I agree with your comments on some of the problems you described are possible with some vocal coaches. Her mother said they didn't have a vocal coach for her because they were afraid it would change her uniqueness.
@TheWordSmith3654 ай бұрын
Absolutely, that's a significant point! Many artists, especially those with unique styles like Angelina, can sometimes be impacted by traditional vocal coaching methods that focus on technique at the expense of individuality. It's commendable that her mother recognized the importance of nurturing Angelina's natural talent and unique voice without imposing a standardized approach. Staying true to oneself while honing skills can create a powerful and authentic artist. Given Angelina's distinct sound and emotional depth, it seems that her mother made the right choice in allowing her to develop organically. If you have any further thoughts on this topic or want to explore more about her artistry, I'd love to hear them!

The most difficult question I can think of is "what is your favorite Angelina Jordan performance". For me that is unanswerable. She just always knows what to do with a song, even when she was young whether or not she could do it at the time or not. And yes, just as she did, if you learn on your own one should still seek advice on protecting one's voice.

I completely agree! Choosing a favorite performance from Angelina Jordan is nearly impossible because she brings something unique to every song. Her ability to connect emotionally and deliver such powerful interpretations, even at a young age, is truly captivating. And you’re right about the importance of taking care of one’s voice-seeking guidance can make a significant difference in any artist's journey. Her dedication and talent are inspiring! 🎤❤️

Your enthusiasm for her vocals is infectious! It’s amazing how an artist can captivate us with their voice and presence, making each performance feel special. I think Fairy Voice Mother spoke about Angelina's vibrato during her reaction to I Put a Spell on You at 7: 31, an interesting insight.
@TheWordSmith3654 ай бұрын
That sounds like a great observation! Angelina's vibrato is one of her standout features, and it's fascinating to hear different perspectives on it. Fairy Voice Mother's analysis must have shed some light on how Angelina uses her vocal technique to enhance her performances. That moment at 7:31 must have highlighted the nuances of her voice, making it all the more compelling. It's always enlightening to hear experts break down elements like vibrato, especially in such an iconic song.

That’s a fantastic observation! The combination of R&B with a "frybrato" technique adds a unique texture and emotional depth to the performance. Sustaining that vocal quality through both chest voice and mixed voice showcases an impressive level of control and artistry. It really highlights the singer's ability to blend different vocal styles while maintaining connection with the audience. Brilliant performances like this can truly elevate a song, allowing the artist to convey powerful emotions and create a memorable experience. Hi Karl. Toby and Angelina have been working together for quite a while now. They cowrote this plus 7 more songs. This performance was held at the " Jessie and friends Hotel Cafe" in LA the night before they flew to London(Andrew Lloyd Webber Palladium theatre, last May)for the presentation of Toby's Piano Diaryes Project where they performed If I were a boy, a song that Toby cowrote with a songwriter by the name of BCJean in the early 2000 that in 2008 Beyonce made internationally famous. That same night at the Cafe they also did a magnificent live version of If I were a boy. Check it out. James Thiel AKA The Summa Engeneer is your reference for it. Soon after the Palladium performance, in an interview at the BBC Toby said openly that Angelina is the greatest Artist he's ever worked with. How about that. 👍👏🫶👋

Some have even refused to accept that an opinion other than their own could b correct. 😀 Browsing your Playlist, I note that you have only featured three of the 14 songs written by her. So then; STOP Choosing Favourites! 🤣 It's the same with Dimash, Ren, Diana. All totally unique, all evolving and all top tier. For Angelina's 'Angels', her devoted fan base - thus far - just about everything she does is unbeatable, and she already has displayed her own excellent song writing / compositional akills. Her 'stop you in your tracks' timbre combined with this developing collaboration with Hit Maker; Toby Gadd however looks set to launch her to SuperStar status. Many are already saying Bad Valentine will be / already is a truly iconic stepping stone in this trajectory. Not that such a course was ever in doubt! 🤩😍

The reason this sounds so unique is because this song is written from the man’s perspective , and Jordan is singing it with a strong, masculine voice. He says “I thought I told you I would mess up, girl, I warned you right from the start.” It’s a follow up to Now I’m the Fool, from her Old Enough EP, a song about unrequited love. Now I’m the Fool is sung in a hurtful, feminine voice, in stark contrast to the voice she employs here. Listen to Now I’m the Fool and then immediately listen to Bad Valentine and hopefully you’ll understand what I’m trying to convey. No one gets this song because Jordan is singing and everyone assumes she is the bad valentine, which she most assuredly is not. He says, you even smile when you’re hurt, which fits Jordan’s personality perfectly, as she would never want anyone to feel badly for hurting her! She is a perfect empath, after all!

