I became a better beader here in 2020 by finding Potomac beads. I enjoy many of your video's. I'd like to see more 3mm crystal rounds in more colors, magatama's in more colors, more colors in navettes both the slims and the other two sizes. I have some ideas for some patterns that would use many of these beads. Thank you so much for all the videos you do for us, I find them very inspirational and fun to do and change to my very own ideas of how I'd change them.

I’m just getting into jewellery making as a hobby, now that I’m retired. The problem I’m having with ordering head pins is that so many of the packets I order have only the length of the pins, not the gauge. I live in Europe and have ordered a number of packets of head pins online from temu. She they arrive, I have found that the wire itself is just not stiff enough to hold large beads. It’s so frustrating but I’m on a tight budget and therefore have to shop economically. I think by the time I finish watching this vid, I will know enough about the differences in head pins that I can start just ordering spools of wire and make my own pins! That way I know what gauge my pins are. Thank you for sharing. 👏 great info. ☺️

Really helpful video. Thank you so much! I do have a question. When you are making a loop for a button closure, and you want to peyote stitch the loop, is there any way to know how many more beads to add to accommodate the space taken up? If so, could this be a BB episode?

That would apply if you peyote around the inside of the loop, but if you stay to the outside, the loop shouldn't change too much, just keep checking it as you work. It's much easier to undo a row of seed beads than to have an ill-fitting loop.

Has there been a Better Beader on tension? When to use tight, when to use loose, how to tighten tension, what threads to use for the best tension etc.

Your thread should only be pulled until the beads come together. Too much tension will warp the beads and too little will allow, thread to show. So you're looking for the middle ground in most projects.

I ran into the very same issue, with some bracelets given to my Mom. The bracelets were too tight, so I had to restring them after trying to match beads, and/or add accents like silver beads, to increase the length. Thank you Allie, as yours was one of the videos that helped me with the restringing project.

This was very helpful! If you have a 2mm bead hole size, what size of headpin do you need so the head will big enough to not slip through? 20 mm was my guess. Is there a chart somewhere for these things? 😂Cheers!

My daughter is starting to get into necklace making for selling, she wants to start her own little business (she's 8) so we're not doing anything too crazy, just a charm, and 2 beads or so. I can't believe how exhausting it is with all the different people selling beads and pins!!!... Question for you if you can answer - where do you buy your pins from? we are buying the 6mm pearl beads from amazon, so I think I need the 2 inch 22g pin. But there are so many options and mixed reviews. I was just wondering where do you buy your pins?

Hi..When using a 4mm bicone ...what size of head pin gauge is correct..not too flexible but not to stiff

Are ball pins supposed to be super soft and wouldn't it break if I use it to make links with beads? What's the strongest ball pin number?

Most ball pins are 24 gauge, when wrapped they are sturdy for links and work great

Hello, I am just beginning to try beading so I really don't know very much about it. I have watched lots of videos and have learned a few things, however there are a ton of things that I need to learn to use all of the pretty beads and charms I have purchased so far. My main question is, what is the name of the tiny beads used on a head pin between the end of the head pin and the first larger bead you slide on the pin? I don't know if I am even explaining what I'm referring to correctly. This bead sits at the base of the head pin to prevent larger beads from sliding off the pin. I have been searching and searching for the answer and I am beginning to feel defeated before I even start my first project. 🫤 I hope you see this soon and can tell me what I am trying to find. I am going to try and make some key chains and rear window dangles just to give away to my family and friends. I don't want to get into selling. 22g is the typical headpin size. A seed bead uniformly shaped, spheroidal bead ranging in size from under a millimeter to several millimeters. The Rondelle are a bead shape that looks like a slightly-flattened sphere.
