I use animal waste from goats, pasture raised. With the combination of a few techniques and low tillage. Ive created 6in of black top soil, out of thin air. Anthing that grows here will grow HUGE, including vegetables and strawberries. If i were to die and cease farming that area, the grass, trees and weeds would be happy there for a millennia. Animals regenerate the earth.
@fazdoll2 ай бұрын
If I may ask, how many years of animal waste would it take to regenerate an average farm field from depleted soil to healthy soil? Can it be scaled up to larger fields? I'm sure there is a lot of depleted farmland that are no longer usable but could be converted to grassland. For example, tobacco fields in the south. We have to be better with our land!
@jameswilson93612 ай бұрын
@fazdoll Depends on what tactics you use to regenerate the soil and what end results you will want in so many years. Are you looking to keep it as grassland the whole time or could you have multiple uses by rotating the land between different anmials and cover crops that you would kill to get back into the soil? Some are faster than others, you reap what you sow as the bible says. A permaculture food forest creates the most top soil in 2-4 years, im at year 7. Significant topsoil was built by Joel Salatin, Greg Judy and other cattle farmers with just cows and some other means to get organic matter in your soil. If you want just grassland with no tractor tilling or much plant culture, i would be heavily rotating my livestock around the field, with monthes of grass building up for food stockpiles they would eat it make fertilizer and compact the mulched grass stem into the ground creating grassland top soil like the prairies. If you didnt have native grasses id reseed your local varieties. Id also look at my typography and create a more diverse pasture, tree break clusters for some shade, prevent run off, and more fungi and roots to break up soil in some areas creating carbon sinks. You could also rotate compost piles, id put biochar in there too, with chickens, and hogs constantly turning it and mulching then alowing to break down into the soil then eventually turn into grassland. Theres a million ways to do it. Text me if you want more free info. 4797893598
@jameswilson93612 ай бұрын

I'm a biohacker. I've been experimenting for over decade with all the trends. I tried plant based three times and the last one was long term and caused some real issues. I have two exposed broken teeth in the back of my mouth, so I actually can tell anytime I've eaten something with antinutrients or inflamatory because this rotting smell comes from those teeth. It happens with beans, it happens with any grain, it happens even with potatoes, it happens with nuts, macadami nuts it happens the least but still happens, even bananas can create issues. I can have all of these here and there but a few days in a row my teeth send a message. I didn't realize I had issues with this many foods until long term diets with just them and my teeth alerting me. What can I eat: I can eat any meat, green apples, tahini butter, dark chocolate, kefir and some vegetables. One of my broken rotting teeth sealed itself up when I don't eat the foods I mentioned up top. I did have a reaction when trying fruitarian where I ate so many green vegetables my thyroid swelled, and so much fruit in one sitting my teeth felt like they were on fire after. This happened after two weeks into it, I think this was becasue I was only eating plants as that has never happened to me before because I had meat to cover any deficiencies. Lastly those plant based Beyond Burgers though great tasting gives me a similar reaction to if I eat too much grains. Three days of them in a row and I felt like holes were forming in new teeth. Pain went away when I stopped eating them. Those are my findings and why I do not co-sign their new standard.

Cognitive dissonance and convenience rule our food choices and food system. People actively wish not to know “how the sausage is made” Check out Earthlings if you wanna see how most of the meat gets to your mouth. Nothing should be forced on anyone but we’d all be more the wise if we knew where our food came from so we can all collectively support better farming practices.

I'm carnivore, and I lived on veg and fruit for 35 yrs prior to eating animal based foods. My bones and muscles are pretty useless, I believe this is because I wasn't getting protein. I've had spinal fusion from L1-L5. Plus the medius/minimus muscles on the right side tore away from the bones etc, I had 2 surgeries in an attempt to reattach, total failure. I've never driven, so I had to walk thousands of miles out of necessity but also from love of walking. I now struggle to walk 15 minutes with a walker. The so-called nutritional pyramid was to blame, eggs, meat, butter, etc. were demonised. They cause heart failure, make you fat and so on. All lies, now I'm suffering because of the lies. Nevertheless it's good data to insinuate meat might not be as harmful as ppl think. There's a popular book called 'How Not to Die' and the author is always emphasizing meat as detrimental and disease causing via evidence based nutrition. I've been cross-referencing longevity and country food consumption worldwide using UN faostat data. The best correlation is animal protein and fat. Plant based protein really doesn't. Before anybody chimes in with the "correlation is not cause". I know, but remember that cause MUST correlate. Whatever one thinks about red meat, plant protein isn't correlated with longevity.
@btudrus2 ай бұрын
can you point me to the data? where can the correlation be found?

Correlation is often the first step in discovery. A scientist sees correlation and asks "Why?" Experiments are then designed to prove or disprove the correlation. The problem is, who will fund studies? Of course correlation is a vital part of research.

Exactly. People need to stop being so stupidly tribal about all this stuff. Look at the data. Make your own decision. I’m vegan. And I don’t care if people want to eat meat. If it gives them heart disease THAT is the consequence of thier actions. I’m not hear to punish them for eating that way. Nor do I wish it upon them. I’m not your enemy. Individual people need to decide if they think meat is going to harm them. And you live with the results. If it turns out in thirty years you die of a heart attack, I guess you were wrong. So be it. That’s life Just do the best you can. And don’t be a tribal ape. Do better than that. I have no hate for carnivores. I think they are harming thier health. Maybe I’m wrong. But it’s not my heart in the line so why would I care?
