There is an epidemic of high blood pressure (hypertension) happening, and it's the one thing you want to control because it can cause heart attacks, strokes, plaque build-up in the arteries (atherosclerosis), among other ailments. Treating high blood pressure's root cause, metabolic syndrome, is key to lowering it and having a complete cardiac examination. So in this video, I will explain why the workup of high blood pressure in most patients is incomplete.

When I was younger, back in UK, I had purchased a house that required major renovations - taking most of my income and requiring me to get a second job. I worked on the house myself for a long time, and during that time, I barely had money for food - all resources going towards the house. I literally survived on 500 calories a day for years - which I scrounged from work or family. Never felt better. Alert, not bloated and lethargic, full of energy and really quite happy with my lot. Fell in love, got married and moved to the US. Now I had access to food any time I wanted it, in huge amounts - yep, I gained 150 lbs (was 125 and 5’8”). Feel awful most of the time, have diabetes with kidney complications, hypertension, fatty liver, and last year uterine cancer. ALL of these things are caused by my being overweight. Watching this doctors videos, I’m reminded of what I used to know - ultra low calorie / fasting diets actually make us healthy. I am inspired to try and give myself a break and sort out the unhealthy habits I have formed. Wish me luck!

Hey Brother! I appreciate your comment. The best I felt (health wise) was when I was sparsely eating. Fasting. Practice fasting. And you will reap benefits far beyond just what the eyes can see. Eat CLEAN and WHOLE foods and eat meat sparingly (red meat). The mental challenge is actually following through with fasting. But with that initial success comes easier fasting sessions and very real health benefits both body and mind and spirit. The bible speaks of Fasting and many things that are absolutely as crucial today as it was 2000 years ago. God bless you and congrats to making it to your 50s and your success with your house in UK and your move to USA. Greetings and blessings from N Carolina coast!

They mostly advise to clean your lifestyle up as well as prescribing meds. Doctors don't need tk go looking for it when they know that most who go to them with HT are eating crap, drinking and smoking for at least 3 or 4 decades Yeah they treat the symptom. That's their job. It's the patients job to make the changes they need to make

@@K_j_M What a crock! Docs should be more like the doc in this video. MOST American Doctors are lazy and I know this from personal experience. In other English speaking countries there's a higher percentage of docs that focus on life style changes and prevention before prescribing meds. @@JohnYoga Hi John, I am now 5 months in on LCHF. My eating window is sometimes 1 hour, but sometimes 4 or even 6 hours. I do think it was mostly giving up sugar and carbs that got my BP to normal range quickly more than IF. Sad because I have always loved sugar , but it was definitely impacting my health. I never have been much overweight. At highest I was 143 and 5’ 5”. Glad to be back to high school weight of 119 though. Lost 23 lbs. I do think our regular medical community is not addressing our metabolic issues very well at all. I have felt better advised by books and online doctors and seminars than my own doctor. Good luck on getting BP down. You can do this!

In 2017 my brother was weighing 330 lbs at a height of 5'10" with a medium bone structure. In 2018 he decided to do something about it but he did not want gastric surgery. He was sent to a nutritionist by his doctor .he was told what are foods he should eat and what foods he needed to eliminate. Also he was told to start exercising.the doctor was surprised that my brother was not diabetic and more surprised that my brother did not have high blood pressure. He was told to get off Sweet and Low which he had been using in his coffee since he was 18 yrs old .He was told to switch to Stevia .Stevia comes from a plant in South America. He made a big decrease in eating bread and tortillas. Also cut back on carbs like rice ,potatoes ,noodles, cookies ,patriesand sodas. About a year or a year and a half later he was down to 214 lbs.He has maintained this weight for 4 yrs.He was taken off his CPAP machine which he used for sleep apnea.I am very proud of my brother for deciding to do something about his weight problem and doing it without getting gastric surgery.

