So nice to see a young person who appreciates vintage style. I am literally vintage. 74 years old and am in awe of your abilities. My belongings are vintage because I bought them new in the 70’s & 80’s. They’re like new because I cared for them with tlc and were so timeless & beautiful. New stuff now is so sterile & bland to my eye. Everything new is contemporary. Vintage has way more character & warmth. My point is that it’s very gratifying to watch you create a warm, inviting, cozy home. I love your Texas estate sale videos. So much good stuff being sold there.

😂😂 you’re funny. That’s great you’ve kept your items working and looking good. My grandma had a stove and fridge from the 50’s that were still in perfect condition 8 years ago before she died 😢at 96. They were made with better materials than new things.

@@mermaiddiyartist8119 that’s the thing, products in general were made with such higher quality standards, craftsmanship, and care/intention. it’s like there was no other option but to make good quality items because anything less would be mediocre. which it is now! just cheap poor quality and all for greed and short term satisfaction. very wasteful. this isn’t my personal style but i can recognize and appreciate quality when i see it. i wish standards were up to par these days. it’s actually very annoying being sold low quality i feel like i have no options other than ridiculously overpriced. it’s one reason thrifting and second hand shopping has gotten so big these recent years. clothing big time was made with such higher standards back in the day.

Story book homes are Tudors. They really are attractive. We’ve lived in a home with character for 31 years, and moved cross country specifically for this house. OK, yes; a job, but that wouldn’t have happened without this house.

When you are house hunting, make sure you find something with room for a little 'she shed' or similar space so you can have some messy DIY space to work in, even once you have children you will probably still want to do the odd project and this will be important space for you to have (and sometimes escape to!). Between you and Drew I have a much different view of LA than how I thought it would be, you seem to have so many beautiful architectural styles to pick from! As others have said the housing and mortgage market is changing rapidly at the moment so keep that in mind, but on the other hand if you find 'the one' and it isn't stupidly priced and you aren't stretching yourself financially then go for it!. You've made it clear this will be a long term home and chances are time will swallow up any fluctuations in value, so don't let fear lose you the right home when you find it :)

Yes, I heard of many people feeling socially tired, exhausted of talking, laughing and all the aspects of interacting with others. I think it is a result of being socially separated for the last 2-3 years. I definitely need at least 2 days of solitude, silence…..just alone in my own personal space every time I gather with people for too long. Once I rest and nest…I’m ready to be with numerous people again.

You can always look for “English Tudor” homes too. They usually have slate roofs and they are exceptional homes. My grandparents had one.
