I 'liked' your comment because I was in the same situation rebuilding a Ford 351W. After blowing so much cash on Ford's I went Chevy and never looked back however Ford has simple electrical troubleshooting processes which I'll give credit to but a Fluke device makes it easier on a Chevy. Good luck on your future engine build. 🔧

I have a 427 in my 1966 Chevelle which was built in 1983 by a big block Chevy expert and it still runs great. It’s fast. I’ve had it rev to 8000 rpm. It was built with Isky triple valve springs and high quality parts.

I'm a Big fan of the 427 in early Chevelle iron I had a 68 Chevelle years ago with a 450 HP 427 and a super T10 The heads I got from a buddy were the snow flake GM Chevy Aluminum Rec port they were 113 CC heads I used to old Tarantula intake and an 850 cfm Holley . I used Hooker Super comps with a single tube out the frame rail a 12 bolt 4;56 rear and a set of cut Moroso trick springs up front with 90/10s I used the Zoom clutch & Pressure plate kit . I trimmed as much as possible from the rear wheel opening to use the 11 inch M&H I had . they did rub once in a blue but not bad ...I miss that car more than the 70 CUDA 440 6pack I used to own Or the many GTOs ..a guy I knew had the same car but with a 396 who did a hit and run when I got back to the shop monday morning the entire Nose clip was stolen from my own Chevelle . it took a couple of days but I got word some kid name Ray was rattle can painting a New front clip for his 68 Chevelle.. I'm pretty sure I was Born a motorhead .I got my first 66 Chevelle 300 Deluxe when I was 15 .. My last Chevelle was a sweet heart White with black interior 72 SS 402 only it had the TH400 .

After all those mods, this old big block makes about 505 horses, which the LS7 does right out of the box. In fact, I would be willing to bet that the LS7 makes closer ton 550 hp right out of the crate. Looks like the great LS heads and 4.125v4.0 B/S has the advantage. I still do not understand why this big block makes that much less power. You would think that it's bigger bore and shorter stroke would be a great recipe for both power and torque. I bet aftermarket heads holds much more power and torque.
@Yann396
@Yann396 2 жыл бұрын
True that!! A stock LS7 would push around 550-580 on a engine dyno with a flat tappet cam and “outdated” stock iron heads. The engine in the video should’ve push 600+hp with that setup.

ID say 400 is safe its kinda a rule of thumb thing. Most engines can push twice the horsepower than it came from factory with, mostly due to fuel injection and computer tuning. Even a little civic engine a d16y7 that comes with 105 HP can put down 225 wheel hp reliably. Most engines seem to last at double horsepower on stock parts. If you are going with supercharger turbo or nitrous take pistons out and gap rings and put them back into same cylinder.
