One can end prepositions at the end of sentences. Churchill did it all the time. Moreover, according to Grammarians since the 1970s, the word "whom" has been dropped and "who" can be used for the objective pronoun. Therefore, these sentences are permissible: 1. Whom are you with? 2. Who are you with?

It's perfectly okay to end a sentence with a preposition. The idea that you cannot comes from Latin grammar rules and crept into English back when English teachers knew and taught Latin to. "Flip off" is a phrasal verb, meaning a verb with a preposition after it, and it is separable, meaning the object can go before or after the preposition.
@persey72416 жыл бұрын
@Bobby Brady I don't know about Latin and its grammar rules, but what he said about phrasal verbs is correct

Latin or what ever you call it first English doesn't derive from america at all so get that out of your head and remember there happens to be British English(more appropriate)Australian English(similar too British but different by a hair) and american English and you just kinda made yourself look like a hypocrite honestly as ending a sentence with flip off is unfinished and doesn't make sense seriously its only different if you add a ing to flip such as Jake was flipping miss pasternack off as your statement is made tells you who and what describing action that took place and who was involved not adding the ing would be Jake can you turn the light off.. Light being the equivalent to flip but not really now its a whole new sentence and ending with a preposition is appropriate because the action is turn the who is jake but the off still belongs at the end of the sentence as light is the end of the question and off is part of the questioning and wouldnt make sentence if you said Jake The light turn on see no matter how it sounds except saying Jake Can you turn off the light which is now not ending the sentence in a proposition as flip off may be phrasal but phrasing it to whom in the sentence before you say flip off doesnt go right so no matter how you word it and yes I'm well aware of latin rules in your comment you proved miss pasternack right and said she was wrong or historically incorrect which is untrue latin language just like most world languages speak of a what, who, where and when and sometimes how when speaking without being too overly descriptive so flip miss pasternack off in any language is bad form not only the bad prepositional usage but the sentence makes it look like the word off belongs to miss pasternack is the point so translated it does come off as confusing

Kids, stay off of drugs and learn to use periods and commas (see example above).

This is true. English isn't even derived from Latin. (It's Germanic.) "Don't end sentences with prepositions" is just one of those things people mindlessly repeat in an attempt to sound smart.

The way I see it, Jake's mistake was getting caught. His dad and uncle needs to teach him a little stealth.

Love Charlie in this scene. He cares about Jake and all and admit he might be a bad influence on him (in a way) but also didn't stop being Charlie with the "It's Ms. Pasternak right?" 🤣🤣.

I think this show and friends is a must watch, they are too good, well at least until the part where charlie leave the show, because after that the writing is crap.
