Now that I am feeling rejuvenated and ready for a new season, I am excited to share more craft projects (and bunny content). Some towns over here are already expecting frost soon, so Autumn is just around the corner! Time to air out my sweaters! A few things I have planned are videos on broom making, whittling, crafting, and bringing in the last of the harvest before the cold comes. Much love and light to all of you 🕯🤍

Ahhhhh you brought back one of my favorite childhood memories. You see I’m 63 years young and grew up in Chicago IL. I always imagined that I was thumbelina and that I was either swimming in a puddle or climbing the vines that grew on the brick homes. When I was asked in school, what I wanted to be when I grew up, I said I wanted to be a flower. The kids laughed at me but I never knew what a florist was called, I simply love flowers! Although I never became a florist I had always had grown flowers and gather them from streets lined with wild flowers, my garden is small but filled with all sorts of color. So much for a girl who always wanted to be a flower and yes to this day, I imagined to be thumbelina or a shrinking Violet!

@@jackieo8693 Bad seed? Lettuce usually sprouts in a few days. Keep it wet. Also, lettuce should be sowed very shallow. I usually sprinkle the seeds on nicely prepared soil and then just rake some dirt over them. I doubt they are ever more than a quarter quarter of an inch down…. If that.

I rarely comment on videos, but this one was inspiring enough that I felt I should share some stuff. While I do love autumn, I am thin as a twig and my body doesn’t handle extreme heat or cold very well, so summer-winter end up being extremely difficult to handle for me. I love when it gets to be around the holidays when the stores smell like cinnamon and pumpkin spice, something about that just makes me very happy. Also, I’m so happy to know that I’m not the only one that loves huckleberries, good grief I am addicted to them 😂

I love autumn!! I spin my own yarn, dye it with plants and knit. Of course I do that all year, but autumn is when the cozy sweaters and wool socks come back into the wardrobe. I’ve just finished a mossy green cardigan and now I’m working on a pair of mittens for my daughter. We live in the middle of the city and only have a small yard, but we have a lot of things growing. Tomatoes are being harvested and made into pasta sauce with our chives, onions, and basil. Carrots are almost ready to be pulled and we will be able to get one more harvest of rhubarb. We collected chokecherries from a friend and grapes and apples from a neighbour. Jelly and juice are being processed with those. For my yarn I have marigolds (yellow), woad (blue) growing in my yard. My roses are blooming profusely and I’m hoping for a good harvest of rose hips as well as mint for my tea.

We have had an abundance of rain this year in the Central Highlands of Arizona and the flowers that have stayed hidden during our drought(s) have vigorously jumped up to the task of blooming and making seed... it is how it was years ago and so sweet to witness again. There will be many days of late Summer photographs that will lead into the photographs of Aspens and small hardwood color patches this Fall. For me the only preparatory tasks these days are gathering an archive of images to edit in the Winter, and to put up some firewood for the stove. Thank you for another artful & wonderful story share into your life.

Autumn has always been my favorite time of year! One of my favorite fall traditions is going over the mountain to the neighboring county to purchase apples, pumpkins and gourds. A gallon or two of apple cider is always welcomed! Once home, the apples are used for apple dumplings, cakes and pies and the apple cider is warmed with cinnamon and other spices. Yum Yum. Warm, comforting and fun. The pumpkins and gourds, along with colorful mums, decorate my house and my yard Like you said only a few more weeks. I can't wait!

For me, this time of year feels somewhat melancholy as the heat and light start to fade. But I love the colors and crispness of the fall air. Huckleberries are a special memory for me. When I was a teenagers, a group of us were hiking around on Mt. St. Helens just above the timber line looking for a plane that had crashed into the mountain. We ran across a huckleberry patch that was probably 100 yards across. The berries were huge compared to the normal ones around Spirit Lake. We filled every backpack, bag, and container we had and lugged them down the mountain. The cook at Y Camp (where we worked) had a field day with our haul. My mouth is watering just thinking about that memory. Thank you for another thoughtful video!

My hope is to make a “junk journal” highlighting greeting cards my friends and family have given me. I make most all of my own greeting cards, and usually send out way more than I ever receive. For that reason I tend to keep all the cards that come my way. I broke my elbow in mid June so my goal is to have regained enough muscle to play my accordion 🪗 again. I also couldn’t do very much crafting so I’ll be playing catch up for my Christmas gift making. I have chickens, cats and dogs that demand my attention as well as a feral dog we’ve been working with for eight months. He’s quite a challenge, but is finally fearless enough to begin training to be inside. I’ve got my hands pretty full this upcoming autumn.

I am in western Washington state and have always enjoyed picking my produce at our local u-pic farm. From the first sweet strawberries to the beautiful bounty of numerous summer vegetables to cook for my husband. But starting in September the winter squashes and gourds, sunflowers and pumpkins are what draws my heart. To decorate for Fall, I will use a few various squashes along with what ever I can hunt from the forest behind my back yard. I just wish I could bottle the earthy smell of the decaying ferns and damp mossy ground that seems to me to be Autumn's signature scent.

My world mirrors yours with the seasonal shift to Spring here in New Zealand, the longed for flowers are rising from the earth, with the hope of color to light our lives again. How magical is our world where up there (where you are in the Northern Hemisphere) old father time moves his hands towards the slower winter shades of cool and yet "downstairs" (here in the Southern Hemisphere) he shifts the time to wake the birds earlier and quicken the spirit with lengthening days of sunshine...yes magical.

