Great pod cast. Since discovering your channel, I have been playing it practically 24/7. Loved hearing that your AR builds mirror my own (target shooting only) so far. Every gun I have built has been from scratch. Even a few guns into it, and picking everything I wanted, each build ends up being an on going evolution until it shoots in a manor I am happy with. And yes, suppression rules.

Dig this info. 2nd AR build in 6ARC as a handloader I want all the tunings possible. The SA adj. gas block is great. Another thing I had to work out on this rifle was the buffer weight and spring. If you run a rifle stock it gives you more buffer spring length (recoil runway) to play with and can smooth out things so that you can spot your own shots wile staying in the scope. I didn't realize how big of a thing that was going to be but it matters. I can stay in scope and spot shots at 1k with 16x. If you zoom out that helps but you have to have great glass and most of the scopes are optimized for higher mag, so... but when you zoom out everything is tinier and larger bullets help but its all trade offs. I am running 105 bergers (mostly) but there is also the option of copper solids that give you better BCs for weight and you can shoot them faster. I'm using these for target shooting though. Great Informative long form videos..

One thing I'll add in is that low end and high end, both have their issues. Low end can lead to bad upper and lower issues, malfunctions, accuracy, and reliability. High end, can lead to proprietary parts, which can be a pain in the rear, if you decide to change something out (Daniel Defense and Larue). You guys definitely brought up some excellent products, awesome podcast, keep up the great work.

For a quick replacement detent pin, take a drill bit that measures same as the detent, cut off with Dremel cutoff wheel or angle grinder cutoff wheel same approx length , then chuck in cordless drill, run drill slowly while sanding/grinding a 45degree chamfer with Dremel sanding drum or stone....there ya go, hardened detent pin in about 5 minutes. You can also drill and tap the ends of some of your detent spring holes about 3/16 deep, add short 6-32 sets crew, to capture your detent spring, no more holding with thumb and shooting your eyeball out when your thumb slips.....you can convert the bolt release pin to accept newer enhanced style screw and pin combo and eliminate need to drive pin in, you just screw in now instead of driving this PIA pin in...chucking a long setscrew in drill, and grinding with angle grinder, making you own as opposed to buying is possible too. Great show guys, would like to hear your take on a 20 Practical in an AR, I love mine, an almost 204 ruger that cycles thru an AR, and just smash your own cheap 223 brass using a redding bushing die with correct sized 20 cal bushing in the 223 die......3700 fps with 20 cal 40 grain max, easy as pie and super easy nickle/dime brass as long as your not too much of a brass snob

I do own a couple top tier Ar's, and have built one for hunting, but had to try a Savage Msr recon that I found on sale about 4 years ago... Wow....I do not think you can beat it for accuracy in any price range. 1:8 twist, 16" melonite treated barrel, mid length gas, Wylde chamber, 5R, bolt matched to the chamber and serialized. Groups are tight on everything i've ran through it so far... There are older youtube reviews, (mrgunsngear) showing the same... The factory trigger is decent but swapped it out for a geissele ssa-e, and replaced the buttstock, that's it... I do like my nicer rifles but also recognize the msr for what it's capable of doing, shooting lights out and making others wonder why they spent 2k or more on something else. LWRC ic-di is another one I would highly recommend for 556, they are built on a different level than other brands in it's price range of under 2k.. I have hunted coyotes since the tape recorder days, and will have to say this has gotten to be wayyyy over complicated to many, use the wind to your favor, don't over call an area, get permission on plenty of land if you don't own enough yourself, and if you are making most of your shots at 3-400 yrds you're f'ing up. A lot of times one of us is on a shotgun. great video!

Adjustable gas blocks to me are just another failure point when there is a perfectly good 1 piece option that works and is durable. The buffer system is easy, start with a carbine buffer and go heavier from there. The A5 system is the same concept, start light and slowly get heavier. My test is I get the lowest pressure weakest ammo possible and make sure it runs that stuff as fast as I can shoot it while still cycling at 4oclock. If it does that then the buffer isn’t too heavy.

