I cant w8thstand cold that well. So having ridden in extreme cold weathers, layering never works for me. So i use an Adventure jacket when in the mountains. But this is good if houre going to start your journey close to the himalayas. If youre riding 2-3 days to reach the mountains and adventure jacket is horrible. What i do is carry a mesh jacket as well but i remove the protective parts (back, Shoulder, elbow, chest) and that turns it into a fabric jacket whoch can be folded and stow it away. I use the rynox Stealth Evo adventure jacket and the Urban X. I swap the protective parts. Having 2 jackets from the same company helps. Of course there will be minor size differences in the protectors but nothing that will bother me. Yes it does take a bit of extra space but i carry minimal luggage, so not a problem at all. I shower the previous night before i sleep. Helps me sleep. Get up and wear the riding gear and off i go. I never shower before beginning a ride as within a few minutes ill be sweating. I never drink coffee. It might wake you up but it also dehydrates. Water, sugarcane juice, fruit juices, coconut water for me. I never ride after 5 or 6pm. Risk increases a lot once its dark. Get to a hotel, take a shower and relax. I dont carry a hydration pack as i hate anything on my back. When i feel thirsty, i just stop, get off the kotorcycle and drink water and stretch a bit. Rain liner, i use one with a hood. I wear the hood and the helmet on top of it so no water seeps in from the back of my neck.

It seems varun and me have the exact same rituals: 1. Fuel up 2. Tyre pressure check 3. Gears laid out. 4. No party sleep early 5. Wake up start the coffee machine 6. Freshen up 7. Gear up 8. Drink coffee leave. 9. Speak to the bike and say our prayers together. 10. Puncture repair kit and inflater always in the backpack Never thought anyone would be as finicky as me 😂😂

Really enjoyed the podcast, it feels very easy to connect with what you guys are discussing, I have done lots of touring on my car, but this year after owning my RC390 for 6 years, decided to do bike touring (first time), solo touring (first time) and I absolutely enjoyed it. it is like the best way to connect with bike and disconnect with the world. The experience gave me courage to do some more bike rides in the near future.

a disclaimer- tank to tank is something which requires you to have experience and stamina built for it. Don't aim for it on your first ever ride out.

I am desperately waiting for my Blore (via udipi) - Goa - Blore (via Sirsi) motorcycle ride in early Dec. Cant wait... 17:30 - bingo ! 19:58 - That's a ritual i picked up from Nicolas Cage in gone in 60 sec when he speaks to Elenor. 25:52 - even i eat light. mostly its water, juice and likewise. 47:35 - never understood the trend of riding on a scooter. Small tank, small tires, underpowered...etc.

The Bestest part of these podcasts is "Song recommendations" ❤ And I had the same horrible experience as Jehan on same stretch (Manor - Pune) at same time he mentioned. It was worst touring day of mine also. 😢

Great podcast, as usual. Just one thing - instead of carrying a spare visor, how about a pair of polarised sunglasses in a compact case/pouch? Any thoughts?
@ontheroad8149 Жыл бұрын
Absolutely - helmets like Axor, MT have drop down visors within the helmet that do the job especially for guys who wear spectacles. There’s a risk of the visor cracking in a luggage, hence not many prefer.

In kerala the maximum speed for two wheelers is 60kmph. It significantly affected the time planning of my last trip .😢
@hafeezmmd Жыл бұрын
What I heard last is that Kerala is planning to restrict bikes from riding on highways. Now, good luck touring on service roads.
@AnandA2155 Жыл бұрын
And also the roads are narrow with high population density. I am from Kerala and I feel like we have to be conscious all the time due to numerous pocket roads and the number of pedestrians on the road. And also, even when the twisties ( which most of the roads are) are far more enjoyable to ride than pure straights, it restricts the average speed you can carry and will tire you easily
