You should use both smoke bombs. Gray smoke simulates lesser damage, like a radiator leak or fuel leak. So make it go first. Black smoke simulates fire and more serious damage, so it goes last.

@multihobbyman2 жыл бұрын
I have a suggestion to make: You should add sound to an airplane. I model railroad. It’s fun and all, but the sound adds a touch of realism. I haven’t seen it done on many modern rc planes, I think it would be a great challenge to add sound to an airplane, wether it be the b17 or some other scale airplane. You could fit a decently large/heavy speaker in a larger airplane. You could hook it up to a voltage reader or something and when the airplane throttles up, then would increase the audible rpms. Would be cool to see the results.
@Skinflaps_Meatslapper2 жыл бұрын
Sound systems are out there for them, but there's no replicating the deep bass tones that aircraft make. The only thing that really comes through audibly in the air is treble, so it doesn't sound very realistic.
@multihobbyman2 жыл бұрын
@@Skinflaps_Meatslapper exactly. Put a sub or two on there, i think the fuselage could at least incorporate a 6” at 400w rms or something, would be interesting to see how they run an amp.
@rameynoodles1522 жыл бұрын
Gas engines would pretty much do it. It won't sound exactly like a real one, but gas engines sound A LOT more realistic. Unfortunately, they can also be A LOT more dangerous.
@erichische2 жыл бұрын
MRRcSound tranducers would boom on that thick foam airframe.
@Skinflaps_Meatslapper2 жыл бұрын
I'm curious to know what kind of construction techniques could be used to create a sub enclosure that was both light enough and rigid enough to have a good response to hear from the air. The thought of dropping a traditional particle board and felt carpet box in a lightweight foam fuselage seems like the antithesis to their goals. Moki radials are the closest thing to replicate an actual aircraft engine, but they really don't have that deep droning sound that's characteristic of a full scale radial except when at idle. In flight they sound more like tiny V-12's being revved to death (which sounds absolutely fantastic on their own, but totally out of place for a B-17). The more conventional OS style twins and whatnot do have a realistic engine sound...as in real weed eaters flying through the air. That just breaks all the realism for me, hearing a couple chainsaws flying in close formation. I'd rather just hear the props from an electric motor...they're quiet by comparison but achieve a similar tonal effect to real aircraft if you listen really close or buzz yourself.

My dad was a B-17 pilot in WW II and was shot down over Germany on his 3rd mission on July 16, 1943 and spent the rest of the war in German POW camps, the first of which was Stalag Luft III in Sagan Germany which is now Zagan Poland. My dad arrived in the UK at the beginning of July 1943 with a virtually a new B-17. But most B-17's that survived a few missions had wear and so had paint peeled off of the the leading edgings and other parts of the aircraft. This model looks more like it came out of the factory and had never flown a mission. Most B-17's that lasted more that a few missions had flaws where the paint had been worn off showing bare metal along the leading edges of the wings and other parts exposed to the winds. It's a great model, but it just came off of the factory and doesn't show any of the wear of B-17's in combat. Also many B-17's were hit by flak or attacking enemy fighters and those holes had to be patched and so many B-17's had a number of patches from being hit on previous missions. If you are going to make a B-17 that has been in missions in WW II then you need to add the wear and damage that most B-17's had after a number of missions. However, great model and a tip of the hat to your creativeness.

There is a far more efficient way to bleed off the paint can. Turn it upside down, bleed off the compressed gas. Then when the gas has emptied just cut the top off the can, or drill a hole and pour it out. That way you don't waste the massive amount he wasted in aerosol form! Make sure you shake it first of course.

Mega awesome for sure! But no retracts?! A suggestion in the "looks" department: Color the trailing edge of the wing, to de-emphasize the stark white "cliff" look. And maybe some scale(ish) prop hubs.

Paint the propellers black.

Rubber powered mult engine done by free fighters is a greater a hievment in my opinion. Seen some amazing achievements at Flying Aces. Contests taking skill more than sheer money.

Jason is an amazing pilot. He made that r/c plane look like a full size bomber. Kudos!

Would like flight footage of the b-17. Looks super scale.

I use the same size smoke bombs, I put them in an aluminum foil lined large medicine bottle with holes posted all in the lid. It works and keeps the plane safe. The fuse sticks out through a hole.

Maybe have a switch on the transmitter to enable "damaged engine mode" So when an engine gets hit it that engine will spool down and or stop providing thrust

That would make an awesome movie prop. Add in some sound and a bit of smoke and you probably wouldn’t be able to tell it apart from the real thing

That is Amazon guys!!! Can't wait to see it in combat! I would love to see you guys devise a similar concept to fly RC with a PC joystick.

That’s as realistic a model as I’ve ever seen. It’s an incredible model.
