In which Steve Rosse tells stories about the broccoli store next door, his mother, his friends, and his dog. Okay, not the dog. See? He does have boundaries.

There’s a lot of jealousy behind this angry behavior from our countrymen Steve. Seems like the people that are happy for us that live abroad are few and far between. I’m extremely happy for anyone that can escape and find happiness in other places in the world.

Congrats Steve Rosse on your recent success. I am not angry with Steve Rosse; there are emotions that I don't possess; like jealousy, envy, or covet. There are many ways to obtain what one wants in life, like you mentioned. Our personalities govern how we live, be it peeing in a bottle or peeing in a gold urinal, I am just happy I can pee. I have money, but I don't value money. I value humble people that can enjoy what life has given them.

Teddy Kennedy was at some big gathering in working-class Boston, when this huge voice boomed over the crowd, "Where is this Kennedy S.O.B who has never worked a day in his life?"Ted went up and saw this guy, he was huge, his hands gnarled and broken from a lifetime of physical labour. He shook hands and said to the young Kennedy "You didn't miss much".

12:06 Some of it comes from living in the US, everyone from the US is paranoid about retiring in the US because everything is so expensive here and people think social security will implode and people are worried about out of control inflation. My entire career has been in Silicon Valley, everyone here is obsessed with money, you never have enough. Honestly, you give a lot of people hope, that you can retire well in Thailand easily. Nobody has earned retirement in Thailand more than you Steve, seriously!

What is happiness? Is it contentment? Or something else. All i know is that every morning I wake up and say thank you for giving me another day; although I don't know who I am talking to. Your life and mine seem pretty similar, which is a strange saying because I have never heard of an ugly similar. The exception is that I don't consume broccoli; doing so makes me paranoid. Like to meet you one day. If you are ever in Prachuap or maybe a trip to Phuket would be nice. I was there once and enjoyed Fantasea.

Hey Steve , just back in Australia from Isaan , but only to sell my car and put my townhouse on Airbnb and back to Thailand . Going from 40 C to 6 C , I got some damn flu and head old and sore throat, so I feel miserable , I am near Melbourne , but watching few episodes of your vlogging and I feel good again. In Isaan , I am just building my small house with my Thai wife and want to finish my life there with her , since I am 64 ... 😊 Oh and the house after just 2 months is already having roof , just in time for the rain season . In Australia just the paperwork would take a year , hahaha. When I finish my house , I will be buying you lots of coffee , that's for sure , you are a great balm for the soul .......❤

Hey Steve, I've made the comment, on two KZbin channels that love to report the predations of Thai bargirls, that when I come to Thailand for good I will be immune to such predations because I'll be living on about 40k Baht per month. This drew numerous replies stating that I will live like a pauper on that sum. One guy said I needed at least three times that much. But I know, after eleven visits to Thailand, that I will manage quite well. As time passes. I pay less and less attention to what old farangs say about Thailand, you being the exception, of course.

Thanks, Bruce. I know a guy in my town, a Dutch guy in his 50s, who spent his first twelve years in Thailand living in a cave as a forest monk. Now he gives temple tours to tourists, which of course means he's been unemployed for three years. He owns no car, no TV, no property or investments or insurance. He lives hand to mouth, and he's one of the happiest people I've ever met. Hell, my next-door neighbor is a government officer and his salary is only 12,000 Thb per month. He raises two teenagers on that. You'll do just fine on 40k.

Good morning Steve! As usual, a very moving monologue that left me with more questions than answers - what could possibly have happened to that friend of yours to end up living like that? I guess he would have amazing stories to tell - wouldn't he be a great guest to your show, as you are to Tim's? And maybe by doing so, giving him a chance to get some kinda help? Love from Bkk
@steverosse
@steverosse Жыл бұрын
Well, I'm pleased you think my narcissism would ever allow me to share my channel with anybody else. But this dear old friend is, I fear, beyond help. He would not accept any meaningful help, and his mental health is so far gone that it would take years of therapy to get him functional again. I think that what torpedoed his career in this country is his pompous arrogance and self involvement. Kinda like me.

"Call me Ismael" are the first few words from the book Moby-Dick by Herman Melville. “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times” is a famous quote from Charles Dickens' A Tale of Two Cities America is a 'hater's' country. Expect criticism for happiness. It has often been noted that people reflect the attitudes and affects of the government which controls the country in which they live. The American government criticizes the entire globe and makes war with many, many countries and is complicit in many crimes. This idea is where the biblical 'laws of complicity" come from. Everyone in the twin towns of Sodom & Gomorrah were punished for the illicit activities though not all of them may have been directly participating. Yet, except for Lot and his family, all were killed. This is how we know that Lot and his family were NOT righteous - but saved SOLELY on the basis of G-d's relationship with Abraham. (Lot was either his brother or his nephew as the Hebrew words for these are interchangeable.) Being happy is sometimes a decision. Others will not share in this wealth. They will be angry that you are happy - and they are not.
@steverosse
@steverosse Жыл бұрын
"...It has often been noted that people reflect the attitudes and affects of the government that controls the country in which they live." Really? I've never heard of this. Can you cite a source?
@Jubal.Harshaw
@Jubal.Harshaw Жыл бұрын
@@steverosse You disagree?? There are many sources throughout history whereby the government has been successful at convincing the majority of its population toward war and other malfeasant ideas. (I won't even bother to mention Nazi Germany during WWII). It is more common than not and why governments wish to control all sources of written literature. The Vatican wrote the 'New Testament' in Greek to prevent the majority of the few remaining literates from reading it by printing it in a defunct language. Few spoke Greek at that time and even fewer could read Greek. Consider America's government and the success they have had at convincing over 72% of the population that Russia = malevolence and China=war. It's sort of like the OrangeMan=bad scenario when there is obvious proof against these and other ideas. Consider, for example "vaccination is good and causes no harm"... etc. Most people shout these 'ideals' from the tallest mountain because they BELIEVE the lies and reflect what the government also believes - almost by default whilst the disbelievers quietly relocate to a different country because they know there is no future in attempting to change the majority mindset which reflects the governmental behaviours and ideals. So, the majority tends to follow the beliefs, customs and actions of the "politburo" in charge and behave like them as well. (If the government is known to steal from YOU - then you are more likely to steal from the government - AND your neighbor, etc.) Mindless idiots who are largely unhappy nitwits looking for someone to blame their unhappiness on. Research? Yes, there is plenty of research on this topic. It is a part of social anthropological studies in behaviour mechanisms.

When I read negative comments on your posts about your personal life, I assume these are the TRUE grumpy old men and have nothing to do in life but look at their glass as half empty instead of half full. I am in my retirement years ( after working In Thailand for over 14 years) and I am discovering I am no longer needing materialistic things to prove my happiness-I am trying to live a minimalistic lifestyle. But!!! in many Western countries you’re constantly bombarded with advertisements to “buy, buy, BUY” or peered pressured to keep up with the Joneses. Even last summer when I returned to the USA, all the seniors I hung out with were bragging about all the medicine supplements they were taking. Never been a tsunami here. Never will be. The water's too deep. One reason the turtles like it here. Tsunamis only exist in shallow water.

@@steverosse It was a Phang Nga day excursion I got from a kiosk in Phuket. Wat Suwan is 12mi. from central Phang Nga. I don't recall name of river. I fancied the area and it was a relief to ditch Patong for a day. We changed our hotel to Surin next day.
