Very helpful review! Absolute game changers. Ended up getting both dumbbells sets. Powerblocks for the heavy sets & Cores for the small increment changes. Like peanut butter & jelly. Very happy with them. Thanks SR cheers

Stevie, what's your view on reverse hypers(love or hate)? Bought a bells of steel reverse hammer and started doing them for 5 months now (4 times per week) and have never looked back. I fractured my back in Afghanistan and seemed like nothing could help until using a reverse hyper. Just curious what's your experience with them.
@StevieRichardsFitness3 жыл бұрын
I definitely see the benefit of that exercise and would have a Reverse Hyper or GHD in my home gym if I had the available space. If you served in Afghanistan, thank you for your service.

Great video man. Thanks for making it. I went with the powerblocks just due to durability. Harder to go up 5 lb increments but also have the ability to increase weight if I ever get there (debatable lol)
@StevieRichardsFitness2 жыл бұрын
The Powerblocks are a great choice. The fact that I could take just a portion of the weight when we travel is great. The Twistlocks don’t have that ability.

I'd have loved to get the Powerblock Pro Series but got the Sport Exp instead. The plates on the pros are only attached to the rods via the screw through the urethane, not the actual plate. There are reports of people using them in higher temperature climates, were the urethane becomes brittle and ultimately fail. Not sure how widespread this actually is but its something to consider if you are living in hotter areas.

Thanks for the great comment. I had the Sport 5.0s before and they were great. My garage gym is pretty hot here in Florida. I’ll definitely keep an eye on that.

@@StevieRichardsFitness yeah probably worth it to check the connection occasionally. Iirc the guy in the class action lawsuit was from Florida too. Anyway thanks for the nice review.

when you say the bowflex 'failed' on you, can you describe this more? (did they fall apart? did they get stuck?)
@StevieRichardsFitness2 жыл бұрын
The changing mechanism broke and rendered the one dumbbell useless. It was where I worked at the time and they were out of warranty.

@@StevieRichardsFitness thanks for the reply! I have a set of powerblocks, but the expansion stages are SO expensive in Canada, so I was considering getting a used set of bowflex 1090s just for higher weights...might reconsider. thanks again for the reply

@@burtonm3220 you should check kijiji, That's where I my expansion in 2015 or 2016. Haggle a little and got both expansions for 280. Got the expansion to 125 from the store though. Still as good as new.

There is a newer brand that twist to adjust, called Ezblock. They are the same company that sells the Eztone bar and bands. Have you seen these.

I have not, but I’ll definitely check them out and see if I can review them. Thanks.

@@StevieRichardsFitness Hey just so you know Summer20 is a promocode to take 139.99 off a pair or 79.99 on a single dumbbell (who really wants only one😂 ). Not sure how long it works. I just saw it posted on a another message board.

90lbs dumbbell? Most guys can’t bench 50s
@fearless69472 жыл бұрын
I wish I brought the 90lbs :(. I had mine for 4 months and I got a feeling, I'm going to out grow them soon. You be surprised how much you can lift in a year or two. I never thought I would out grow my 50lbs. I would say the sweet spot is 70 but to be safe, it's best to get the 90's as well imo. Obviously you can keep the 50's, it means more reps and more time working out
