Predator 670 Carb Tuning - Yamaha G29

This video goes over how I was able to tune the stock Predator 670 carburetor to get this engine running great. We did try installing the low profile carb kit from Performance670 and I was not happy with it at all. So don't waste your time and money like I did, and just try adjusting your stock carb first. I also talk about how we adjusted the governor to get the exact RPM we were looking for.

Glad found this video buddy Just to clarify you did not change the jets? I’m in iowa and believe mine has a 105 and 108 jet . I did take Welch plugs out but was to scared to Mrs with the screws . Basically seat em both and 3.5 turns out on both?? I was going to get mikunj carb but too expensive lol

No, we did not change the jets. Just adjusted the fuel screws out one more turn from stock, so they were a total of 3.5 turns out on each side.

That governor bracket with the multiple slots is that from performance 670??? Then used the zip tie in conjunction with that?????

No, that is the stock governor bracket and spring. We just put a zip tie on the spring.

Each time you adjust the screw are you mainly doing 1 or both screws same turns

You have to adjust both screws exactly the same.

care to share exactly how many turns out on each jet TOTAL you did on this cart... Someone else messed with it before I got to it so I dont know factory settings and cannot just go one turn out on each...

Sorry, but I don't know how many turns out total it was. I would guess that it was around 2.5 to 3 turns out total.

Is that 1 full turn from the stock setting so from closed about 3.5 turns? I noticed you had 2.5 on there. or does it need to be 2.5?

2.5 was stock setting. I went one more turn out to 3.5

I have a predator 670 that I installed in a PUG 4x6 utility. It is super hard to get started. Ran great for a few months then became harder and harder to get started. If I take air cleaner off and spray starting fluid it will start then die. Will not stay running!. have verified that I am getting fuel to carburetor and good fire but again it will not keep running. Can you offer some help here?

Sounds like you might have a fuel issue, possibly water in the fuel. I would try draining the float bowl or doing a complete carb clean.

After owning this cart for over a year now, I really can't recommend doing a predator swap. Just too many headaches and a lot of expense. Can your 357 engine be rebuilt? What was wrong with it?

Quick question do I turn those screws all the way in and then do what you say

Yes, you can turn the screws all the way in until they seat lightly. Then back them out 3.5 turns to start with and see how it runs.

Have you done an install of the 23hp briggs and stratton in a G29 yet with the Vegas Carts kit?

No we do not do anything with Briggs engines here as we have had nothing but problems with them. We are also not planning on doing any more v twin engine swaps as it seems to kill the resale value of the cart. We have been unable to get this green cart sold and are seriously looking at reinstalling the stock engine just to hopefully get it sold and recover our cost. The Vegas carts kit worked great, but it takes a ton of money to do a build like this and we just don't have the market here for it.
