It will be a little while unfortunately. But I'm close to getting my transmission done so that is a big step. Next will be the ford 9" and after that hopefully I can move a little faster on getting it back together. Im trying man!!! HAHA -Dane

I'm staring at a 1967 powerglide out of my impala, and at first I was very intimidated about rebuilding the transmission myself, but after your video, this looks do-able. still got a lot of research to do though.
@Burndown5 жыл бұрын
You can do it man. Especially since your just going to replace worn out parts and seals. If your not modifying it at all its really not that bad. You in So Cal? If you are I can send you to a good spot to get your rebuild kit. -Dane

@@Burndown I'm in PA, but I looked up a rebuild kit on rock auto. Also considering swapping the 1.82 to 1.69 I found on summit racing. worse comes to worse, if I break this one, I found another one on Jegs. Me and my bro were discussing this tonight and we're going to attempt to pull it apart in the next couple weeks.

@@DerekSchwartz The 1:82 will hold a bit of power. They put them behind small blocks. The big block cars and trucks got the 1:76 gear set. I would like to do an aftermarket planetary at some point. They are noisy if you get the straight cut gears tho FYI. Good luck on your rebuild. Its not too bad man. You got this.

@@Burndown Hey there, thanks again for making this Video, me and my bro were able to take apart the entire powerglide transmission, referenced your video multiple times. Overall it's worn down from use. The planetary gear has some metal shavings rattling in it so we're forced to get a new one. Looking at a 1.69:1 ratio from FTI Performance

@@DerekSchwartz Your welcome man! Its what I was working on so that is why I made them. Let me know when you put it back together if you were successful? Thanks for watching! -Dane

How much power are you running through it?
@Burndown Жыл бұрын
The most I made on the dyno with it was 750 at the wheels

Did you ever find out where that spring went, I have the same problem
@Burndown4 жыл бұрын
I have not watched the episode but I feel like its the spring that goes behind the vacuum modulator when you screw it into a stock valve body. If you run an after marked valve body with a brake you wont need that spring or the modulator.

Did you need to use a crank spacer when using the power glide?
@Burndown5 жыл бұрын
Yes so the converter stays in the pump.

I used the bad shoe videos to do the wife’s powerglide. I’m more of a visual learner, but I have the book also. Did you find a 1.76 gear set for it? You’re not planning to use the 1.82 are you? If you are looking for a 1.76, let me know. I have a stock 1.76 available.
@johnstonracing67155 жыл бұрын
Never mind, just saw the what is happening video and saw you have a 1.76 available.

@@johnstonracing6715 Yeah I just got a planetary. What are you looking to get for yours? Now that im learning to put these things together may be able to use another one. I could just buy some 1:80 gears for it. You local?

I’m in Vegas, I’d sell it for $50. Pulled it outta the wife’s racecar when she went to a dragster. Had to switch to a short gear set.

No guts no glory.. Bad shoes productions sells a dvd you can download on rebuilding your trans. The guy does a good visual rebuild and it's cheap.
