Please check out the Peshtigo, Wisconsin fire of 1871, that was on the same day as the great Chicago fire. There was a Protestant Mayor in Chicago that also owned the railroad in Peshtigo. There is an estimate of possibly 2500 people killed in Peshtigo the night that some 300 people were killed in Chicago.
