My father and I picked out a Z71 Silverado brand new in 1999. He and I worked for 10+ years side by side in that truck every day, every family vacation was taken in it, and tons of awesome adventures. My father passed away, but I still drive it every day to and from work. Several things I refuse to change on it just because it reminds me of him. Nearly 21 years and almost 300k miles have been done with either my dad or myself at the wheel. A new engine will be in it's future, as I will never live a day without that truck in my life. This engine would be awesome to make sure it keeps going for many more years.

I can work on it in my garage, don't need a qazillion $$ in tools. The only "HI TECH" thing I own is a timing light. I have owned this car for 40 years, and it's been a rock solid build. Phil Auten yeahhh it’s pretty bad, but ford doesn’t have any strong and basically built old motors you can pull from wrecking yards and throw boost at without much trouble, that and the ls is just so simple and easy to swap into anything and make great power, and if it grenades there’s plenty more to pick for another $270. When I was starting to work on my own car back in the 1960s, my first few cars were made in the 1950s. They were simple and you didn't need specialized tools. Gas was cheap and so were the cars. I didn't pay more than $100 for a car until I was 18. I didn't know a lot about auto mechanics back then, Now cars are computerized and sensitive, and they cost a lot more, even for the 'beaters'. They aren't as much fun to tinker with.