While too much carbohydrates may be harmful there is no need to cut them out altogether just limit them to government/medical guidelines. There's eating sensibly and eating fanatically and the latter is impossible to maintain long term. The main goal should be to cut out refined sugar and refined carbohydrates such as white bread and processed foods. If you want the odd slice of brown toast have it,. if you want the odd potato have it it won't harm you. Medical orthodoxy has already demonised fat so let's not the new orthodoxy demonise carbohydrates. It's all about moderation and not eating too much of any one thing. If you eliminate processed foods then really you are indirectly limiting the amount of refined carbohydrates you're consuming. That alone should cure your ills

@peterlearner8594

Cut out all refined sugar and refined carbohydrates but I don't think it's necessary to cut out carbohydrates altogether. Carbohydrates like anything else are only harmful when eaten in excess. You have to have some carbohydrates as part of a balanced diet and your own mental health. There are two types of fanaticism, one fat is bad brigade and the other, all carbohydrates are bad brigade. Just cut down on both, but certainly eliminate refined sugar altogether

Will start working out a bit more in the gym and maybe eating once a week a couple to 3 times a week as of next week.. My blood sugar level has gradually decreased but not yet in optimal levels. The excitement has motivated me to continue. Insulin resistance is caused by deficiencies in Chromium, vanadium and alpha lipoic acid. There are numerous blood sugar supplements that contain these things. I sometimes take KAL blood sugar support and on other days I take sunergetic brand blood sugar support. On days when I intermittent fast I don't take any blood sugar pills. My Mother used to be type 2 diabetic and now eats carbs daily and her sugar stays stable as long as she takes the blood sugar supplements. Her A1C is now at the level of a non diabetic.

This is the absolute truth. I NEVER had a doctor tell me this, test me for this or guide me on how to fix it. I did a lot of research on why I couldn’t lose weight and I diagnosed myself with Metabolic Syndrome. I switched my diet, bought a glucose meter, regulated my insulin, ate Whole Foods, started intermittent fasting. I’ve lost 80 pounds and my cardiologist just took me off all my blood pressure meds. Amazing results. My only anger is that the medical community was no help in guiding me in the direction I needed to go. I wish I was armed with this information years ago. Also, don’t think your insulin level has to be off the charts. My fasting insulin was 108 ( normal is 100 and below). Had a doctor bothered to do a complete metabolic work up on me I could have had the information I needed. Sad that many of us felt so defeated for so many years. Remember, it’s not your FAULT, but it is your problem.

Like C-reactive protein. Docs would say this or that, but mostly dumbfounded. "You have RA, PA, blah blah. Actually early on I suggested to PCP it might be parasites. Tested twice and negative. They were colon type tests. 9 months later I got cured. Myself did it. I had parasites in my liver, river flukes. Picked them up on a trip to Pacific northwest. I killed them and got them out. I live in Asia, 38, been diagnosed with high blood pressure. Too much abuses, from alcohol due to stress and life in general to food for a while even tho I was always exercising etc. high blood pressure but under some small amount of medicines, no big doses here . Been cutting almost all carbs 6 days a week. Fasting 15 hours. That was enough for me. Diner early. Breakfast late. 3 meals a day. Eating almost no fruits except berries. Tons of cruciferous vegetables. Few cheat meals once in a while, rarely tho, with sushis, no Mac Donald’s or stuff like that. Juicing cabbage and céleri, drinking coconut water, exercising, good sleep. High blood pressure just vanished. The doctor was almost shocked. I actually had to stop the medecine cause it was almost too low. Without it it’s now always around 110 to 118 120 max. Exercising at home but with real motivation also got my BPM going down drastically. From 55 57 to 70 maximum at rest. And 70 is really rare. Used to be up to 90 to 100 a lot of time. 85 minimum and at rest. I insist. Body weight went down ultra fast too. I now sleep better, have more energy, manage to listen to myself more. Know when to eat, when to sleep - and sleeping has never been so good. I don’t mean to show off or anything, and I’m sorry for any spelling mistakes as I am not a native English speaker, French here. But I just wanted to share my experience cause I’ve been there, I know what a nightmare it can be, and I just want the people who are in the condition I used to live and endure to know that it can be done.

