Predestination Debunked | Misunderstood Quranic Verses part 2 | Dr. Shabir Ally

In our first installment of Misunderstood Quranic Verses, Dr. Shabir Ally delves into the interpretation of verses from Chapter 2 of the Quran, focusing on common misconceptions about predestination. He begins by discussing verses 6-7, which describe disbelievers and hypocrites. Classical interpretations suggest that these verses indicate God predestines individuals to be nonbelievers or hypocrites. However, Dr. Shabir argues that these verses should be understood metaphorically, emphasizing human free will and responsibility. The sealing of hearts or veiling of vision is a consequence of individuals' persistent sinful actions and disbelief, rather than a predetermined fate imposed by God. Dr. Shabir continues by examining verse 10, which addresses hypocrites with a disease in their hearts that God increases. He explains that this disease metaphorically represents the self-inflicted consequences of hypocritical behavior, growing due to their own actions. God’s mention is a reminder of divine control, but it highlights human responsibility for their choices. Finally, Dr. Shabir discusses verse 21, which calls for worship and speaks of God creating humans with the hope they will attain righteousness. Classical views, like those of Al-Qurtubi, suggest that God predestines some individuals to hell and others to paradise. Dr. Shabir challenges this by emphasizing that the Quran consistently teaches human free will. He argues that God’s hope is for all to choose the righteous path, and the verse should be interpreted within this framework rather than a predestinarian one. He concludes that many Quranic verses have been misinterpreted within a predestination framework, and a correct understanding aligns with the Quran’s overall message of free will, justice, and human accountability.

Islam tells us about such people in The Holy Quran, well actually it's Gods speech, so God tells us that some read and still ''fight'' against it because of the problems in their heart. Did you read the entire Quran to come up to this conclusion, or are you speaking out of your presumptions? I challange everyone to read the Quran in entirety from start to finish in an attempt to understand it. And stop yourself from becoming a muslim if you can. Allah gives EVERYONE chances at each 'intersection' in their lives to chose between what is from their bad ego and good conciousness which leads to a 'fork in the road'. Even the 'worst of the worst' (whatever you can imagine) are given a chance within context of their situation to do what is good, but those who chose the bad from their ego end up in another road which leads to further trials with trials as 'forks in the road'. No matter how bad a person, if they chose the good conciousness and decide accordingly and chose the best they encounter in the 'forks in the road' presented to them Allah will make it easy for them. The more 'good' we do the the better the 'forks in the road'' become, Allah/God is always Gracious, but are we doing the right thing? Because it is us who are on trial not Allah/God. Those who don't know God, assume God is there to serve them with them not been responsible with their trial, which is the reason why we were created in the beginning. Know your Allah, serve you Allah as best as you can.

Human beings must have free will, or else God would not be just as the Judge on Judgment Day. On the other hand, everything in the universe has been pre determined by God. If it were not so, then he would not be all powerful. Scripture is clear on these two points: man is responsible for his actions but no one can be other than what God has made him. Romans 9. All humanity is entirely reliant on the grace and mercy of God. Only God is able to turn the heart of stone into a heart of flesh. Ezekiel 36. Free will on its own cannot do it, as human nature has been corrupted by sin. God had to save us while we were yet sinners by giving us his Son. Romans 5

Thats a hard concept for humans to grasp but it is the reason why everything appears pre-destined (as per us). This doesn't take away from the free will that gets us there.

I am a new revert to islam. Someone told me that I will enter hell fire because i eat with my left hand. I'm 31 years old and reverted recently. Can you give more clarity on this because surley Allah made me this way, as its natural and ive been eating with my left hand since birth. I dont clean myself in the bathroom however with my left hand, i use my right hand for that.

It is forbidden to eat with the left hand normally, but if you are a lefty by birth, you will eventually end up using the left hand. Allah does not burden a soul beyond what they can bear. So when you are aware, use your right hand, when you unintentionally use the left hand and realize this, seek Allah's help.

Lol, it's not "forbidden, ( haram ) it's just discouraged for cleanliness reasons. The quran mentions the word haram only a few times for important things. What makes islam beautiful is that it is also a guide for life filled with scientific facts and suggestions for humans to live well. If i remember right, Ibn Arabi Andulusi says: GoD has a WISH and a WILL, HIS WISH is all will be able to go to Heaven, but HIS WILL is that there is no escape from the LAWS that governs the Universe. An example of the last would be the law of gravity and so on. That's why HE has sent down HIS Prophets to guide mankind to achieve the former. Thank you and and best regards.

This is good teaching against Predestination. God did not create some people to burn in hell and others to live in heaven with Him. That is not a just and loving God. He made everyone with the same choice. Everyone makes their choice in life to accept God or not. You decide which place you want to spend eternity in, depending on whether you accept God's sacrifice for you or not. God knows who will choose and who will not, but that is not the same as Predestination. God knows at what point your heart has crossed the point of no return.

Dr when God destroys the tower of babel God is speaking his own language to the people, what language is God speaking Angelic? at this point God changes & makes all the languages of our world today, at this point no one can talk to eachother anymore so they all go their own ways so at this point Indians go to India, Chinese go to China. White people go north, black people go south, and Islamic goes to the Middle East, ect. So at this point after Noah God knows all the new belief systems will start, so does this mean God intended all people to believe in something different? I'm also wounder why no one today can speak God's language?

Scientifically speaking,We humans are slave of our habits. Our neurons become rigid as we age. If we hold wrong beliefs wrong attitude it’s very difficult our brain to develop new circuits and new attitudes. Then even if we are exposed to the truth we fail to accept it. As Allah knows it all so he mentions that of sealing their heart to warn us so that we don’t proceed to that state of mind of sealed heart. Universe ( law of attraction)also has a way of connecting us with like minded people and situations so that we completely lose connection with the straight path and sealed heart and mind.
