Great video of this brand new White Westinghouse Air Conditioner Jordan. I can't wait to see this unit be installed and used for the first time. Certainly deserves some run time after siting dormant for 45 years since it was made. Look forward to seeing where this gets installed in the house; hopefully, it will last many more years.

Really good to see a conventionally built unit with metal blades and US built compressor. I hope it works well for you.

Great video of a super cool WW AC. The recip. makes it even cooler. My grandma had a similar unit without the energy saver switch, and it had a rotary compressor. Must have been a few years newer. Also, the evaporator fan was made of plastic. Very cool....

It could have been as old as this one. This is an odd configuration to see under the White Westinghouse brand, I suspect they were just using up existing parts left over in stock. The one you describe is much more typical.

Very nice unit. Surprised it doesn’t have a grill over the outside fins for that era, but I believe White Westinghouse wasn’t considered a premium brand back then. Of course is better than anything you can buy today.

It seems like only the larger form factor ones had the protective guard.

That’s an awesome unit right there. I have a early 80s Kenmore like you had in the garage and I’m planning on cleaning and servicing it

Those units are absolute beasts and age very well! I had a 4k or 4200 btu version around the late 2000's that looked identical to this one. Mine had been pretty well used but still looked new. Cooled as well as any 5k unit I've had.

These were exceptionally good quality. I have another one that's older than this which I picked out of the trash, it appears to have fallen out of the window at some point and was stored outdoors for years. It still cools.

This seems way better built than the new ones, even the fan blades are metal

I want one like this so bad. I’m tired of these cheaply made modern units breaking, wasting power, and cooling like crap. What a nice machine.

It's worth spending the time to find one like this. The ones made today are so poorly built they're not even worth buying.

I could see how maybe the first owner might have this unit as a spare or for emergency use. But it seems like it would be eventually owned by someone who would use it. How rare for something to never be used in 45 years. It makes me wonder how that happened.

Those coils you tie wrap together, they can alternatively be pulled apart so no parts touch too as tie wraps can go loose over many years or the plastic degrades.
