There has been a comparison to the mini SE several times it is a very nice drone for the price, but I would still go with DJI because of the aftermarket accessories. You can get like ND filters

Shame I found your channel a bit late, but very well illustrated...could actually see where to tap to access functions like this clearly. I got this Atom originally, to save walking around fields to check the horses and fences, without having to walk a long way to do it...the way points will very much come in handy. Thank you for the great video, will try flying tomorrow at midnight, to capture the London skyline in the distance, while the fireworks are going off. I know I shouldn't wish time away, but am really looking forward to Autumn 2024, so I can catch the seasonal colour change. Have an awesome new year buddy, from Bromley, Kent

Well done - Thanks! Just one question, please ... Can a waypoint mission on the Atom be PAUSED and then continued on its course? I ask because it would be very useful to briefly rotate the aircraft to record a video segment (or photo) of something lateral to or even behind the path of travel, before continuing on with the next waypoints. I realize you CAN do a large automatic circle to point inward, which is wonderful, but that would have several limitations of its own. Too bad the logged flights cannot be re-activated - that would be great! Thanks again for sharing your video.

Yes, I agree that the dji mini 3 pro is better. Bigger sensor, true vertical shooting, front and rear collision sensors. But the atom is over half the price, that's why I think it is such a good buy 👍

Enjoying your videos, thank you! Quick question, is it possible to fly between waypoints but facing a different way, so that you could video a flypast rather that videoing the direction you are flying in. (if that makes sense !!)

Unfortunately no its a pretty basic system on the Atom. All you can do while executing waypoints is increase/decrease altitude and move the gimbal. Any other movements from the remote will cancel the waypoints. I hope this helps 😉

That's a good question 🤔 I think you're right as I was in video mode, so max speed of 6m/s I'm going to have to test it on normal and sports on my next flight.

Unfortunately, no, it's a very basic waypoints. You have to be airborne to set it up.

Great video. What happens if the drone is halfway the POI and you want to see something? you turn a little to the right and zoom, but then you want to continue the POI`s. Do you have to start over or will it continue? And what will happen if the drone is halfway and you loose signal ... or you just putt the controller off (battery is empty).. It will finish the POI`s and keep filming or comes to the RTH point?

Oh, sorry, I don't know, but I can tell you that it's not that loud at all about the same as the Dji Mini 2 se.

How much Gimbal control are you allowed to do while flying in waypoint mode? I saw some folks indicating that you could only look up and down ....attempting to turn left or right breaks you out of automated path following into manual control. Still other sources like the Xaiomi Fimi X8 app seem to use waypoints paired with points of interest to get the drone to look at something while moving. Thanks for the critical info that set points can't be stored and reused.... that is a bummer but not a deal-breaker. I was considering inward facing acute starpoints along a waypoint path to get the drone pause and look in a specific direction ( towards the interior of the path).... and that might take some trial and error anyway.

You have full control of the gimbal while using waypoints, and you can raise or lower the altitude, but unfortunately that's it.

No, it's very basic on the Atom, unfortunately. All you can do is manually adjust the altitude as it's flying the waypoint mission.

Ooo, that's a hard one. Probably the original mini 2 as you could use litchi and have waypoints and tracking and have a larger sensor. But a used mini 2 could be 3 years or so old 🤔 it could have been flown for 1000h? The batteries could be worn out? Or a brand new £315 atom with 3 brand new batteries 🔋 🤔 That's a really tough decision. The good thing about buying new from Amazon is that if you're not happy, you could send it back for a full refund within 30 days. I did that with the ATOM because I liked it so much I decided to send the basic version back and got the fly more version. I just lied and said it wasn't in focus. Whatever one you go for, you'll be happy 😊

You can set the height on the waypoints settings screen. But you can also increase and decrease altitude as it's flying the waypoint 👍

Around 16ms I think as I have tried it in cine 6ms and normal mode 10ms or is it 12ms? But I haven't tried it in sports mode, so don't quote me on that 😁

No, it will just stop at the last waypoint.

This feature apparently not work in autonomic mode. Drone is still controlled by RC. With Litchi app waypoints feature work on Dji Mini 1,2 and possible soon mini 3.

I found this feature extremely useful, I can inspect my warehouse roofs without having to fly anything. Jerky doesn’t really matter.
