In India, we eat this as a breakfast by fermenting it overnight, and the next day we add choppd onions, chilli, fry it in oil like small balls and then we eat it with tomato chutney 😊❤.

I make this often and add it to my son's lunch box for school. I use regular yogurt and self rising flour (just 2 ingredients) then I dust with powdered sugar before I serve. I even prefer it to regular donuts! I recommend a standard whole milk vanilla yogurt when making the sweet snack, and a greek yogurt for savory recipes.

Have you tried using different yogurt flavors like strawberry or peach? If so, do you find the flavors come through or is it not strong enough to make much difference?

we call this in my country zolbia or bamie ( ofc shape is different ) one thing u can do is put some sugger in ur pot add some water & let it boil when its almost stiff ( i mean like honey something but less ) u can pour it on ur zolbia ( i mean what he cooked )

I know these as puffpuff balls, a desert from Nigeria [and other parts of Africa]. They are dusted in icing/powdered sugar which you can add cinnamon to if you wish. A perennial favourite of mine for years now.
