When I finished my 11 day water fast I was slowly easing back into food, first with liquids, soup and then soft cooked veggies. I totally coincidentally I made cabbage soup with turmeric and all the other goodies he mentioned in his 4 day gut reset. I knew about most of the benefits except for the liver enzymes, so thats something to keep in mind for the future. I'm currently doing a 3 day fast and I think I will make this soup to break my fast. Excellent information.

@@sports872 Good as long as I don't rush the refeed. I've made the mistake of binging after a fast when I was new to it and you feel constipated and like something heavy is just sat in your gut, probably because you gut isn't ready or fully back into it's normal rythme so soon after a fast. After a few days you can usually eat pretty normally if you want although many fasting sites will tell you take it super slow.

This is how I made Dr. Gundry's delicious cabbage soup: 1 large green cabbage, 5 parsnips, 2 turnips, 2 sweet potatoes, 1 onion, 1/2 head of garlic, 1.5 inch turmeric root, 2 inch ginger root, 2 heads of celeriac (I used some of their green tops as well), 3 (32oz.) organic chicken broth, plus 2.5 cups of water, few tablespoons of olive oil, 1.5 tablespoons of Herbamare herbed sea salt, 1-1.5 teaspoons of black pepper, 1 teaspoon of Trader Joes Soffritto seasoning blend (I know it has some of Dr. Gundry's lectin ingredients) but it adds a wonderful flavor to the soup. Feel free to skip it. I chopped all the veggies and sauteed in olive oil on low heat for a good 10 minutes stirring frequently. Add the chicken broth, mix well and let cook on medium heat, covered for 45 minutes or so. I added the 1.5 tablespoons of Herbamare (in stages) and Soffritto blend towards the last 20 minutes of cooking. Feel free to use less flavorings to your liking :) I make a large batch and freeze some. It freezes really well and tastes just as good. Enjoy :)

You should never be vegan permanently. Look up vegan influencers. Extremely aged skin and dull hair from no animal fat, sickly green skin and no muscle tone with weird looking muscles from the lack of animal protein. 1000 yard stare, delusions (one vegan influencer started a cult and called himself God), low fertility, mental and nerve issues that mimic black mold nerve damage. One man saved his entire family who went vegan by sneaking fish oil into their food. Only when they ate hidden fish oil did they look at themselves and see something was wrong. We have no other way to get micronutrients and they keep finding more that vegans need to supplement to avoid brain damage.

For me, the holidays (or birthdays or anniversaries, etc.) are absolutely no reason for me to go off my plan. My mantra is to continually repeat to myself the highest item in my hierarchy of actions and activities -- my VERY BIG WHY -- I'm 75 and my VERY BIG WHY is that I don't want "them" to put me in that home and feed me Ensure. As a former 35-year "healthy eating" vegetarian and frequent vegan, I was becoming sicker and sicker as the years went by. Twenty-two months ago I switched to eating the Carnivore diet. In that time all my former ailments have vanished -- prediabetes, arthritis, high blood sugar, brain fog, gum disease, and on and on. Now I know how much fun it is to live without any diagnoses, take no pills, never be hypoglycemic, never be hungry between meals, never have cravings for the former junk that I ate. And I can eat all I want and not gain back the 40-pounds that I lost. So when faced with a pizza party or birthday cake or whatever, It it is easy for me to simply see it as "not food" and avoid it. My trick is to eat before any event and to bring some Carnivore-based food so I can join in on the social-eating activities. This way, I never need the Great Post Holiday Reset!
@dontrend5956 Жыл бұрын
Has your doctor checked your cholesterol levels and if so, are they higher than they were on the plant based diet? I'm asking because I'm considering the carnivore diet.
@panamafred1 Жыл бұрын
Don, from what I understand, and I am an old retired carpenter and not a doctor, we need cholesterol. I've heard that our brains are 50% cholesterol, and every cell in the body uses it. Many Carnivores will see an increase in LDL and also HDL, but a decrease in triglycerides, not a normal picture. The difference between a person eating a high carb Standard American Diet (SAD) and another person eating a very low or zero carb diet (Keto/Carnivore) is this: The SAD causes inflammation throughout the body. This inflammation oxidizes the LDL cholesterol and this causes coronary issues/calcium buildup in the arteries. But the foods that the very low/zero carb eater consumes do not cause body-wide inflammation/oxidization, and therefore no/little coronary damage is done (no/very little calcium builds up in the arteries). I have seen reports that Carnivores' Calcium Artery Scores go down to normal/very low. So oxidized LDL bad, unoxidized LDL good. There is also relatively new information about Lean Mass Hyper Responders (Google it) that gives further good news to Carnivores. Please research for yourself as I may be off a bit on my understanding. Hope this helps. Best wishes, good luck. @@dontrend5956