My rig i'm running a mark twelve. This is Maine I'm talking about. I run my thermal scope mounted to the top of my night vision scope. My reason is for identification and clarity. Just because something's glowing at four hundred yards. That does not mean it's okay to shoot. Where night vision is way more crisp and clear. And you can say yes that is a coyote or a bobcat. It's not a little fawn..

I bought a ar15 6arc for 700 with plans to upgrade. As it turned out I had to start upgrading immediately. I bought the rifle from pro2a tactical in Alpharetta Ga it come with a 18in tactical kinetics mid length barrel on it ,everything else is mil-spec. I haven't bought a scope at the time because I wanted to make sure I liked the ar15 platform first. So I threw a nikon prostaff 3-9 x50 bdc on it and started trying to bore sight it and at 30yrds I couldn't get it to group better than 3to4 in. We changed scopes 3 times and nothing. I called them..........and they said send it in and they would stick another barrel on. So I did, they did, and they sent it back. Same damn thing! Now I am getting a little upset. I noticed on there website that they offered several different barrel brands and one was ballistics advantage, so I told them I wanted a ba barrel and they said they couldn't do it. So I contacted my local gunsmith accuracy outdoors Valdosta GA and had them get me one and they did. Meanwhile I bought cmc 2.5lb flat trigger, magpul moe sl,and moe k2+ grip for the lower. They called me and said it was ready, I went to pick it up and he showed me the target that he checked it on and he shot 3 3shot groups that was 1/4 in at 109yards. And its been doing it ever since. I now have 2000 bucks in it,is there a lesson here? I think so! I use the 108gr eld-m on coyotes and it drops them like turning off a switch. Love the 6arc.

Depends on what you use the 308 for. 308 is a superior cartridge for big game under 500-600 yards than a 6.5cm. Long range punching paper…. I’ll take a 6.5 prc, 6.5 cm, 6 arc etc. not a question.

I have A 223-556 Mark 12 That is super sweet shooting out to 500 yd grouping up the size of a canal lope . But also have a ruger precision 338 LAPUA That is super beautiful to shoot as well and the recoil is not that bad at all. If I had 500 g to shoot at the range I would probably shoot at least 250 Of it if it wasn't so d*** expensive . But I feel like I can do better with my mark 12 then I can with my 308 savage Tactical FP. And technically they're all considered a type of sniper rifle or precision. I say shoot what makes you feel good Push your own limit get familiar with something that will make you a better shooter

Suppressors, if they are retarding gas at all, increase recoil, that’s part of physics, like suppressor ‘boost’. The specifics of caliber weight will tell you if it’s meaningful. I would state the benefits far out way the negligible increase in recoil. But you can’t ignore the laws of physics. If you doubt it, shoot something big like a 50 with and without a suppressor. You’ll notice the difference.
@djslayer24

I didn’t realize There was difference till then 😂 without the suppressor the Barrett m107a1 is surprisingly tame with the suppressor it’s got a pretty good kick
@tylerrauker689
@tylerrauker689 2 жыл бұрын
Logical fallacies abound. There is zero increase to recoil. That gas was going out the end of the barrel the same direction regardless. The trapped gasses in fact increase the time of the recoil, reducing the perceived recoil. What you are comparing a suppressor to is to a muzzle break with baffles that redirect those gasses rearward, which a suppressor cannot match. So, you are correct that the suppressed Barrett had more recoil than the muzzle breaked option, but would still provide a reduction compared to a bare muzzle.
@SLFYSH

Y’all boys got tuning fucked up. Start at the source… the gas block and try to make it run with carbine springs and buffers. Then take it from there if you have to. With bigger calibers it might be a different story. However I have I have tried several of the quality gas blocks and the SLR Sentry is head and shoulders above them all. There’s a stark different between being able to “handle recoil” and being able to effectively “manage recoil”. This is more true when it comes to shooting from various positions where your overall stability is compromised, as it often is in hunting scenarios. Managing recoil is much more about proper shooting fundamentals than it is just raw strength.
