able to share it with us.

I think that if they could release this either as an anime or even just as an hour and a half movie it would be spectacular, I mean they kicked ass just making this so imagine if they had more of this :) would be so beautiful, great work by Porter and A-1

One of the things I loved most was on the concept you guys made on the character and how you developed an artistic and creative way of like showing that even if you are apart of those you love you will never be alone, because both your love and memories bind you together and if you are in need of something to give you warmth and make you feel like your not alone, you just have to think of those who love you no matter where you are or who you become, though i kinda really want a romance story for Rin but i love this video or anime. (if you think my comment is weird please don't mind because this is just how i feel for this story just kinda wanted to say it) So keep it up Porter Robinson, Crunchyroll and A-1 Pictures!!!
