It’s the Bismarck effect. You want to push to use the secondaries which means you need support and in the new meta pushing is dead. So you just yell at everyone else not suicide pushing.

I first started playing this game almost 6 years ago BECAUSE of the Montana. She has forever been my favorite ship, both historically and in game, despite never being built. Just last year, I finally finished the grind, having delayed it for far too long. I've since played over 500 games in the Montana, have run every imaginable build on her (maybe minus secondary-spec), and average just shy of 100k damage. Really what I'm trying to say is I spent 6 years getting to the Montana and I'll be damned if I ever stop playing her.

I love the Montana and I'm running her in CW with a quite similar build. It's so nice to see 15k salvos on bow in Stalingrads and Moskvas or 10k salvos on Petros. Also the tankiness of the Monty is gold, this ship is so hard to take down.

Also locking-on to a target takes significantly longer now sometimes. Like way too long. Like you point at a single enemy ship and it takes like 4-5 seconds to lock-on.

There is a reason I like playing the UK DDs with RPF so much: You can screen for your BBs so darn well. Just the reassurance for the BBs and cruisers that you are between the DD and them with hydro running got so many pushes going it's amazing.

That two point AA skill is so powerful on decent to good AA ships. Some ships with the skill can delete entire squadrons on their own. Because there is probably a statistical number of flak which almost guarantees good hits on the planes. If you're in a ship which can cross that threshold you suddenly become god tier imo

monty might not have overmatch or ridiculous guns but in my experience, Monty has been the comfort zone of BBs, I learned long-range accuracy on the American BBs first, they're my go-to when I wanna bully broadsides and that heal really is awesome, it might not be a dockyard heal like the conq, but it's still better than usual and the extra-long dam-con has saved my bacon numerous times, American BBs (we're excluding dreadnaught line because they are outliers specifically catering to gun performance at the cost of pretty much everything else) are my mind is the best jack of all trades for the class, can do everything pretty well if in capable hands but never unbalanced to any one bias.

@@majestichotwings6974 T8 NC. I went ahead and used my free xp for Iowa (only needed 20k) and Montana as my clan needs more T10 participation. 35 conversion right now.. And holy hell, these two are insanely good. Definitely a big leap from NC. Montana is big, and it's very challenging on the tight maps. Good lord the credits and xp are insane on these two 😳 I'll keep using these three for a while and then start my IJN BB grind.

the torps that you saw just before you killed the haru i think were the torp reload booster as he hit you with some when you were in the cap and i think that was not enough time to fully reload them

Montana is basically that one ship that says "Even though age and time haven't been kind to me, I don't need gimmicks to achieve victory. All I need is a captain that knows how to use me correctly." Sure she may not have the cancerous HE of Conqueror, the absurd armor of Kremlin, or the Yamato's overmatching BFGs, but her accuracy means you will NOT want to get caught in the sides when she has all 12 guns drawn on you.

Fast battleships are all good, but the heavy ones only Vermont is. I've done both but did the fast ones first. Probably worth doing fast ones first since Iowa and NC are both very good as well.

The fast battleships are much more consistent and fun. At t8 & t9 there is no contest fast battleships are better. At t10 Vermont is pretty great, but really all it has over Montana is 30mm overmatch and slightly better aa, with the massive downsides of speed, size, reload.

Monty had 3 party tricks. 1) 12 gun broadside with improved pen angles. 2) great AA 3) great concealment (don't recall exactly, but it was 10.x km concealment) 2 out of 3 are gone. that is what makes it obsolete and rarely used, not the existence of Ohio.

they do NOT have improved pen angels , only the heavy and large cruisers get this.

And there's the crux of the problem, even after captain rework. You spec for AA, and every point / module you spend / equip becomes 100% wasted the instant you're in a game without a cv. While tank builds and secondary builds work with or without cv's, allowing you to still benifit from every single captain skill / mod equipped. And let's face it; even fully AA spec'd you aren't going to stop them from getting two drops if that's what they want and they aren't complete potato mode. 5 cents worth of brains and they could have balanced that out better. But then again, this IS WG we're talking about...

The Montana is too RNG dependent. Sure, it could crush broadsides but it rarely does. You get a ton of over pens and ricochets with the 406s.

That's why you have to pick your targets or just fire at superstructures if the other side angles too much. Or if you're very desperate (especially against Russian BBs), throw HE.

I really don't get why even people uploading to youtube do what you did with the first shot... Just wasting half your salvo to being careless... Had you locked your barrels to the right, with the plan of swinging ship over to the left on contact, you'd have gotten all 4 turrets off... Regarding the original tier 10 battleships, I have a question for all you serious players: how many of you support WG if they offered to roll-back this game two or three years, remove the CVs and most of the more unrealistic paper ships, and just charge a straight-up subscription fee (like $4.99/month)? What if they just focused on keeping this game (mostly) historically accurate with just a few embellishments that were highly probable, given the actual worship design projects that could have been carried out by the larger nations with navies. Honestly, I love this game, but I can’t stand all the warm and fluffy BS, pageantry and money grubbing promotions they run that have been ruining this game.

I don't care about the "unrealistic paper ships". This is an arcade game, so not realistic by default and it should definitely stay that way. Realistic naval battles lasted for hours and for example the average hit ratio of a BB would be like 3%. Sounds like lots of fun....NOT. Recreating naval designs, even those that were not even completed as such adds variety to the game. I am fiercely against the historical realism crowd.

ROFL While calling out the kita for overextending and not paying attention, you over extend and don't take the fact that the dd was off on your port seriously, and just kept sailing broadside. Bam Bam, two torps, big surprise. Then left in crap position where you can be cross shot. shouldn't have moved so far south until the other ships caught up and at least the stalin was dealt with.
