Great video. Yeah, these high end companies have mastered what I equivalent to, “in app purchase”. Selling a great basic product then having to buy all the add ons becomes super expensive. We all fall for the “customizable” features yet we end up setting them up the same ol way as our old non customizable bags. So do we really need all those “customizable” options? Probably not. Just sell me a complete product!
@PrepMedicАй бұрын
Yeah, it is definitely a money grab to a point. I will say though that I enjoy the customizable functions simply because med shortages and other supply ordering issues means ever changing packaging and it’s really nice to be able to change up the pack to fit them. They should absolutely sell it with med trays though.

If I sell you the "complete product," your complaint will then be that is expensive and that you did NOT need all the extra parts. We can't win!
@PrepMedic10 күн бұрын
True, but with how functional and changeable the med trays are I’m not sure they would get the same complaints that a fixed pocket layout would get. Ultimately $300 isn’t an outlandish number for a bag but it is at the upper end of the spectrum for the size. All in all I think it’s a good bag that fits a unique niche.

The thing I dont really like about minimalist packs is I KNOW if I need (whatever equipment) its in my large bag, and typically, it wont fit in the minimalist bag. Also SWAT medic here, and they don't like bringing patients to me. The flip side is humping that 70# bag around all while kitted out with plate carrier, helmet, nods, rifle, etc. It looks good, and I also love that ranger green, but, eh...I will probably stick to care under fire items on my person for now. They can continue to complain about bringing me patients, and I'll continue to buy them doughnuts later.

It's hard to review Spiritus Systems products, I love the modular design of the Delta Bag, even though it's only used for EDC, however the untimely and efficient stocking, the lack of necessary tray components for $330 (just increased in price), and the fact that even the backpacks need to be customized additionally to suit the needs, are all unpleasant. Thanks for the excellent introductory video!

With the outer spine area where you shock corded the tourniquets, I put a kydex holster there and it works. I have the CAT holster facing down, because its in there tighter, and the SOF-T the right way up, its the newer gen and doesn't fit well in the holster.

Loved the delta bag, but didnt hold exactly what i wanted so i eventually just made my own bag to fit exactly how i wanted my gear and be modular as well. Great video i just wish the main compartment on the delta bag had slightly more depth.

@prepmedic great video. I love the looks of this bag, but I definitely see some of the drawbacks you mentioned. By the way what’s the name of “med bag” you had in the back compartment? Or the name of the company that sells ? I’m assuming it’s the zippered semi Hard case for injectables.

It’s Cro Medical. It is an awesome case but probably one of the most overpriced prices of kit I own.

Seems cool. For now my kit will be usgi inserts and aloksaks filled with gear organized by module in a Jansport cause med gear is expensive and the bag is creature comfort rather than the main tool

Great review Sam. In my opinion this bag is far too small for most medics in most situations. Really it's designed for a SOF medic to do a direct action raid and be done. The assaulter type medic as you said. This bag is certainly not well suited to working with light infantry or other conventional combat arms units. I'd recommend adding an i-gel size 5 to your kit if you can make space or use a different bag. There's a couple studies out there showing using a sex based sizing for i-gel i.e. size 5 for men and size 4 for women is more accurate than weight based. Side note: if you're a combat medic and you're not carrying a BP cuff and a stethoscope, you're wrong.

How does this bag compare to the Tasmanian Tiger small pack (in terms of cost, durability, and modularity)
@docdolittle8057Ай бұрын
I have a Tasmanian Tiger Assault Pack. What’s your job or intended purpose for it? For a truck bag for everyday use it can hold a lot of basic interventions. For mil if you plan on using it, it has to be supplemented with something (Fanny pack/body armor pouches/ larger med bag close by). I love it, durability is great, organization is nice. Plenty of spots to add more pouches etc. Cost not even close, it’s about 150+ dollars cheaper. It works for what I use it for and would recommend!

To play devils advocate: The thing about Spiritus and other companies selling everything separately - they’re selling modularity, and the research behind it. The price isn’t because of just the product, but their products capabilities. Not just the inserts you need for your specific task, but also orientation of those things, and then the RE-insertion & reorganization of those inserts for another task. This product is just designed for certain people, not the masses.
@PrepMedicАй бұрын
That is true. There is something to be said about modularity and I do enjoy being able to customize kit. It’s actually a must. It’s not so much the customization that bothers me, it’s more the limited run stock and not at least giving you what you need for a basic setup.

Hey, mind to throw some links on these supposed studies? I'm used to being able to place reboa at my shop, our medics have placed a couple of junctional tourniquets though, and like all N of 2 of them worked.
@PrepMedic12 күн бұрын
Sure, link to one below. Not sure what reboa has to do with anything here though. So far the data collected from London Air Ambulance and other trial sites don’t support its use prehospital at all and even the data coming out of trauma centers is unconvincing at best. www.airmedicaljournal.com/article/S1067-991X(24)00059-2/abstract#:~:text=Previous%20research%20has%20suggested%20that,in%20patients%20undergoing%20elective%20anesthesia.

@@PrepMedic you could also twist the wire around the cord or tie a knot to it if that would still fit through the holes. The wire is vastly easier to thread through the holes in any case.
