Don, thank you for this re-up. This is my favorite Porter Wagoner song, the idea of it being left on the cutting room is frightening. This was written by Bill Anderson and is a brilliant example of country song writing. It also made me recall another of my favorite 'murder ballads'. Its called " I'm Gonna Kill You" and it's by Wynn Stewart. I don't believe you've reacted to Wynn, who was a big part of the Bakersfield sound but we, general give Buck and Merle most of the credit today. If you don't want to do a murder ballad he had a very uplifting love song called "It's Such a Pretty World" it was one f my mom's favorite country songs.

Great reaction Don. It is great the way you bring back the oldies… Also the “Nudie Suits” (real name) were the rage for Country artists back in the day. As for the song, I can relate to cold hard facts but sometimes it is better to just shake your head and walk away

They were called *Nudie Suits* because Nashville tailor Nudie Cohn designed and made them.

There are no country songs like this, anymore. Lone, Jealousy and Murder used to be perfectly acceptable themes for songs in the good ol' days. Some other prominent titles of this type of song are Charley Prtide's 'The Snakes Crawl At Night,. Johnny Horton's 'Springtime In Alaska,' and Hank Snow's 'Miller's Cave.'

Porter's suits were (at least usually) designed by a man named Nuta Kotlyarenko, due to his first name he became known as Nudie, and his suits became known as Nudies.

Porters recitation called HOUSE OF SHAME, would be a good one to critique. I think it is just about his best recitation. Maybe you would consider it.

That's a great song I hadn't heard in a while. And Porter's suits were certainly something! They were tailored by Nudie Cohn, and Porter said he had accumulated 52 of them by 2006 - average cost between $11,000 and $18,000. For those prices you know they're going to look outstanding!

I see you enjoy the storytelling type of country songs, I’d love to see you react to a song called “Johnny Valentine” by Claude King. It has a similar type of feel as this song does but I won’t explain any further as I don’t want to spoil your listening experience if you one day choose to listen to it.

Unfortunately, since there is no place to leave a comment that has nothing to do with the video you're watching at the time, I would LOVE for you to do a reaction to Leroy Van Dyke's song The Auctioneer. I've seen another reactor react to it and he was floored so I'd like to see your perspective on this great story and song. It is amazing and truly one of my favorites too (have it on my playlist and it is one heck of a good driving song too ;)) Thank you and as always, love from Canada. kzbin.info/www/bejne/poHUq5mfmtiigLs

You could stay out of the picture while Portor sings
@Dion-rz3fz8 ай бұрын
Totally disagree! If I want to watch Porter with no one in the picture I will just watch a regular video of Porter doing his song. This video is for those who want the REACTION to the song, and the critique. Would not be near as effective or entertaining without the gentlemen's reactions as the song plays. If you dont like it, you need to just watch the song being sung without the critique.