I will do this reset because I want to. I only do what I want in my life. All this nonsense about carnivores,vegans,keto,vegetarians and whatever else makes m3 a little crazy. Earth has all we need. Oxygen,water,soil, and food. Food comes in many forms. Vegetables,fruit, tubers,herbs, and many forms of animals. We are meant to eat consume all. As is available. Meant to eat only amounts we need. The problems have risen only because we think we are clever. We started to make things to consume artificially! Don't eat or drink ANYTHING not coming from nature. It is harmful to us all. Follow that rule and you will be healthy and happy😊. Thanks for your attention.
@SA-ju1zu Жыл бұрын
I appreciate your sentiment here! I wish it was true about we were meant to eat everything. We have lost touch with our internal gut sense about what to eat and what not to eat. Ask a cow or a wolf! They will tell you that they know what to eat and what not to eat. Wolves don’t eat carrion, and cows don’t eat plants from the nightshade family - something Dr Gundry claims is a no no as well and our ancestors have developed work arounds for like seeding and peeling our tomatoes. I think humans need to get in touch more with these things, not forget about.

You misunderstood. Dr. Gundry suggested the Quorn meat, which tastes like chicken but it is in fact a mushroom type of vegan "meat" so not the real meat! LOL

I would be interested to know if you stick to these ingredients if you'd get the same effect. This list of ingredients could easily be turned into a simple stir-fry or curry if you leave out the rice, noodles, or flat breads.

NO REAL MEAT should be put into the soup, just a vegan Quorn meat!

How can you make the cabbage soup with more calories for people that are naturally thin.
@kawaiikaikee Жыл бұрын
I gained quite a bit of weight over my pregnancy, not following the plant paradox diet I was following before. I am now breastfeeding and wish to also start getting my body back, but I am worried about calorie restrictions and how that would affect my milk supply.

Same boat. I literally lost ten lbs since giving birth nearly 11 months ago. My son was 8.4lbs… 😑 aim still nusrsing but want to drop the 30lbs+ i gained while pregnant ! Have you found anything yet?
@middleworldwitch48106 ай бұрын
You should not calorie-restrict or fast while pregnant or nursing. I've heard a number of fasting proponents say this, and I agree. You're trying to grow a baby at those times. Give yourself a break during those times, it's for the best. Those are times to be eating plenty of healthy food. Even if you think you're lectin-sensitive, there's still plenty of good foods you can eat. Also, stay away from processed foods and the bad seed oils. Dr. Cate Shanahan has lots of info about how industrially processed seed oils are so bad for us. This is just my experience, not medical advice.

This only works for me as long as there are no oxalates or lectins in the soup. If there is the inflammation gets worse. I have to stick to only cruciferous veggies.
@MsGewb Жыл бұрын
Hi what veg have oxalates in this soup? I’m just starting day 3 and don’t feel great. Not hungry just lethargic and a bit spaced out! I followed his recipe and also added mushrooms. The herb seasoning I added has chili as the last ingredient so didn’t think that would be a problem. I’d like to persevere but if I can change something in the next batch I will! Thank you!
