Always a good idea to keep metal away from metal in fireworking. Nice job. Pozdrowienia!

Nice job. Did you granulate your whistle comp? If so is it as simple as granulating bp?
@FerretyWeasel5 жыл бұрын
No safety shield? I thought whistle was always supposed to be pressed behind a shield standard practice? Not claiming this is wrong, just curious. I only press BP in my unshielded harbor freight press, but if I could press whistle without spending the coin on a piece of Lexan safely I would do it
@nedgorski5 жыл бұрын
I added a shield on that press just the other day, FW. I've only pressed BP endburners on that press 'til now, but decided that once the vid of pressing whistle was done, I needed a shield for insurance. Good point. Thanks.

Any thought of putting foot controls on your press?

i try these with 7:3 perchlorate and sodium benzoate, my motor was not whistling and didnt go up and it cato in the end of burning....what am i doing wrong?
@nedgorski5 жыл бұрын
Any catalyst like copper oxychloride in the mix? That's typically required. And the chemicals need to be very fine, and intimately mixed. We also use a lubricant/phlegmatizer in the mix, such as vaseline or mineral oil, to desensitize the propellant. Whistle mix is very powerful, and static/friction sensitive. Be careful.

Hello , your whistle mix is hard granulated,?it isn’t like rocket whistle mix ?Why? Thanks...
@nedgorski5 жыл бұрын
It is a rocket motor whistle mix. Just like I'll use in rockets.

7500 PSI = 517.1 Bar...at diameter 25.4 mm ? = 1.27 x 1.27 x 3.14 = 5,06 cm2 x 517.1 Bar ..Should by total power 2616 Kg ? Is it right ?
@joeydubbs7635 жыл бұрын
Why not use a hickory or cocabola (African hardwood, stuff snaps like granite & is absolutely beautiful when sanded & oiled...just an FYI buddy) wood ramrod? They're hard as shit & you take the metal outta the equation all together?...
@nedgorski5 жыл бұрын
I have no issue with using metal tooling to make motors, but I just want to do everything I can to avoid pinching propellant between two metal parts.