I hear “I thought I told you I would mess up your heart” which rhymes perfectly with the next line “I warned you right from the start”
@kerrythomas62204 ай бұрын
@@CraigHolbrook-ii3xc that doesn’t make any sense in the context of the song
@kerrythomas62204 ай бұрын
@@CraigHolbrook-ii3xcat no time does what she sings remotely sound like mess up your heart, especially at the end of the song. And what makes you think those two lines need to rhyme, she’s telling a story, not writing a poem. Go listen to Now I’m the Fool.

@@kerrythomas6220sometimes we can over interpret the autobiographical nature of art . I have heard claims for girl and heart . I suppose we have to wait for the official lyrics.

@@jeremybutler2166 No need to wait, it’s pretty obvious what Bad Valentine is all about. All you have to do is listen to the songs back to back, starting with Now I’m the Fool.

By definition, an original talent sounds like something that is not what people are used to, and so for many sounds like something unacceptable by current standards. Johnny Cash had a music teacher who said she could teach him things but he was better off with his own style. Somehow a voice-trained Bob Dylan just wouldn't be Bob. You can't teach originality.
@TheWordSmith3654 ай бұрын
That's a profound observation! Originality in music-and art in general-often stems from an artist's unique perspective and personal experiences. In many cases, the most impactful artists are those who embrace their distinct styles rather than conforming to existing standards or expectations. The examples of Johnny Cash and Bob Dylan highlight the idea that true creativity is often about tapping into one's authentic voice rather than adhering to technical perfection. Cash's music teacher recognized that his raw, honest style was his strength; similarly, Dylan's idiosyncratic delivery and songwriting set him apart from more traditional standards of vocal training. This concept suggests that originality can't be taught in a conventional sense; rather, it requires an artist to explore their own identity, influences, and emotions. When artists allow themselves the freedom to express who they are, they create music that feels fresh and resonant, even if it challenges existing norms. Embracing this kind of authenticity is often what resonates most deeply with listeners. In a world of mass-produced and formulaic music, truly original voices can often stand out and create lasting connections through their uniqueness. This is a reminder that true artistry often flourishes in the spaces where rules are bent or broken.

Once again, an excellent reaction. I am not sure if you have reacted to Dutch singer Emma Kok. She sang Voila with Andre Rieu last year at the age of 15/ She is on a world tour with him. She has a medical condition that Andre explains in that video. They just released a new song that I believe was written for her called Dancing on the stars. It is really good. If you get the opportunity, I recommend that you check it out. Thanks again

Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm glad you enjoyed the reaction. I haven't had the chance to react to Emma Kok yet, but she sounds like an incredibly talented young artist, especially performing with someone as renowned as André Rieu at such a young age! Her story, particularly regarding her medical condition and the support she has from André, adds a powerful layer to her music and performances. "Dancing on the Stars" sounds like a compelling song-it's always uplifting to see artists creating music that resonates personally. I’ll definitely make it a point to check out her work and consider reacting to her in the future. Thanks for the recommendation! If you'd like to share any specific details about the song or her music, I'd love to hear them. Your insights really enhance the discussion! 🌟🎶

@@TheWordSmith365 In 2021, Barbara Pravi Sang Voila representing France in the Eurovision song contest. The song came in 2nd place. Emma's interpretation of the song is outstanding. Most people in the audience were crying. She doesn't speak French. I understand that she learned the song phonetically. They performed the song in Maastricht, Netherlands last year. She has been on a world tour with Andre. As to the song Dancing on the stars, the composer of the song was in the audience in the video. As I said, I think the song was written for her. She has such a strong powerful voice. Her medical condition is Gastroparesis, which I believe she had since she was very young. As a side note, she won the Voice Kids in the Netherlands at age 12. Fascinating journey for this little princess.

I hate to break the news to you but, this song has already been done better. Of course, as you may have intuited, the performance of the "better" version is Angelina's "jazzy version". She has reinterpreted it and changed the mood and emotions she generates. I hope you will give it some your attention because it is really amazing and is a favorite of most of the Angels.
