The Pred using it's own mandibles to access functions in the mask is not that creepy. Check early (1980's & 1990's) Handbook of the Marvel Universe entries on Iron Man, specifically his helmet/mask. There are notes about saliva-sensitive pads where the wearer can activate functions without speaking, by touching said pad(s) with their tongue. It would save time (Nobody likes to have to stop everything in the middle of a hunt to change a couple functions). Their facial design is reminiscent of Terran crabs, who have similar mandibles. They are used to pull food closer & into their mouths. Some Predator lore (I think from the novels) say that they use a combination of growls & clicking the mandibles comprise their spoken language. The woodpecker-like clicking heard in the first Predator movie comes from the base of the throat, much like a Terran cat's purring. The luminescence of the Yautja's blood may come from an evolutionary tactic, dissuading larger creatures from attacking; it may be poisonous or just nasty-tasting to such creatures. Since the Yautja see naturally in the infrared, their origin planet may be continually night or eclipsed. Likewise, their greater strength may come from a slightly heavier gravity (equal to 1.2 or 1.5 times Earth) which explains their great leaping ability. As for their climbing sheer walls (Predator 2), their fingernail-like talons enable them to grip & scale, like a Terran reptile. For the most part, the Yautja favor humid, jungle like environs (Predator, Predators, most of the Dark Horse comics). This may be a nod to their origin world. With humans ('soft-meat') developing cities, a wise Hunter goes where the prey is (Predator 2, Predator: Concrete Jungle comic). Some aspects of the Star Trek: Voyager species Hirogen (Hunting, Trophy collecting, code of honor, skill training, sometimes pack-hunting) are hinted at as 'inspired' by the Predator. One of the novels, calling the Yautja the "Hish" spoke of the Preds being able to switch genders like frogs, using a specialized hormone. While there were no outward physical changes, the Preds may be able to tell the gender difference by scent. Also, one possibility is that the Mammalian breasts noted on some female Preds may be a cosmetic genetic manipulation.

I always assumed the mandibles are like our cheeks and lips, mainly used for expressing to other members of the species, since they do use them to express emotions quite clearly, but I also think the clicking and howling can be amplified by them, and they would likely help when feeding to funnel food towards the teeth, also like how our lips work. Also as for females, I’m pretty sure the females are dominant and don’t bother with hunting. Could be outdated, old or just made up lore but I read a little while ago that the females are the dominant class, and deal with governing their species, scientific endeavours, upholding traditions (spiritual figures) and teach younger yautja how to behave. The predators hunting culture is for the less dominant males to prove themselves worthy to mate with females and enter into the upper society and partake in more important jobs and things.

Could you imagine the predators in star wars? I'm really interested how they would interact with the mandalorians. They have similiar cultures in a lot of ways just like trandoshans. I think it would be really interesting. Especially the taung which are the ancient mandalorians who more resemble the yautja themselves. I would pay good money to see the predators interact with star wars cultures and species. I think even seeing trandoshans and mandalorians joining predator clans or the other way around isn't to far fetched.

Engineer's are 10 feet tall. Yautja can't live in the cold for more then 3 hours or they begin to slowly die. That's why scare, chopper and his brother wore more and thicker armour in avp then in the other movies. The netting they wear is actually a thermal net that's like wear a heater in cooler area's. The fleshy dreads are actually for aiding balance as well.

Speaking of the egg on the Solaco, I know it maybe a reach but...What if there is another xenomorph type that comes from the queen and either carries an emergency egg off to a safer location or egg morphs it self another thought is that it was a normal facehugger that molted into a queen facehugger and the cocoon is basically a overmorph egg IDK.

So far as We Know, according to the Yautja's beauty standards Big Mama could be hot. I like to think that they could probably eat just about anything. I also think it would be kind of cool if their Tusk like mandibles could actually be a vestigial traits left over from a venomous prehistoric ancestor. It would have also been cool to see a primordial subspecies that still possessed a venomous bite.

Few items: the Predators probably have a large adrenal gland which fills them with anger and strength. The Predators evolved on a harsh world where they were not the top of the food chain. The primitive Predators evolved on a world blasted by radiation, which made their DNA robust against cancers, this explains their longevity as their DNA does not make mistakes. The primitive Predators had to deal with fierce creatures on their home world. To survive, the Predators had to be fierce. They may have stolen their technology from another race, which would explain the mix of high tech and warrior ethos. Having evolved on a harsh world and being strong and harsh, they ran the risk of overpopulation since they can survive so many wounds. The Predators had a choice: stay on their planet and succumb to over population ( since they live for a long time and heal from injuries) and wars fought against each other, or channel their aggression against other races and expand through space. The Achilles heel of Predators comes from their fierceness- any large group of Predators will cause fights to break out amongst them, Predators need a lot of personal space. Thus, there are no Predator cities or Predator governments. This is their difference from humans who are very social. Or: the Predators were genetically engineered by another race to be super-soldiers, and they rebelled against their masters. The dreadlocks serve an important function, that is why the Predalien copied them. The dreadlocks may supply information about balance and body movement, making the Predator very agile and nimble and good in a fight. The dreadlocks may be chemosensors which serve as the Predator’s sense of smell, or the dreadlocks may contain cilia which allow the Predator to hear. Thus, the dreads may be a nose or an ear. . The dreadlocks are not just hair, as the Predalien copied them.

What if the missing nose is actually replaced by an organ hidden in the throat? Like a snake, who puts it´s tongue out, than pulls back to the mouth so that organ can analyze the " taste " of the air, allowing the snake to know what it is hunting, Yautja can be the same thing, since their vision is not that good, their hearing and smelling must be the most evolved senses. That would help them on their first stages of evolution , when they didn´t have all the armor and technology.

My view point with female Yautja is they do have mammary glands but are not very prominent when not in season, they will only become prominent when in season and nursing. Think of a female body builder. I believe this because males supposedly have exterior gonads and most male species with exterior gonads have females with mammary glands. Then being "bigger" doesn't necessarily mean taller but more girth, which would make sense for a female having more girth as they require wider hips for birthing. As for viewing mammary glands. Yautja just flat out can't physically see them as they perceive with heat vision and not on a color spectrum like a human. If anything, Yautja can see mammary glands probably only when the female is in season or nursing due to heat fluctuations. Other than that, there's nothing there for them to see.

Lol, the whole sexual dimorphism part may not apply to non-earthly species. In fact, in Space, one may not even need traditional methods of reproduction to propogate their species. For all we know, the Predators may have a way of reproducing where they simply pass on their genetic material in a different way, maybe like how some plants do by emitting spores, pollens and so on.
@lukassnakeman4 жыл бұрын
what really doesnt make sense about the predator is the combination of highly advanced technology and a culture that seems to revolve entirely around big game hunting. to make spaceships and plasma guns they mustve gone through some technological revolution and industrial revolution on their planet. so what about all the predators that make the stuff, who mine and refine the resources, who do the computer programming, who do the design and creating?? do they also go on hunts??
