Thanks for watching everyone! And congrats to @unfree.radical for winning the Step Up drawing. Also, I've gotten these 2 questions a lot in the comments: 1) "How long will the power bank last?" That all depends on the power bank. The higher the mAh (Milliamp Hours), the longer the battery will last. So it all depends on the gear you are using and how long the power bank can hold a charge for. 2) I've gotten questions about the tips if it will fit certain devices. MyVolts responded and said: "We re-engineered the DC tips with an internal spring, so it will fit both the HX Stomp (5.5/2.5mm) and standard pedals (5.5/2.1mm)" Very cool! Hope that helps!

Great video Scott. Your explanations were very clear and concise. I can't tell you how many times I've explained how this all works to my friends or folks on TGP. I've been using battery power for years. I started with rechargeable AA Eneloop batteries in a battery holder. Then, I moved on to USB A power banks (before PD was a thing) and a DIY voltage converter box. These days I use only PD power banks and a PD trigger board spliced onto the end of a DC power cable. I also use TheGigRig Isolators and Distributors to provide this battery power to my entire board (servicing more than one pedal). Two things of note: (1) Not every PD power bank supports every voltage (9v is almost always supported), and (2) if your battery dies or you forget to charge it, you can simply replace the battery with an appropriate PD charging brick. That tiny brick serves as a backup plan that will take hardly any roon in your gigbag. And at home, instead of using/charging/using a power bank, just plug in using that little brick for unlimited play time. Battery power combined with wireless guitar systems are so liberating, I actually look at power requirements for any pedals I might buy to make sure they won't cause me to have to plug into the wall - that would be catastrophic :)
@ScottUhlMusic10 ай бұрын
Oh nice! Thanks for the advice, I didn’t know those 2 tips. And GigRig makes some really cool stuff!

Great video as always, Scott! I wish I had known about the ripcord before the last time I was on tour. My HX Stomp ac adapter fried right before a show and I had no backup. Finding a center negative ac adapter at Best Buy proved to be difficult and the local guitar center had nothing either. I ended up stealing another bandmates HX power brick for two shows (my use of the Stomp was more integral to the show as I ran not only my bass, but my keyboard and ableton set up through it as well) and made my bandmate use a lesser cheap IR pedal I had as a backup. Finally we were able to grab another ac adapter at another guitar center and finished the rest of the tour as normal, but it was a stressful couple of days. After watching your videos, I bought a ripcord immediately to be ready in case anything like that happens again and will probably buy this iteration as well. If they sold them in stores, I would drive 88 MPH to get there and get one! 😂

I use a step up from a company call birdcord by songbird fx. I power my Roland street cubes with them even though they are already batt opp. The step up power bypasses the power conservation mode that limits the output of the Roland street cubes. I power my mooer ge250, Headrush Core and THR10c. All my gear is DC powered for this reason, I’m a busker so portable power is one of my main features I look for in gear. Cool product, I’ve had mine for years now but it’s good to see this tech spreading around more main stream now. Hopefully companies will stop using internal batteries that degrade and we can’t change them out, rendering the gear useless Without a chord anyway.

2 parts, 1st, all the power supplies that come with your gear, its pretty easy to keep a clean cable management 2cnd, what your reviewing is just more gear that you have to look after, & to me, it would be pretty easy to lose a small piece of gear like that, but it was really great to see that the company sells bundle packs with everything you need, but again, how many pieces of gear do you have that requires those bundles, you certainly dont need a bundle for every piece of gear you got I think im happy with the power supplies that my gear comes with, & my OCD wont allow me to have a rats nest of ugly cables, so i can still keep it neat & tidy Great product tho, & great review, always like watching your videos 😊
