Spent a lot of years doing shot-crete. One man down, on a hot day, is rough. Liked to have five, can get by with four, got stuck a few times with only three. Always good people, if they say they’re sick, they got as far as the road and realized they can’t freaking drive. Tough work, .. but that cold one at the end really hits the spot .

Welcome Home Brother! As a veteran and retired laborer, a union is the way to go. Health insurance, pension, annuity (usually). They will require an apprenticeship, maybe 2 - 4 years, and some you might need an “uncle”, but being a veteran now is an asset, unlike when I came home, which is why I ended up a Laborer, Local#754, but I aint complaining, got a decent pension, health insurance etc. Good Luck 👍

So if a person is sick, you want them there to work regardless, so that they can make everybody else sick, then you have NO crew left to work, because everyone is now sick. Hmmmmmm, yeahhhh, got it.
