@Starwars Fan360 All your responses are just proving my point. When people with "ethnic" sounding names applications get rejected regardless of qualification and there's a clear disparity in sentencing and severity of punishment in the criminal justice system that favors whites, this disparity can be described in a word; white privilege. Again white privilege doesn't require every white person to live like a king for it to exist.

Arguing with conservative.(actual conversation) Me: white privilege is actually a thing, the average black family wealth is 1\50 that of a white family Conservative: that's not privilege, they can pull themselves up by their bootstraps. If they don't want to be working minimum wage jobs, they should have sought higher education, rather than dropping out of college. Later Conservative: you are a middle class American who has a college degree, you are very privileged, so don't talk to me about injustices of the rich to the poor when you aren't poor yourself. Me: I feel injustice myself too, as I have to work my ass off to pay off my crippling college debt that was brought about by the outrageous tuition costs. Conservative: well if you don't like being in debt, you shouldn't have gone to college.

Some people have to buy boots to pull up in the first place while the market makes buying boots impossible. Meanwhile people like that fuckboi are given tailor-fitted boots with straps that are at the perfect length are like "lmao just pull up your boostraps it's so easy, look *yank*" Hyperindividualism is the bane of social progress I swear.

14:00 This argument actually has far reaching implications you might not be aware of at first. It's not just about flesh colored bandages. All kinds of products are not made catering to the specific needs of dark skinned people, including blacks. For a long time cameras were not designed to pick up hue nuances of dark skinned people, because companies didn't care. The make up industry for the longest time has neglected the needs of women of color and has not provided them with big enough variety of matching shades for them. POC have a harder time finding a qualified dermatologist or cosmetician to do certain procedures involving lasers, peelings, etc because dark skin has a higher likelihood of ending up with adverse reactions, so fewer people are qualified or willing to offer such treatments. Usually you will need to go to a black dermatologist/cosmetician in those instances. We are less catered to and for us it's harder to find certain products matching the needs of our different skin. It's not as ridiculous as this PragerU token is trying to make it sound like.

White privilege isn't so much as white people getting more as it is about what they(for the most part) don't get. Basically it means if you're black(or anyone of color really), then you are much more likely to have a longer jail sentence, to be seen as more of a threat, to have higher medical costs (I'm not a 100% sure for this one I'll do research), to be harassed or even assaulted by police for no valid reason, to be arrested for a crime you didn't commit without evidence or to not be allowed in some places. So does being white mean this stuff won't happen to me? No, of course not, it's just more likely to happen to a black or haspanic person. Does being white make me racist? No unless you choose to become one. Does being in a society that has white privilege makes me racist then? No unless you use white privilege to justify racism. Do all black or haspanic people go through this? No that's why there are some people who don't fully understand the problems with white privilege because they haven't experienced it, like me. What helped me come to terms with "privilege" as a whole was figuring out what other advantages exist out there. So for instance, white privilege might be White Men receiving less jail time for equivalent crimes than Black Men, and using the same logic, it is female privilege that women receive less jail time than men for equivalent crimes. An example of male privilege is being physically stronger than women on average. An example of black male privilege is everyone assuming you have a big dick (directly contrary to Asian stereotypes which are disadvantageous) How privilege effects you depends on the individual's circumstance, and not all privileges are equal in value, but they are all still "privilege". That said, people who rage tweet about privilege accounts for 90% of the discussions on privilege I see; and despite a more nuanced understanding, it's still just as cringe.

"An example of black male privilege is everyone assuming you have a big dick..." I personally wouldn't classify this as a privilege. Because black men are stereotyped to be more sexually mature, they may be seen as competition to non-black men in terms of dating or sex. Some may use this to support the sexist idea that white women are being "stolen" from the people they "belong to", white men, which can result in even more suspiscion towards black men. Racism and sexism often go hand-in-hand, and it's one good example of why the Central Park 5 had so many doubting their innocence until they were exonerated. Five "big, black men" alleged (at the time) to have raped a small and "pure/damsel" white woman is a racist's wet dream. While you're at it, I'd google Emmett Till as well. Similar concept, except he was murdered from a white woman's fake accusations (she confessed). But otherwise, I 100% agree.

My issue with the white privilege narrative is the "therefore..." that usually fallows someone claiming being white *alone* gives you all sorts of advantages. Often affirmative action is the proposed(and implemented) solution. Now, I can't get behind a legally enforced system that explicitly states "if you are race X, you are excluded from Y". That, my friend, is racism. I think the framing of the conversation around "white privilege" is divisive and unproductive, even if you are pointing in the broad direction of a larger problem. And no, I'm not white, if that was assumed

The fact that these right wingers will claim female privilege or sexism against men in the legal system that exists but white privilege doesn't (even in the same scenarios if compared to a black or brown person) is where I call them disingenuous. Cherry picking what fits their politics. They will say white men are victims (even though they gave privilege/bias in favor for white women to historically help toughen sentences on non-white men who are accused of assault or have legal conflict with them).

if we're using individual experiences as evidence then here I was at the Asian market (also I'm black) and I saw a "now hiring" sign so I asked the cashier if they're hiring and she said "speak to the manger" i went the manger and ask she give me a flat "NO"

6:04 This is absolutely true. I worked in retail and one of the only issues I ever had was that every time slightly rowdy black kids would come in, it was high alert. While I was on, I’d only witnessed theft 2 or 3 times and it was all white folks who never got attention from my coworkers. Now that’s some anecdotal evidence.

I very much doubt someone like Dennis Prager doesn't know white privilege is real. After all, he earns money by denying white privilege to an audience who very much wants to ignore it and/or keep it in place as it is now.

I know this is very anecdotal, but my mom was dating a black guy and he unironically asked if he could leave out the door without the cops being called on him cause he was in a white neighborhood. Just the other day my black friend said that they wanted to walk to the store to get a snack, I asked why they didn't, and they responded, unironically, its dark out, I might get shot. I can't fucking imagine what its like to live in that kind of world.

I worked retail a while back in electronics and a black guy came in around 10:30 at night (we closed at 11). He was wearing some paint splattered overalls and a dirty t shirt. My guess is he just got off work. He comes up to the counter and asks to get help with some tvs. I take him to the section and he starts asking how many of each we have in stock, and then starts saying how many of each he'd like. Guy must have wanted 10 tvs in total, and my manager called lose prevention thinking I was about to get robbed or that a stolen credit card was about to be used. I got all the tv and rang him up, and the guy payed in cash. Management was incredulous. Store wasn't even in a remotely bad neighborhood, just racism things
