I'm just gonna make a bulleted list. First and foremost change that deserves to be brought to attention on it's own, though, is that *Renew is REALLY mana inefficient, AND the HoT doesn't proc your mastery, which is like 20% of your healing.* You spam renew too much. Now, onto the list: (I am not the best holy priest, so anyone better than me please correct me) Flash Heal - Now your bread-and-butter healing spell. Holy Word: Serenity is SUPER powerful, and flash heal resets its cooldown and also does your best HpS relative to mana (spamming Prayer of Healing technically does more HpS, but it drains your mana the fastest of any spell you have) Benediction (lvl100 talent) - it's generally best in raids, apotheosis is typically preferred for 5mans, but benediction won't be bad because of quaking in this case and it's phenomenal on bursting sometimes. Prayer of Healing(PoH) - useless in 5man dungeons unless you have recently cast Holy Word: Sanctify recently, or to reset the cooldown on Sanctify if you *really* need it. If you run Divinity (Which you should be, it's by far the best lvl90 talent in 5mans) you can get a very powerful AoE burst that rivals Divine Hymn by doing: Holy Word: Sanctify -> PoHx2 -> Holy Word: Serenity -> PoHx3 -> Holy Word: Sanctify -> PoHx2 However, it uses like 300k mana or something stupid, so you can only get away with it in 5mans where you can drink every time a pack dies. Mass Dispel - uses 150k mana or something. Enough said. Don't use it unless you ABSOLUTELY have to. (I use it too much myself, many a time have I been unprepared for a boss in a dungeon due to not enough time to drink.) Holy Word: Serenity: Use whenever anyone has taken 2mil+ damage. (If it's the tank, wait until they have taken more damage than a crit Serenity would do. Remember, one of your artifact traits increases the crit chance!) If it is off cooldown, don't flash heal someone to full who has taken enough damage to use Serenity, you'll just get another one in 20 seconds of flash heal spam anyways. Heal - Only use if you massively overgear the place and don't feel like drinking in between pulls (5mans only, of course) 30:55 - Rogues. Have. Cloak. If a rogue dies to mechanics, it's not your fault. You should have just kept playing, even if there hadn't been a *GIANT FUCKING QUAKING NUKE WAITING FOR YOUR WHOLE GROUP!* If you had wiped there, it was definitely your fault, although you guys shouldn't have been stacked close enough for quaking anyways. Leap of Faith - Despite that disaster, you should really use this more. It is super useful for, say, bringing that DPS that you finally find across the map and out of range to somewhere you can heal them. Guardian Spirit - Use it more, and remember it applies one to you as well as your target because of the artifact trait. Well, this took too much time. Hope it's useful for someone, and maybe that it will influence your play coming up to the long-awaited (at least by me) priest guides!

Hpriest main here, couple things to piggy pack on this. Make sure you are using Holy Word: Sanctify as often as possible. Basically Heal/Flash Heal reduce the cool down on Serenity, and PoH reduces the cool down on Sanctify. this can be used to pump out massive amounts of holy words when it hits the fan.

No kidding, Renew is HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT garbage. Pretty much the only time I ever renew is if there's no damage going out. Also, Halo is not exactly the best since your mini halo (HW: Sanctify) is up so often in AoE situations. Essentially it all comes down to using PoH, Heal and FH to keep Serenity and Sanctify off CD, and keep Prayer of Mending off CD. I mean that's literally it. Mastery does so much of the healing it's almost fire and forget.

I agree with you, but I think hard casting renew is okay in dungeons if you have free time before a pull and want to get all the juice out that you can, mana efficiency isn't a big concern unless you are chain pulling (which means you likely overgear the dung ur in) and I don't mean to keep refreshing it, it's just an extra heal along with extra PoM's before the pull (also good for mobility if mana is not an issue. Also I think you should have mentioned binding heal, it's good for quite a few bosses in tomb and I sometimes take it for m+. Oh and I like to spam heal on a tank sometimes if I think they damage should be smoothed out, or you could just dps the boss, but that's preference I guess. Mass dispell is costly but dungeons and mana isn't really bad, its really nice to mass dispell group wide slows, especially from those blobs in EoA.

