So this is what happened to my kneecap. My doctor said it was just bursitis. After three impacts during cycling events my knee becomes quite painful. Walking up stairs is uncomfortable at times.

Can anyone tell me in the still Pic being shown of the surgery how much of the fascia will be removed from this knee? It looks like the dime size hole being removed would be the starting point where a healthy pre patella bursa is located, It seems it should be more like the size of maybe a half dollar? Can anyone tell me if the yellow areas seen on this anterior fascia being exposed is healthy tissue or has the bursa kind of exploded outward to the yellow areas shown? I guess only a surgeon who has performed this a few times would know what he is looking for as far as the video says " Heathy Margins" Or maybe a person who looks at a cadaver with a perfect knee would have this awareness. I have watched a few videos of this surgery being performed where the incision is half this size of this one and the surgeon is pulling out the unhealthy fascia / bursa from the incision and cutting it free. I like what I see from this Dr Bellemans surgery video much more, even with a larger incision because your able to see what bursa and tissue has become hardened, dehydrated and damaged due to the factors described in video. My symptoms are very very similar with last stage chronicity, with less swelling than most, painful at times and very red when I do to much ongoing now for 3 years. Dr Bellemans surgical technique and repair in my mind is a much better repair since no unhealthy tissue would remain since it can be seen better. I have been looking for a Ortho surgeon to perform this surgery but cannot find one in the state of Oregon who has ever done a traditional surgery like this or of any style. I have called at least 11 or 12 so far with nobody who has performed a knee bursectomy before, and only 1 who said he would give it a go. I would LOVE to have DR Belleman do this but getting to Denmark on bad wheels poses a problem along with the logistics and cost. If any Orthopedic Doctors out there read this comment and can perform this surgery as seen in video, or have experience above the basic orthopedic doctors knowledge of knee bursa/ fascia like Professor Bellemans, and understanding of knee bursectomy surgery, please call me at 209-534-6147. I have insurance.

What do you mean by "local infiltration" as a treatment? Do you mean cortisone shots?
