In the 80's there was not internet. However, in the underground, indie world, Steve McQueen was elected the #1 album of that decade

Because they were like XTC. They had some beautiful, world-class songs which would rival the best of any band or songwriter. The lead singers (Andy Partridge from XTC) didn't care for fame and didn't want to perform live. Compare that to The Police and Sting who was a show-off and needed to be in the limelight. The record companies didn't make an effort to promote Prefab Sprout or XTC

one of my all time favorite bands in one of my all time favorite programs.....great performance !..I remember well that I was at a ticket office bying tickets for I think it was the Cult and there I saw a great poster from a concert coming up by Prefab.....and they didn't`t came around that often......greatly missed chance and never got to see them live. Paddy and Co are truly mesmerizing , unique and `one-of-a-kind` sound....their texts are something special too , this love affair is going on for almost 40 years now , and will last `till the day I'll die

Great band. They were very underrated, but IMO they’re music and Paddy’s songwriting was fantastic. Every time I hear their music, I’m taken back to early 90s when I got really into them.

Don't worry, you didn't miss much. This period of music was post new wave sell out (what a pity after groundbreaking 77- 83 period) - they were the low point of music at that time - and largely forgotten thank goodness. ...

Steve Mcqueen or Two wheels good, a slightly extended version of it with some extra jewels. This band is a rare thing - brilliant, surprising and more creative than any other 80's band. along with the King Crimson 80's version. Love to hear them anytime. Sad that, living in Brazil, never could see them live.