TheGreenNinja actually heal is powerful it's weaker because cast time difference from flash heal but it heals. Ore ams takes less mana good for conserving mana for certain phases and also works on serpedinity

Also, if u check at the start he ate mastery food, now I dont know about his gear but if I have to guess I'd say it's mastery focused which is great in raids but actually mastery is not that good in 5 mans, if u have the luxury to swap around some items with a more crit/haste heavy build you can have a much easier time.

casting heal is pretty fine in m+, mostly on tyrannical bosses where mana can matter since it's a basically no mana cost way to quickly regenerate your holy word

That story about giving his priest away is funny because I did something super similar (but for different reasons) with the same class in the same expansion. I was pretty much done with TBC early on and had well, spent money having a Paladin leveled from 1-60 because leveling a new char was still ass back then. I got it to 70 and was doing raid healing and just did not dig the raiding scene we had. So I asked a dude I knew well in the guild if he wanted to buy my Paladin and he did. I bought a new copy put it in my name and transferred the char and sold the account to him. Later he decided he wanted to play my priest too, so I sent that over as well.

Gotta say, I've given up wow, so recently that I still have a couple weeks left before my sub officially expires. A lot of little things have piled up over the years and wow has turned into a bigger pile of not fun than it ever really was fun. But I still like your vids. :D When I decided to give up wow, I canceled my sub and used this time I have left before it expires to go whole hog on farming/crafting to make a crap ton of gold. I bought a bunch of tokens with it, converted them to blizz balance, and used that to buy overwatch and some other stuff lol. I'm having SO MUCH fun on that game! It's amazing. I don't play competitive or anything like that, not yet anyway, but it's so much fun. I'm not sure what sort of content would be good for making in relation to the game, but it's something I'm interested in. But I see the stuff you do and the idea of growing a channel like yours seems so intimidating. The game as a whole is still pretty cool. It's just that I've been playing since late vanilla. That's a long time for little annoyances to build up. I'll be back eventually I know. Oh man, when I quit playing in cata I decided that I didn't want any way of saying "well, I could always play wow again" so I vendored everything I had on all of my toons, including my Rhok'delar and the Ancient Wrapped Sinew Wrapped Lamina on my hunter. I had actually completely forgotten about them until Legion and the new transmog system, then I suddenly realized that having that quiver would be so sweet with my hunter's transmog rhok'delar for something legitimately unique. I opened a ticket and even though it was a quest reward, they couldn't restore the item for me. Maybe I'll try again and see if I can get another GM that will do it.

Holy Priest Cheat Sheet - Never hard cast renew in a raid unless you're moving. That's why benediction exists :D M+ Talents: The entire left column and Censure for stun utility. You never really change based on affixes - although Binding Heal is not bad for Bursting. Main spells: Flash of Light, Serenity, Sanctify. Prayer of Healing is garbage outside of like, topping up Bursting or saving multiple people from death at once (which is actually rare once you learn the damage outputs of M+). Enlightenment is bad in M+ because you can drink between pulls :) Apotheosis is really good on dodgy trash packs OR dealing burst healer damage! Raid Talents (Starter): Enlightenment, Afterlife, Light of the Naaru, Piety (or Binding Heal if you are really geared), Divinity and Benediction. Main Spells: Prayer of Mending on CD, use spells according to situation. Toolbox hype! Int > Crit/Mastery > Vers > Haste as a general rule of thumb. Crit and Mastery are always changing depending on your gear or stats. Int is so valuable, howver, that typically, ilvl is king unless you are maintaining 4 Set T20 (Which is worth about 7k int) or comparing 5 ilvl difference between optimal stats and not optimal stats. I'll just say as a casual player the strats are really different from what a more normal character would face. If you only play heroic dungeons or mythic zeroes then you wouldn't kill adds on the serpent fights you would just zerg the green head and move on. So when players graduate to tougher difficulties they don't realize the strats change. I guess that is why some people like wow progress.

The only time you should really be casting renew is when you're moving, unable to stop, and the target needs a heal or they'll die. It should still do a ton of healing for you if you have benediction however :)

I play a Holy Paladin, they have an amazing tool kit for M+ and also do pretty well raid healing, every raid should have at least one. It's extremely easy to play but hard to master so there's a lot of skill to gain while still starting off at a decent place. That being said I know it wasn't on the list so sorry for my recommendation :)

As far as if you're doing it wrong, it's hard to tell if you're doing it or not because Benediction, but don't hard cast Renew. Unless you're on the move and you're not concerned about Mana. Just spamming Heal or Flash Heal is more efficient. Enjoyed the story :)
