In this video I go over a drill on how to improve your hand speed and fluidity in your combinations. The key to the drill is to work dexterity in each shoulder by punching repeatedly at different angles on the same side. I really appreciate these videos! Man, I thought I was a good boxer until I stepped into a sparring match with someone that actually knew what they were doing. I got so discouraged when I realized I wasn't nearly as good as I thought I was. Your videos are a light in a dark tunnel, man! I love this sport, and want nothing more than to get better at this sport, so I can feel confident in competition, one day! God Bless

Huge difference in combinations from just 2 days of shadow boxing like this for 2 rounds. It's now apart of my training for my upcoming Muay Thai fight. Thank you.
@George-tp7zz4 жыл бұрын
This explains a lot. I watch a lot of current pro boxers (Canelo, Loma, Crawford, Spence Jr, Lopez, Tank, etc etc etc) and they all seem to be doing this real relaxed, ‘shoulder pop’ short movement when shadowing, not even breaking a sweat - usually during a media workout, or what looks to be a warm up/cool down. Then I see some of the same boxers fully extending, putting full power and movement as if they’re actually in the ring. I think it’s quite rare to see a pro show their full shadowing potential at a public workout etc so we’re used to seeing more relaxed warm up style shadow boxing and to me as a beginner I’m replicating more short relaxed movements as that’s all I saw.

...good. I don't like pulled punches though, even in drills. I practice following them through. And I try never to punch air if I can help it. Anyone can find an old mattress and put it against the wall. Learn to deal with the impact. Wear socks and train on the slipperiest floor possible. Learn to control your momentum.

i'm a multi-talented guy. i learn everything relatively quick and easy but boxing.. my be the biggest challenge i've faced in my 23 years lol. i grew up wrestling so this is entirely different but i like it. ik it wont be easy but boxing possibly can be the greatest thing you can get into. forces u to get into shape (if you're serious), learn how to defend yourself and you walk around with a new solid layer of confidence. anyone who is also new and getting discouraged please remember GOOD things DON'T come EASY

I came up with a same-hand drill based on a marching band drumline warm up... It's called "8 on a hand", and on drums it'd be 8 right hand, 8 left hand, 7 right, 7 left....on down to a single right-left. And keeping a steady rhythm of course. In boxing, I do it in reverse order... one right, one left, two rights, two lefts........eight rights, eight lefts..... You really feel it working at 5-6 punches in a row! I prefer practicing this with a neutral stance, throwing jabs, straights, or even a sort of kung fu punch. Any other punch in a row, I find, will cause the bag to swing around too much.
