I picked up a Jess-X this month and I am really impressed. I convexed the edge on my stones just because I could. Its a fun useful tool! Nice job Chris.

Yes I enjoyed it. I find your reviews very fair and balanced. Those who don't obviously need some prep H to cool their winkers down. If I win the lottery I'm definitely buying some of those blades. FYI I used my jesX today to clean up some giant sunflowers in the garden, I love that knife.

Dark timber does make very good looking knives. I'd love to have the honey badger or the 1911 bc they are just beautiful and resemble something like a pioneer blade or a cowboys blade

So I finally got a Jess-X and my wife was blown away that it was only $50 when my LT Wright Genesis was $175. Not sure if I'll show her the next Chris Tanner designed knife I buy because it'll cost 3-4 times more. Smaller should cost less right?!?!?!? LOL
@chiefsmashingsmurf25778 жыл бұрын
both of those bark River knives are just plain sick, the bravo3 and the grizzly. I know you do not quote prices but could you give me a hint at the cost, no need for specifics how about a ballpark? and can't wait to see that Ebony 45, saving the best for last.

Hello Chris, for as similar to a BK7 or 9 etc as the blade is on the Jess-X, why don't you suggest to Schrade to make a variation of the JessX with a smaller, straighter handle more similar to Schrade's schf52 or even like the Kabar BK series. Then, Schrade would have a knife more similar and in demand like the BK7, 9, but at a more affordable price.
@preparedmind1018 жыл бұрын
+jonnyboat2 First off... The only similarity to the BK9 is length and height of the blade. Put them side by side and it's obvious. BK9 has a grind/swedge/point geometry intended for a combat knife. Jess-X grind geometry is designed for maximum chopping and wood splitting, and point for maximum strength. Second, I try to be as original as possible. I don't want to make something directly intended to compete with something else. Jess-X is exactly the way I want it to be.
@jonnyboat28 жыл бұрын
PREPAREDMIND101 Yes, exactly, it is made exactly for that specific use. I like that it is a strong blade design with good features and proportions. I think it would be great if it were made in different configurations like length and handle sizes for different uses. Schrade has the unique ability to offer great knives at affordable prices. It is obvious where it gets its design cues.

I mean really, is there ANYTHING like the Jess-X?? It wasn't even designed to chop a huge tree like that and it excelled! Considering all the other things it's great at doing as well as the price you get it for the answer is a resounding NO! I LOVE Jess-Ex and you're not too bad either Chris. Lol.

@preparedmind1018 жыл бұрын
+dougcfrary What is it with axe people? They can't even tolerate tests on blades meant to chop? Batoning: USE AN AXE! Chopping: USE AN AXE! You aren't going to find much axe porn on this channel. Just an FYI. Axes are not necessary tools for ME.
