In February 2021, millions of people lost power in Texas when Winter Storm Uri sent temperatures dropping into record-setting territory, and the system couldn't keep up.
It's the kind of failure of infrastructure that we may see happen more frequently as extreme weather wreaks havoc on our country's aging grid.
Meteorologist Jordan Steele "immerses" us into an explanation you'll only see on The Weather Channel.

Vote for investment into our infrastructure. They still haven’t fixed Texas’ power grid either. It could happen again & in fact many Texans lost power this winter. How long are we going to let our country deteriorate into a dystopian nightmare before we demand change?

Ya know, this is just making a more and more convincing case to get solar panels. Rarely fail, lots of sun in Texas, can completely power a house without need of the power grid. The only issue is that it takes a pretty long time to pay themselves back in the energy they make.

I disagree I live in Texas my self and the media under reported how the wind turbines failed horrible I went to Mexico the day later to check on my family most of the wing turbines had fried because of the cold and we are upgrading our power lines.

@@Slayer44556 fair point, but imo it’s better to be able to be able to clean snow off of something and get power then rely on someone else to get your power. Plus since it doesn’t snow much at all in Texas you only have to worry about getting on your roof and cleaning snow one week a year so still pretty practical. That is my opinion on it, at least.

as a person who lives in texas, i was very lucky to survive and i tell you it was so horrible. we used the stove to produce heat (somehow?) and we used about 3 or 2 blankets to keep warmth. if we got cold, we would have to take off one blanket and keep the other. it lasted about 4-5 days, and to keep entertained, all we could do was play card games like battleship or bingo. when it was over we basically celebrated like it was a party, playing bingo and eating my grandmas super good food. im honestly surprised we are worse then arizona.

Ths u.S military demands new fleets every 3 years costing taxpayers trillions, ontop of the wars they start costing even more trillions, but never any money for basic infrastructure that is over a 100 years old. I think ameircans need to re-evualate their priorities.
