I must say @Getcurried team, this one was a complete disaster. It was faithfully reproduced step by step at home and turned out almost unpalatable. On tasting it, I asked where this recipe was sourced from,which has led me here. The chef in question seems to be ignorant of some basics - prawns cook in barely a couple of minutes and taste rubbery when overcooked. While on the other hand an ingredient like raw papaya which would take a far longer time to cook is added much later which leads to the prawns being even more overcooked. This is way too obvious. The chef decides to go easy on tomatoes as she says she wants to tone down the acidity. And within a minute she proceeds to add vinegar!! Huh! Isn't that acidic? This really erodes the credibility of a channel such as yours and would request more care and diligence from your end in the selection of recipes as well as chefs.

Completely agree, a raw papaya and vinegar will spoil the curry completely. She is nowhere near Bombay Shef Varun Inamdar....

Too much talking.. 3 minutes out of a 7 min video and the onions aren't sauted yet.. Lady being ostentatious with smartness and language.. Pure cooking please..

Hi there... Looks like a nice recipe and so are you. Prawns cook only in two minutes and you overcooked them, and when you do so...they shrink and get hard, and that is a no no.
@metalinc52537 жыл бұрын
i agree with Rudy..prawns does not taste good if over cooked..i even did not like the idea of raw papaya in prawn curry..instead small cubed potatoes will taste better in prawn curry..first we need to cook potatoes..then last add prawn..

+Get Curried hi.. could you please reply. .I wanna try this. thnkss
@getcurried8 жыл бұрын
+Nivedita Singh You can substitute raw papaya with a vegetable of similar texture. However, it is advisable not to go for something that would overpower the taste like carrots, for example. Lemon is not recommended as it will not give the same level of tang as vinegar

You can use raw mango I believe. We have a bit more simpler version in my side of Kerala. We fry the onions, ginger, curry leaves and tomatoes.. once that's slightly cooked, add some cut raw mango chunks and saute further with a bit of salt. Add red chilli powder and turmeric and pour a little amount of water to it. Then add your fish pieces( I love using King fish/seer fish). Once the fish is cooked add coconut( I normally have a 2 step process of adding coconut milk which is: blend and separate the coconut milk and set aside the thick coconut milk you've extracted. Now blend the pulp or coconut paste further to extract a thinner milk. Add this thin milk to the curry first and once that simmers slightly add the thick milk. Turn off the heat before it boils over). Add a little coconut oil once the curry is ready. To balance the falvours I add a pinch of sugar, which is optional.

This doesn't look like kerala style prawn curry first of all kearala people use koddmpalli( garcinia comboge) and you added prawn in very first step so it will over cooked and will become rubber like feeling it should be soft that is my opinion
