I wasn’t sure if I was going to cover this topic or not because I don’t do it anymore. I have 2 DP-24’s, which basically gives me a DP-48 when I sync them using MIDI, so I can avoid bouncing tracks. However, there are more reasons to bounce tracks other than just track limitations, so I decided to cover this topic anyway and share the results. I hope this video serves useful.

What u did as a kid was almost genius, that's amazing, I did kind of the sane with 2 radios making mixtapes before I ever knew how real dj's did it..
@christopherdunn3176 ай бұрын
Did the exact same thing ,used two crappy stereo units, and used the tape decks with a 4 channel radio shack mixer in between, and did it that way, then got all the rest like he said 4 track machine, then a better one ,then all to this ! But man if only we had this stuff back then would have been awesome ! you kids got it easy today ! But then where's the music scene today ? nothing like back then ! you were motivated to make it big like your stars ! now there's nothing but pop star status !

Hello Powercoat, Bouncing tracks on the DP24 or DP32 can easily be remixed! Let’s say you want to bounce source tracks 2,3,4, to track 1 You will need to clone the source tracks to a virtual track. You will need three tracks of the same type available. If not, create virtual tracks on say 5.6,7. (You can Create more Mono tracks if necessary) Next, clone tracks 2 to 5, 3 to 6, 4 to 7. Next create virtual tracks on 2,3, and 4. Now, copy tracks back 5 to 2, 6, to 3, 7 to 4 Now, bounce tracks 2,3 and 4 to track 1 Create a clean virtual track on 2,3, and 4. Now, proceed with your mix. If you ever want to remix the bounced tracks, load the virtual track you used on 2,3 and 4 and bounce again! When done, just reload the virtual track to get latest copy. This way, you now have have nearly a 240 track recorder with the dp24. Also, using this method, you can bounce tracks to one of the source tracks.

Excuse my ignorance.....1.does the track you are bouncing to have to be a free track...and 2. If so, can you bounce any number of tracks to the bounce track?
@PowercoatMusic Жыл бұрын
No. The track you are bouncing to does not need to be a free track but you will record over what's already there. Track bouncing allows you to collect signals of multiple tracks and use them to perform new mono or stereo recording. In this way, you can virtually record more than 24 tracks. Note, however, that the original tracks cannot be separated again. Thanks for watching. 👍🏿

Can the EQ settings for each individual track be bounced as well?
@PowercoatMusic Жыл бұрын
If I'm understanding your question as intended, when you bounce your merging 2 tracks into 1. With this, the sonic quality of each track is maintained but the settings are now subject to the newly merged track. Thanks so much for watching.

Hi. I’ve questions. 2: I have a Cooper PPS-2 MIDI sync. Can I use it to sync two DP recorders or would I need two PPS-2s? 2: I suppose I can stripe one channel on the DP then use it to sync an SR-16 drum machine or MIDI workstation. 3: Is there a way to use it to sync a VST from a computer? Thank you for being so helpful. I’ve been lost in DAW world for years, always distracted and frustrated. You’ve given my new hope!

If you haven't already, check out my video "Tascam DP24/DP32 SD Digital Portastudio: SYNC to MIDI (No Hardware Required)", on this channel. That should help with your ideas. Also, I wouldn't think of it as syncing VSTs specifically, just systems. 1 PPS-2 can sync 2 DPs. I master, 1 Slave. Thanks for watching. 👍🏿

Also, the DP32 SD is now $499 on Amazon. $599 everywhere else I can find. I wonder if they are dropping the 32 to help push the new 12 channel board/recorder. The Portastudio looks better for my needs but I will take a closer look. Thanks again!

Just curious, do you use both standalone and DAW and be honest. lol

The truth will set you free, right? I only use a DAW if I'm working with a client who does and demands it. Otherwise, I only use my DP-24s to record and produce with as that's what works best for me. Thanks for watching. 👍🏿

Hi, I have been writing and learning every instrument for my music for almost 30 years, I use a Boss br-600 because I love the guitar settings and its easy to use, need to record and make an album, I play too much to be the engineer and I am very mediocre at it anyway lol is im in NJ , can you tele how to get recording and if its worth anything what to do ?
@PowercoatMusic3 жыл бұрын
That’s a great question. If you have a DP-24 then you’ve started in the right place. I’ve spent a lot of time creating videos to try to help in this area. My best suggestion to you is to check out the DP Playlist on this channel. Lots of great information there on how to record and use that unit to get professional results. Also, I strongly suggest you check out the “Simply Explained” Playlist on this channel as well. This should get you off and running in the right direction. Thanks so much for watching and sharing. 👍🏿