Good confirmation that I am on the right track to remove a sudden increase in my blood pressure, up to as high as 220/105 (scary). Aggressive fasting has brought that down to average 160/90, and my weight is coming down. More fasting to come. I have discovered that controlled breathing will bring my BP down to a “high normal” momentarily. I have also found an exercise that works for me. Where I work there are 2 flights of 16 stairs above one another and I started with 3 circuits up and down for a count of approx 100 stairs. Knee problems have disappeared, and stamina has increased as I can now do those in sets of 5, and multiple times a day.

I am a pilot with a heart pressure reading on my annual medical of 183/112. I feel fine, but my wings are now clipped. I must lower my heart rate and prove to the FAA that one meal a day works. However, I am now restarting the videos by Dr. Pradip. I began two days ago (same as my exam failure),and in those two, days I have already seen a lowering in my blood pressure to 161/98. I need to get myself back on track. The sad thing? I already had lost 90 lbs on my own through calorie counting and excercise. Begain body building and now I am up to 240 LBS. Never the less, with the knowledge I am getting here, I see my mistakes, I see where I didn't monitor what I am eating. So, I am going back and doing it right! I'll keep you all posted on my efforts.

Yes. All are excellent forward and critical thinking doctors. This is what is sorely missing in most medical practices.......learning how to get at the root causes of illness and disease as opposed to merely treating symptoms. Facilitating a patient's healing often will not require use of the doctor's prescription pad. Tragically, the docs are not taught this in medical school. Way too much influence from Big Pharma.

High BP has a great deal to do with the autonomic nervous system, the sympathic and parasympathic. There is a dominance of sympathic and I have gone to many doctors and none of them know anything about this, and it appears that this doctor doesn't know about this either. Intermittant fasting is important. Control the sympathic dominance. This has a lot to do with heart disease also.

Been fasting 16:8 most of the time and occasionally skipping one of those meals. Snoring has stopped. Energy level up. BP has not changed much but did notice my heart rate has gone down a bit (not sure how to interpret that). Skipping meals is totally easy since the carb cravings are gone. I never wake up hungry anymore. I plan on hitting 200 this year. Btw, i barely ever hit 20 carbs a day even though i’m allowed about 32.

I made immediate changes such as no processed food, no table salt, no sweets, less bread, and plenty of water. Even though I have been on BP medication for well over a year now, I feel that I have lost control and my eating habits have worsened with increased stress and anxiety. I am determined to change this through diet, exercise, and fasting. Today is where I make the changes needed to get me on the path to a healthy lifestyle and a happy mindset. At 5'7 and 178 pounds, my goal is to get around 165 and BP in the 125/85 range. I will check in after several weeks. This doctor is very informative and easy to understand. The first time was after I learned the magnesium supplement she recommended might not be as beneficial as a blend of Mag Taurinate, Mag Citrate and Mag Molate I learned about on your site.. Her reply after doing her own research and getting back to me was,, "oh yes, thats better. Take that one". The 2nd time was my questioning her thoughts on adding K2 to my supplements (as you've described in detail in a different video. Her reply, "hmmm, I don't know anything about K2. You must understand western medicine is not about prevention. We are not taught things like this." OMG was my thought, on the inside. She is young and does seem to have an interest in learning about prevention. I am in my 70's and been on BP meds for 15-20 yrs. I developed heart palpitations about a year following my second mRNA shot. Not saying it's the reason. Honestly have no idea. I am going to try what you have recommended and adding K2, and decreasing the dose of Calcium supplements that my doc recommended being I have osteopenia. I had a complete metabolic work up in Sept, with another one due in March. I want to see how my numbers change between now and then. Thanks again!

Dr. Jamnadas- I want to personally thank you for your committement to prevention as it relates to cardiovascular health. I have personally dealt with pre-hypertension for the last 15 years due to hyperaldosterone. I've at CAT scans of my adrenals, Stress Test and other workups. HOWEVER, I never considered that I might have elevated insulin levels. I've have attempted IF throughout the last 10 years and made attempts to clean up my diet. I am currently on day 2 of a 5-day waterfast and feel great! I had omitted large amounts of sugar and processed foods prior so the transition was not difficult. I've never done a 5-day water fast (ACV and Electrolytes in my water only) but am hopeful that I can get off my meds (was taking 1-50mg dose of spironolactone) Not taking it on the fast and BP is great! I am in the medical industry as an OT and also a Functional Medicine Health Coach working with clients. To be a role-model for my clients I am committed to this challenge. Thank you for your clear and thorough explanations in your short videos and lectures. I have shared many with clients to provide it as education to gather information and allow them to make their own decisions or share with their personal clinician.

