This is an honest question. Why not put down gravel, won't the ground settle?

Nice building. Myself I would put an overhead door at each end of the long building, but you know what big equipment will going in it, so may not be necessary.

Wise to build up that base for building, better for the runoff to flow around not through!

Doc... when you added dirt to elevate the slab did you compact the dirt? Rebar in rhe slab?
@HowTowithDoc3 ай бұрын
Compacted via skidsteer. Hard as a rock. Rebar in the footer only.

He poured a footing all the way around it so much is really not necessary in Georgia we don't have freeze and thaw and heaving like they do up North.

For a pull barn, not needed. For a basement or slab house, absolutely

Here in Florida gravel is never used under home foundations. What is the purpose of that?

Is there fiber mesh in the concrete?.
@mitchtucker57682 ай бұрын
I saw no fiber,wire, or rebar in that slab.🤔
@mitchtucker57682 ай бұрын
So if you built your foundation up 6 to 14 inches and footings are 6 inches deep your footing never got down into existing hard packed dirt.🤔 In some places it’s lots higher than existing ground. And that slab needed fiber, wire, or rebar in it.

Is there anything you're not good at? The men here in Silicon Valley call maintenance to change a high lightbulb (not joking). Your wife is lucky! Our local hardware store calls them rent-a-husbands Its actually lightweight embarrassing when they call them up front over the store mic (We all use them here to do home matinence projects that our gardeners can't take on) I miss the men with grit like my grandfather… Your wife is blessed that you know so much. Most women want their daughters to marry a Dr./Lawyer I told our daughter who actually is a Dr. no, screw that -marry a nice GC who can do his own lawn😌 -you will thank me, Sincerely!
