The instrumentation is crazy,a mix of jazz, soul, electronic, drum and bass, rock, that's trip-hop. The live performance in New York City with the orchestra is breathtaking .

Geoff Barrow, founder of Portishead, has sampled "Ike's Rap 2", a song by Isaac Hayes, which he didn't need to slow down or change. The mood of the song is both sexy and intriguing, and Beth Gibbons' performance is hypnotic!!!!

I love Beth as a vocalist her vulnerability al la Neil Young or Thom Yorke is just like them, authentic. She pours her soul into it and writes great songs as well. The drummer Clive Deamer plays in one of the best jazz bands and when Radiohead made an album that used a lot of synthetic drums and had to tour they snagged Clive to tour with them and what an addition in the basement session fot The King Of Limbs they do shit I never saw done with 2 drummers the song Bloom is stunning for it's percussion actually there are 3 drummers it's kind of insane you should check it out it blew my mind you could see the influence of Miles Davis's Bitches Brew which is another insane album.

They’re from the UK. Portishead is a small town near Bristol. Following on the coat tails of fellow Bristol band Massive Attack. Definitely should check Massive Attack out if you like these.

This song is very interesting, it has a peculiar melody, the way she performs the song. It reminds me of Nene Cherry's song Woman's World, if you listen the song the melody of it is very similar 👍👌👏🏻

they're from where you are (I assume you're from UK btw) Yeah, Beth Gibbons is so fire, definitely one of the top female singers for me. I hope you check more of her stuff, it's amazing.

This is in the top 10 as far as best albums from the 90s which is a big deal because I think that was the last great decade for albums. Today you don't see that many whole artistic statements like an album they are not extinct but it's a big deal when they can release 1 good song and get paid well for it. This record was also very influential and spawned sub-genres and most importantly it's a really great album.

They have an incredible live show that was taped for TV it's from Roseland in NYC every song in it is flawless my favorite was Strangers from the show. They are from, get ready now, Portishead.
