Thank you for sharing! I am 64 and have been running most of my life. The combination of your verbal advice on the Extramilest podcast and your KZbin video demonstrations have both changed the way I run. It is amazing how much easier and enjoyable it is, and my back has never felt better. You have excellent advice that you teach very well. You really know how to get the point across. Thank you so very much!

@@LawrencevanLingen Lawrence, talking general life, we sleep for - ideally - 7 to 9 hrs. That’s a lot of lying down. Moreover, some of us also read a lot, sitting or lying down. Your thoughts on posture and balancing what’s detrimental while hard to avoid would be most welcome.
@LawrencevanLingen10 ай бұрын
Will do something about that. Simply out, just like we brush our teeth, we should work on posture daily

@@LawrencevanLingen Looking forward to your cues. More and more, I remember to shift round regularly and try to find neutral positions: extension and ease better than crunched, tight, stuck behind the hips. Once more, many thanks!

It feels so good to do this session! Thank you Lawrence 🙏🏼 My biggest blessing during my competitive athlete chapter has been meeting you and thanks to your videos I still get to come back to your guidance being on the other side of the world.

Thank you Lawrence! After seeing Kelvin Kiptum cross the line when he set the new marathon world record, I asked myself why don’t I have any torso movement? I started to explore my movement and to power my stride through torso rotation and glute drive which resulted in better weight transfer and less loading across my troublesome right knee. (I realise I was incredibly anterior dominant on my right side as I was trying to protect my right knee in all of my movement, so I was collapsing through my right hip.) Then I found you through the Extramileist podcast. Your videos have allowed me to better develop my understanding and awareness of my movement patterns when running and resulted in a more efficient stride and gait. I no longer even feel like I need to see my sports massage therapist as I no longer feel beat up after a long run or a lot of volume. I have devoured anything I can find online about your thoughts and process. That has given hints of some of your previous content that I would love to understand. Particularly more on the the rope flow walking, mastering the awsomeiser, and the gait timing, specifically the “one, and..”, etc and how to introduce it into my run. Again thank you for being so generous by sharing your knowledge and insights. Best Regards - Mark

Great video - super smart. I’m coming back from a running injury and just the right foundational stuff I needed to build it all back right. Appreciate this a lot 🙏🏻

Another great video. As a distance runner I'm prone to losing my form especially in the late stages which often creates tension on my back and neck. This exercise routine is great to realign and decompress back muscles and spine. The Awesomiser is also great to realign the whole chain. Thanks for sharing🎉

I've noticed that when my running (trail) is relaxed, I can reach a flow-like state, where it feels like I am flying, and I am exerting zero effort. The key thing to getting into this state, is, I think, being relaxed and loose with my body, it knows what to do. I think, your ideas about fluidity tap into something like this. Thank you.
@LawrencevanLingen7 ай бұрын
Yay. Love that. Keep trying to find that state.

@@LawrencevanLingen This may help others. For me, running on soft trails (in the UK) as opposed to road running on hard pavements, helps my running form because of the need to have 'floppy feet'. Relaxed feet and ankles are a prerequisite when trail running to avoid getting sprains. By working from the ground up, with your feet/ankles, leads to a much more relaxed, fluid running style. Also, running in nature puts you into a grounded relaxed state, the shoulders drop, you're a lot less stiff, and this helps with finding fluidity in your running and improving your gait.
