One question. I’m building a Hard tail mini bike for the kids. I did install the 79cc HF engine. For riders under 100 pounds will it be sufficient ? They’ll be riding around the yard mainly flat ground on grass. I was going to do this removal but only if it’ll gain me some pull off the start . Not interested in top end for them .
@VasilyBuilds5 жыл бұрын
Y-Z-2-Fitty the 79cc motor has very weak torque. Ungoverned, I it pulls hard up top. Honestly it should suffice and be plenty of fun. Once they grow out of it you can always remove the governor and add an exhaust.

Once you remove the linkage from the governor control arm to the carb, haven't you essentially rendered the governor useless? Why bother to take it out of the engine at all? What does it hurt to let it remain and function as it normally does to move the governor arm, since the governor no longer controls the engine speed? Great video, and helpful for getting the governor parts all removed.

That video was a big help in removing the governor how ever I noticed that you mentioned that there was no oil sensor but mine has one. Everything went back together fine but know I have no fire to the plug. any suggestions on this problem anyone?
@austindavis53774 жыл бұрын
Make sure you have enough oil in the case since you have a low oil sensor.
@TheDustyShredder4 жыл бұрын
If you removed the sensor, you have to connect the kill switch to the plugs that the sensor was connected to. The oil sensor is just a N/C switch, so when oil is in there, the circuit to ground opens up and lets the spark fire. The way the stop switch works is by shorting out the ignition on the case, before the discharge reaches the spark plug. Mine has that sensor, and I just took my kill switch and put it's barrels into the oil sensor's former barrels.

That gasket sealer will squish out of the joint....into the crankcase. You will have large enough pieces of sealer flying around in the crankcase, where they will jam up in the compression release so it cant function. I have seen this happen on more than one predator. Sorry for the bad news.

Don't get it from harbor freight because there's no throttle linkage for a motorized bicycle set up,. Vasily Custom Builds SUCCESS ! It is actually a closed C-clip and not an O-ring. I could not break the C-clip with a flat screwdriver so I borrowed a chisel from a friend and I broke the C-clip. Yes, I removed the washer under the governor wheel as well. Hope that helps someone. Now to clean the debris, I thought of using a hose to flush it with water and let the engine dry in the sun, but Im worried there is a yellow wire and magneto-something inside the crankcase. Any tips?
@VasilyBuilds6 жыл бұрын
NO magneto inside!!! BUt you can flush it with gasoline, kersosene, diesel or oil. Don't use water it will corrode the aluminium

The yellow wire I was talking about is connected to the oil sensor inside the crank case. So YES, the newer 79cc Predator engines do come with an oil sensor. Now I have to figure out how to remove/disable the oil sensor. The yellow wire goes from the oil sensor to the kill switch. Can I just cut the yellow wire? . Or can I bypass the kill switch on the engine and use an external switch?

@richardfote40834 жыл бұрын
two things first i like how the motor is built , second you dont understand the true purpose of the govener its to protect the motor from over reving on rpms and keep it from over heating . i just hope it doesnt cause engine damage .
@wayne33404 жыл бұрын
Richard, protection of the engine is a nice side effect. The purpose of governors is to keep the rpm in the optimum range. When the work load causes the rpm to drop the governor pulls on the carb linkage to give it more gas and vise versa. Removing it, or disconnecting it allows you to control the engine speed freely, like s normal engine.

@@Mason-to9fv Well i commented this a year ago with very little knowledge on building these engines. I more than likely lashed the valves wrong cause i Didnt use a lash tool then 😂 i was a dummy. Ok i did mine today, now be honest did you edit out 5 minutes of you trying to remove that ring????? What a pain that was for me i finally resorted to a kitchen knife... lol Mine has a oil sensor i am just not going to hook it up and just leave it in there. I will fold the wire 3 times and put a heat shrink wire sleeve on it. I am doing a video on it because i have the gasbike motor only difference from predator is the name and the throttle body as the gas bike branded engines these places sell has the cable stays in place for throttle cable and a spring to return to idle already in place. So i am doing a mod video on how to hook up linkage once gov arm is removed as it is different then your predator. I also tell people to come here to find out how to remove the governor. I should be done with video in a day or two..

Std valve springs are a built in rev limiter...if you know enough about engines you can swap them out yourself & what pressure would you run clever clogged ? Trev New Zealand 🇳🇿

All this destruction, wasted time, poor education and simple nonsense adds you 0.00HP. You get more revs but the torque peak on this monster 79cc engine is nil at higher revs. THIS is what someone is teaching YOUR kids.
