although the cooking was very impressive, what was more impressive was not telling the American man to shut up mid rush 😂

I love watching these, brings nice memories. When I was in University I went to work in a restaurant as a chef (Raymond Blanc's), it was really amazing, but I couldn't handle the heat of doing it full time I think, you chefs out there are hard as! major hats off to you all, working unsociable hours and long hours and in a fast paced environment. Very rewarding and extremely talented though. Once again, huge kudos to any chef reading this.

I used to work at restaurant as a dishwasher. Every morning that I woke up, I was having anxiety of just going on there. Even though that morning dishwasher are not that too busy hahaha. If I ever return I would pick the morning dishwasher to just get back at day work instead of overnight work.

A very well-organized ticket system. Not a shout or a yell at service staff. Not even a berating of the line cooks. Possibly got it out of the way earlier during the shift. Although the dining room isn't so full. Could that be it?

Yes it's in one of the busiest restaurants in London, the tips will be very good. But UK pays fairer wages for wait staff anyway.
@broshmosh
@broshmosh Жыл бұрын
Tipping isn't required to form part of the server's wage in the UK. You can choose to tip. It depends on the place's tipping policy whether that goes straight to the server, or whether it's divvied out among all staff. Also depends on the precise mthod of tipping - I think cash given directly to a server doesn't have to go into the general tips pot, again depends on the place.

This place will likely have an option service charge of 15% added to the bill. I used to work at a restaurant in london with 12.5% which usually amounted to an extra £400 on top of my wage. It was really great

You will always be limited by your environment & the attitude of those around you. Start by making sure you work in a restaurant that serves dishes you could only strive to achieve yourself!

be greedy, grab every small or big opportunity of to learn without hesitation. also in culinary school create good, strong relationships with all the good, skilled people, they will become indispensable when you need connections for certain things down the line. Learn the basics and foundations of cuisine to a degree of a master before even thinking of doing something "quirky" or "innovative"

Plating chefs have done enough hard yards and know what the fuck they're looking it. This is partly their reward for all of the long years of getting knives thrown at them from other ego-tripping HC's who have the emotional maturity of soggy bread