Thank you Dr J! I'm a health pro & I've been studying this info on the hormonal imbalance that causes metabolic syndrome. I've been doing IF, walking, & eating a very different diet. My lab work is quite good, my weight is finally coming down, & the inflammation I've had is decreasing. The proof is in the pudding.

Dr. Jamnada, I just wanted to thank you so much for providing SO MUCH great information and helping me make major changes in my health. I'm 64 years old and have been about 30 to 40 pounds overweight since my early 50s. The insulin resistance that you speak of sounds like that's exactly my problem. I started intermittent fasting 3 weeks ago and have totally change my diet to a healthy keto diet. I have lost 12 pounds already and are feeling so much better. My blood pressure has been averaging 140s by upper 80s (and that's on 3 blood pressure meds) and is now in the lower 130s by 70s. This is a lifestyle change that I believe I can stick with. Listening to you speaking on these matters is very motivating to me. My own daughter is a doctor and of course I wasn't listening to her advice. But you have changed my life and I truly thank you for that!

Thank you Doctor for all the wonderful lifesaving information you share on this channel. May God bless you abundantly and keep you safe. This helped me lower my A1C from 5.6 (where the higher end of normal is 5.9) to 5 (where the lower end is 4.8). Prior to this, I had no refined sugar, definitely no soda and generally tried to eat a healthy whole food diet, and walk as often as possible. My bmi was a little over 25. In spite of all efforts, nothing changed. Diabetes runs in my family and I had no intention of falling prey to it so I started looking for solutions, and found this Chanel. I started intermittent fasting last year around September. Did 18/6, mixed with occasional 36 hour fasting and one 3 day water fast. It was a game changer. I lost about 20 pounds ( bmi is now in the normal range) and sleep much better now. I still want to lose a little more weight, but exercise and strength training should help with that. But, I’ll never stop intermittent fasting. Thank you 🙏🏼!

I'm 62. I was diagnosed with high blood pressure about 10 years ago and have been taking Atenolol 2.5 mg and Lisinopril 1.25 mg daily. I went on a low carb diet for 3 months starting January 1. I went from 169 lbs. to 139 lbs. My BP readings now indicate hypotension. Today: 98/61, 78/49 and 87/60. Often when I stand up, I almost black out.

@@gauthambhatd.v868 yes. I noticed that if I do low carbs in the last month. it went down tremendously. Now I’ll just have to find time to add a good jog, walk routine to help lower the number more. Also if I decide to eat carbs, then I’ll have to exercise. (Sigh) my life.

I have finally got my BP down at least overnight to normal levels, but my daytime BP is still kinda high. About a month ago I started to get what looked like a water drop in the corner of my eye (very bad situation). I immediately bought an ABPM and started looking for answers. The first step was to get rid of all seed oils, sugar, and food like products. The next step was to add in the fasting. Did a few days of water fast and my BP actually went up a little and I started getting concerned so backed off the fasting from 3day to 1 or 2 days. Now finally in the last week or so it has dropped considerably (especially at night). I suspect fatty liver correcting itself, but I am not really sure. I eliminated coffee and have been taking any generic type supplement that may help (D3,K2.CoQ10,magnesium,etc). I went from 170/100 daytime and 150/90 night to 145/85 daytime and under 120/80 night in about 30 days. You have been a great help in achieving this. TY sir.

Love his teaching, not "dumbing it down"...I've been following since late August 2022 and keep on reviewing his videos as they are so helpful...it is not a psychological approach (NOOM) but the educational approach...such a difference and feel better about slowly losing 12 pounds over 2 months. I used to think that if I missed a meal it was a big deal, but really it is good nutrition and so much sense. Finally!