The cooler temperatures are so welcomed by those of us whose bodies react so painfully to hot, humid temperatures. It's delightful! Looking out the window through my Austrian pine branches that are sparkling in the sunshine, makes me so grateful for the change in the weather and for a new perspective the sunshine provides - uplifting for sure, as are your videos every week. Thank you for your gentle approach to life. You may never know how many people you have helped, but you may count me as one, even at my grand old age of 76, there is something to be learned from a beautiful, young soul as yourself.

I love Fall - the smell in the air when walking the trails or just being outside in the air - been cooped up so much this year that I'm truly looking forward to the leaves changing to their beautiful colors. I love Spring but do believe Fall is my favorite - always has been as far back as I can recall. Walking through the fallen leaves and to hear them rustle when the wind blows - I'm more inspired to be creative in Fall for some reason - right now I'm making a tapestry of two of my great grandchildren to give to their parents as a gift - then I'll be crocheting more items for a Fall festival at my church and want to try my hand at making a quilted picture from fabric I have a lot of. I would love to make my Christmas cards this year - used to make blank note cards using my photography a lot about 8-9 years ago which I sold at craft shows. Looking forward to your videos demonstrating how to whittle, broom making - crafting. you are a very good artist = started a scrapbook pages for my oldest great granddaughter and would like to get it finished as I believe at 13 she's ready for journal writing. A lot on my plate - hope the time allows.

I find Fall a time to collect dried flower seeds, pine cones, abandoned bird nests and redecorating my art studio for cool days of painting and wreath making. The garden goes to rest and fields are not in need of weekly cutting…. I get the urge to sew quilts, crochet a Afghan and make tinctures for the winter seasons ills. I enjoy the last of our camping trips and bon fires. I begin to focus on gifts for Christmas time that are hand made for each family member and I make sure each morning and each night I give thanks for our freedom, our home and all the simple pleasures we still can enjoy.

Foraging for huckleberries was one of my favorite activities when I lived in your area years ago. Huckleberries and Marion berries are my absolute favorites. I also would forage for pine needles. A friend makes jewelry from them. I so miss living up there. Glad to see things getting better for you.

I live in a moderate/temperate microclimate along the coast in the Bay Area of California. As an artist I am so visual that I can see, even in our temperate chaparral urban landscapes I can sense the changes to Autumn in a couple of weeks. Sometimes I believe it is more of a mind shift than an actual shift in the atmosphere, but however it shifts, it does. My Autumnal favorite things I look forward to is wearing sweaters, and fall colors. Mornings punctuated with the smell of pan fried apples with brown sugar and cinnamon. However your post has reminded me of the things I use to do when I was younger at this time of year. I am retired now and I have time to just meander through an autumn day crafting and enjoying a cozy fire, hot tea and quiet music. Thank you for being so inspiring.

On the other side of the world I am enjoying long walks in the last of the cool days, as I will rarely go far in summer. Today I found a new walk on a path through hundreds of golden wattle trees. Which some might call mimosa. The scent is wonderful! so I stood amongst them listening to the various bird songs and trying to live very much in the moment.

I live on 7 acres in the high mountains (elevation: 7,260) of northern New Mexico. I've spent the unusually wet summer dodging thunder storms, and a few weeks ago, a series of huge hail storms decimated my garden. All that was left were 3 tomato plants and, weirdly enough, 10 buckets of various varieties of potatoes. So, because it was too late to replant outside, I've been re-starting seedlings inside my enclosed porch, and have turned it into a green house. I've also been working on lime washing the walls of my 150 year old adobe house, pruning branches and getting ready for a harsh winter that I believe will be here before I know it. Fall is also Hatch green chili time here in New Mexico, with huge roasters along the sides of the roads in every town. The amazing smoky scent of roasting chilis permeates the air and we can pull up and place our order, mild, medium or hot, and our chilis are roasted on the spot, then they are dumped into a garbage bag. I usually spend an afternoon going through the chilis, peeling and placing them into small bags to freeze and enjoy for the rest of the year. Oh, and occasionally taking the time to wash a Great Pyrenees and an Australian Shepherd who keep trying to make friends with my neighborhood skunk. :-)

I rarely comment here on youtube, but today's video left me no choice but to shout out. You described so beautifully the feelings that always overwhelm me in the beginning of autumn! And that wild side of me... Each autumn I suffer an irresistible longing to go to steppe and get lost in it. I live in the Ural mountains, almost in the middle of Russia, and the steppe here to the south of my region is a place where civilizations of old built their cities, which then came down to dust long before Christ, then later the hordes of Tamerlan and Chingiz-khan roamed these very same hills and wastelands... and still this place remains wild and serene, as it probably was before the first humans ever came here. Being there rejuvenates me like nothing else in the world could, and I've travelled and seen quite much. I, myself, am a very distant descendant of the Mongol khans of old, and, while most of the time I live a very 'normal' city life, the old nomads' blood in me boils each time I get my nose out of the vicious circle of work-home-work. This year after many a years' struggles in both personal and professional life, I finally got the chance to go there and stay for at least a month (and hopefully four!). Only two weeks before I finish all of my current duties and go! Haha, this comment was supposed to tell you how your videos help me to get through the struggles that I have, but something went wrong ^^; Anyways, I hope your autumn (and everyone else's who's read through this comment too!) brings you all the freedom and fresh air it can! Cheers! < 3
