The best part about Rachel is she is such a technical wizard you can almost forget she has a professional-grade set of pipes. I'd like to see half the pop stars on the radio explain their gear/signal flow with her knowledge and humility. Kudos to you, Rachel (K!) Collier!

I love RKC Weekly, what a great idea.. it could be longer haha... Yes I would like to see how you set up an Live set in Ableton.. how you set up the channels together , also cause some like if you doing Vocal overdubs I think its going to groups then also ? Also how is the Kaoss Pad 3 routed in your live ? Vocals going like send and return ? But also sometimes I think then it switched from only Vocals to going the whole set through ? How is that done ? if its on a send channel you can via Automation send every combination to it ?? like that ? How you doing for example arming the tracks ? Cause on Push 2 always the active one is armed… With APC 40 MKII I have also in addition its finally possible to pre arm also more tracks same time, they are always ready to start a recording clip then.. So its possible to record a keys and a vocal same time.. or more

This is really good Rachel. Kudos on the approach. Artists often are somewhat out of their Comfort zone, showing the 'ugly'&RAW bits and pieces of the behind the scenes stuff. I'll be stopping by your channel more, u reckon. Good luck on Sunday. I'll watch the live show ;) Thank you ! Cheers from Portugal

Hi Rachel, you're amazing artists and tech geek, thank you so much for sharing a bit of your knowledge with us. You have pre-armed tracks, and I'm guessing more than one track routed to your mic, how do you manage which of the armed tracks (routed to the same analog input) are coming out of the main output? Coz I'm thinking they would all come out live at the same time if they all armed no?

Ever figured it out? I tried searching of how to set predetermined loop times and only found the insert empty clip method, and there is no way to set predetermined lenght to auto stop audio ins. But it seems in this video that even vocals and such auto stop recording.

Hey Rachel! Or anyone that might help! I´m starting out with writing and performing with push 2 and on the "practice your ass" thing but know, reaching the second part of the track, when I mess up it´s very annoying to go back and delete everything by hand and resseting controls (I know about undo, even slower). Is there a way do go back to lets say, default position and settings? All the best!

@joshvishnu2434
@joshvishnu2434 4 жыл бұрын
realistically if you have push you don't need most of this, just get a mic and interface if you wanna record vocals and play all the synth parts on software synths with push. having hardware synths and effects is great in a lot of ways like feeling (and looking) much more like you are playing various instruments (this can help build a mental image of whats going on in your set for the performer and the audience), with only one real but somewhat big downside of having to carry lots of stuff with you as opposed to a simple laptop/push setup which would fit in a backpack easy. but tbh, best thing to do is get amazing with what youve got, then one day get a new piece of gear, otherwise you'll be drowned in gear you only kinda know how to use! (thats the trap ive fallen into haha oops)

What I want to know is what kind of computer hardware you need. Obviously, all that sound is going through a computer. Or is it? I'm a musician and I've set up PA systems (mixer, amp, speakers, mics), but nowhere near as complex as your setup. I'm more of an acoustic musician with panpipes, charango, etc. So, does all the sound get processed by a computer and then go out to the amp? Or is the audio going directly through the sound machines, then mixer, then amp? What role does the computer play in your music? What would be interesting is a how-to series for beginners. Not that I'm going to buy all that equipment - I'm a videographer, not an electronic music specialist. But I'd still like to see how it's really done out of pure curiosity.
