My dad was a fire fighter or smoke eater. I used to spend lots of time down the firehouse. Sadly he passed away 12 years ago. All fire fighters are hero's to me. I'm 50 and can't get enough of watching fire fighting films. Even though i'm a Brit, even i'd say FDNY are the best in the world.

Great video. I found the guys discussing the difficulty of breaching the gate at the end really interesting. All of you young firefighters out there take note...this is the best place to learn the stuff that isn't taught in the academy. It is the seemingly insignificant stuff that will let you make it to retirement!

Title states firefighters run into school. I did not see any firefighter run at any time. Probably could have just the rabbit tool on the gate lock. Capt Morris (retired R1) could have opened the front doors in seconds.

If we need to go into the details for the running part 10:40. Yeah they had trouble with the cast iron gate. They went back and looked at what they coulda done better.

I couldn't see it in the video but I'd guess there was a metal plate welded on that side of the latch to prevent it being pried open. That had to be cut off with the K12 before they could work on the latch, with irons.

@adamlewandoski71445 жыл бұрын
Most of the time no, as it is to impede possible jumpers or kids falling out of windows. Same reason why windows in most hotels and especially hospitals dont open. If they do it will only be a couple inches.

Mike Doggers with your mentality why wear ppe at all? Leave your helmet, turnouts, scba in the truck. Why waste time right? Hearing protection exists for a reason just like all the other equipment.

EricTXAviation Why wear your PPE?.....because your gonna die of you go into an IDLH without anything. Your not gonna die from using a saw for a few minutes.

What's wrong with raising the age limit? Raising the age limit from 29 to 36 is not old. There's people out there that are 30+ older and are more physically fit than than the guys in their mid 20s.
